  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Uniq Performance Rigid Collars

Ordered mine today. The owner at Uniq was very responsive! :)

Can't wait to get them installed. Tired of that sloppy feeling in the steering wheel.

The staff at Uniq are amazing and always answered my questions instantaniously :)

You will love the feel of them once you install them

Received my collars today. Going to schedule some shop time and a 4 wheel alignment, hopefully later this week.

Anyone have experience with installing them? Did the front suspension have to be dropped? Did you have to mess with the springs?

Nothing has to be dropped in the front. Very simple and straight-forward. Literally for the 4 front collars you remove the sub frame bolt, slide the collar onto the bolt, and then install the bolt with collar back in from and retorque. The rear are a little bit more involved with dropping the rear subframe, but it's not difficult. I just wished I would have known about the smaller sized collar the kit comes with......no instructions on where the smaller collar goes, but IIRC it goes into the drivers-side middle collar.

So I got 8 "R"s, 1 "F", and 1 unmarked which is really thin.

Where does the "F" go? Anyone?

F washer goes on rear passenger side bolt on the front subframe.
Next thinnest washer goes on rear most driver's side bolt on front sub frame.

Thanks NSXNEXT.

Thanks for the tip NSX - When I first installed my collars I only installed 7 out of the 10 since I wasn't sure where the smallest collar was to go and I was pressed for time. Had more time today and put in the 2 front collars and the thin collar for the rear front driver-side.

Rigid collars installed this weekend. So far, there is a marked difference in the way the vehicle handles.

The car feels smoother on all types of rough road conditions. Small bumps have little to no effect on the vehicle's stability. Larger bumps are still felt through the vehicle and steering wheel but with a greatly reduced shimmy in the vehicle. Small vertical bumps (like speed bumps) don't bounce the car like before. The car almost floats them smoothly with no bounce.

There is a road near my home that has a variety of bumps from small pot holes to poorly patched pot holes to cracks with vertical offsets. I dread this road every time I drive it because of the constant vibration it causes within the vehicle and the steering wheel because it is one pot hole after another. I took it for the first time yesterday. It felt like a new road. Absolutely no vibrations in the steering wheel and nearly felt like a smooth road.

Overall, the ride is much improved. The sloppiness in the steering wheel is almost completely gone. Fantastic upgrade for the money. Well worth the 3 hours of shop time to install!!!

I got as many pictures as I could. I will post a DYI on the install.

Would you guys suggest doing the collars before the 12-14 sway bar (I have a '10)? I'm eventually do8ng both but which one first for those of you that did both?

Since I've done both I would say that the collars are more important than the rear sway bar and the collars are less $.

Did you end up getting a set? :)

I wish I didn't see this thread, damn! :D

I visited the Uniq website and feel this kit makes sense. My question is when would it become a worthy option for improved ride and handling?

My '13 Rspec just turned 5000 miles. Would the car really benefit from this kit with so few miles or should I wait a couple of years for it to become wobbly.

Just wondering out loud.
