USA Deposits Available in CT, NY, NJ and CA

I will, again, wonder out loud: "Why is it that Canadians put deposits down before those in the UK and USA, yet seem to be last to receive vehicles?"
This is outrageous as well, the deposit started in February, they never announce pricing until they media pressed with the US.
Yet, the US pricing were out way before the Canadian as well, also, no 30min free charge offer.
They price above all provincial/ fed EV grant.
No deliveries yet.

There was a FB post on a GV60 in Montreal. Looked great. Canadians are getting them at the same time as Americans.

I got a call from the Priority One Desk yesterday. I was assigned to Stevens Creek Genesis in San Jose for my reservation.
I called Stevens Creek yesterday. They told me that they wouldn't be any cars available until September, and that the markup was planned to be $7000.

This is a deal killer for me for a $60,000 car. Unless this changes I'll probably get a Toyota BZ4X when it's available later this year or early next year, as the Oakland Toyota dealer promises no dealer markup ever.

Or try and find the more comparable Kia EV6 if/when I can find one without an excessive dealer markup.

Wow, what a crushing development. I hope that mark-up isn't the norm, but judging by the IONIQ 5, etc., I'd imagine that's what we're in for. And like you, if that's the case, I'm waiting.

I also talked to Stevens Creek a few days back and they said that for P1 reservation holders, no markup at all. But once all reservations have been fulfilled, future sales will have markups. They said they will be getting the first batch of P1 cars by 6/27.

Quite different from the response I got. Whom did you speak to at Stevens Creek?
Thanks.

Just guessing but most likely the cars landed at the Long Beach Port in CA a couple of weeks ago, then they get loaded up on trucks and shipped, across the border in your case, so you'll likely be 1-3 weeks behind CA deliveries.

Not totally surprising that the first delivery occurred within an hour of the port.

I would think that arrivals into Canada would come via ship into Vancouver. I've heard some stories recently about horrendous delays at the Port of Long Beach, so I'd imagine that shippers would do anything possible to avoid it.

Possibly.

But then since each cargo ship can transport thousands of cars they might all be on one boatload.

Either way I don't think it's Korean conspiracy to stiff those friendly Canadians of their new EVs!

After getting the reply that another formum member had spoken to Stevens Creek and was told that there would be no mark up on the Genesis GV60 for people on the priority one list, I called Stevens Creek again and this time spoke to the sales manager, Billy.

He assures me that in fact there will be no markup for people on the priority one list, and expects the cars to begin coming in in late June with more coming in July and August.

This is good news.

Did concierge call you to reassign you to Stevens Creek? I'm in SF and apparently my original dealer assignment in Dublin won't be getting any P1 allotments. Looked like Stevens Creek is the only dealer in the bay area getting any love. There were like 6 LA dealers to choose from.

Stevens Creek was the initial assignment for my Genesis. Apparently the Genesis dealers need to be certified for electric vehicles, and many of them are not. This is surprising to me, as the same genesis dealers are mostly Hyundai dealers, and they’re all selling the ioniq five as far as I know.

In the NYC area, there appears to be a limited number of 'EV-certified' dealers getting the GV60.

A rough count of Genesis dealers in the initial area is:
CA 33 CT 7 NY 13 NJ 9

As it happens, this is the bulk (~60%) of the dealers in the US.

Based on my conversation with Genesis Concierge today re: dealer for my Priority One preorder, I guess well less than half of the NY NJ CT dealers are involved in the first wave of deliveries.

Genesis of Brooklyn is showing four GV60s on their website now (1 Advanced and 3 Performance). FWIW, the colors are 2 gray, 1 white, 1 black.

You can tell which dealers will be getting stock by going to each one on Genesis locator in your area: Find a Vehicle – New Genesis Inventory | Genesis USA.

Looks like the tristate is limited to a few in NYC and LI and a few in CT. None in NJ.

Genesis of Torrence is already applying a nice $5k dealer addon markup to their incoming inventory haha. Not sure they realize that these P1 orders shouldn't have any markup.

At least Genesis of Denville will be getting GV60s in NJ. I suspect there will be a few others.

Huge update on my end: CT dealer just called me and said that the car they were expecting to arrive mid-July arrived today (I think it was part of the last batch of Philly port arrivals) and that per his conversations with Genesis he's assigning the car to me before the dealer waitlist since I'm the only Priority One that's contacted him. Might have the car early next week?

I'll be checking the car out this weekend. If there's anything people want me to check, lmk.

Did he mention any markups or addons?

Am I missing something here? I don't see a way to filter by GV60. I spoke with Concierge last week but was a little confused on how/what they were going to do... well, based on my Ioniq 5 reservation I'm guessing Concierge isn't going to be doing anything at all, so I guess I should start getting my name out to the EV dealerships.

I don’t believe there is a way to filter by GV60, at least not when I try. However, you can go to individual dealerships websites and look at their New Inventory and GV60s in transit (if there are any) will appear.

I’m with you 100% on the experience with the Concierge. No straight answers are ever given when I call and it’s very unclear on how the process is going to work. Additionally, their communication to my local dealer caused a lot of confusion and I was almost put on some secondary list by the dealer (which would’ve delayed me getting a car even further). I called Genesis Corporation to express my frustration and in the end I’m not sure it accomplished anything.

Yeah, I would start calling dealers ASAP just in case. I called my local dealer in Laguna Niguel and they let me put in a deposit for a reservation. They say they expect their first delivery by August/September.
