- Siri Eyes free READ the message to you via blue tooth = prior to update
- View the Messages on the screen while in park = part of 12.5 update.
don't know when #1 was added, so if you have version 10.XX or earlier, it might not be there, I had version 11.XX when my 2018 was purchased and it was there, updated by dealer to 12.0 and it was there, updated to 12.5 and got the text/messages on screen option.
I just now ordered the 12.5 update for my 2016 Ultimate. I'm not exactly sure which version of maps I currently have, as it's only listed as 08.41.52.591.001 in my display details.
Last month I did a 2,200 mile road trip using the OEM system and for the most part I liked the way it worked. Big screen is clear and the exit detail visual in nice. I also ran Waze on my iPhone 8 tucked the cup holder during the trip. That was more helpful on the open road but annoying if not muted in cities with overlapping navigation instructions. Wish someone had a workaround for CP on the Ultimate - maybe an Aux adapter hack?
Having come out of an '18 Audi S5 Sportback with CP, I was looking forward to updating to CP again as my pre-purchase research lead me to believe Hyundai was going to provide a path for updating to CP, but alas the nuance of head unit differences between trim packages was lost on me prior to purchase. I was annoyed at first, but really haven't missed CP as much I was supposing would be the case.
Texting is the one CP function I miss most. I've been using Siri Eyes, but it is clunky and VR dictation is far more challenging with the Genesis. I cannot get to Siri by using VR button on the wheel, but can if I hit the home button on my phone, so I have been able to do limited texting in that way, but it's a far from ideal - but then so was the Audi having a non-touch screen as the CP user experience seems better suited to a touch screen.
I am somewhat confused on the #1 and #2 list above. Does this mean that once updated to 12.5 I will no longer have the same VR text read/dictation capabilities while driving and will now have to be parked to text? I was hoping the VR steering wheel button would add the text functions. I can understand not viewing the messages while driving for safety sake, but will I still be able to have the messages read to me?
Additional point of confusion: I read people raving here about split screen display of radio and map, but I am stumped to find any setting for this on the Ultimate. Is this a function that is only found on the smaller screen head units?
