Currently, the lowest listed prices for a used 2010 Genesis 4.6 are sitting around $32000. when do you think prices will get down around the $25000 mark? i'm hoping that when the 2012 is released (mid 2011?), prices will fall rapidly.

I also have a friend who buys cars at Manheim, but haven't asked him what the auction prices are yet.

If you check what 2009 4.6 Tech are going for you will get a pretty good idea of what a 2010 will be worth next year. If Hyundai brings out the 5.0 next year and bumps the price up then it is a whole new game. They have held the line on pricing for 3 model years now and are due for an increase. I would guess 8-10%. If that happens then 09,10 and 11 models will not depreciate very much any further then they have for a while and the price increase on the new model will be factored into the used past model price. That was the classic M-B model from the 80's and the Lexus model from the early 90's. Considering the fact that Genesis prices have remained the same for all three model years, the depreciation is not bad at all.

Hi,

In October, I bought a 2010 4.6 with 14,200 miles for $28,400. I really like the car.

Damn you got a sick deal. I have a dealership that is still trying to get $35000 for a used 2009 4.6 with tech, around 15000 miles. I am still waiting for the prices to go down. Maybe the 2012 Genesis will drop it to where I want it. Plan to get a used 2009 tech at around 20000-23000

$35K for a used 2009 ?? --- There are plenty of posts here from people that have bought NEW 2011 4.6 for around $37K. - Get on the phone to these dealerships and see what they have used. Then buy a plane ticket.

You are not 'roped into a single dealer'

absolutely. I have USAA and through their car buying service I could get a new 2010 4.6 Tech for $36000 and 2011 for $37000.

The cost (or value) of any item is what someone is willing to pay for it.

sounds like a great deal. what was it listed at?
tech or non-tech? dealer or private seller?

Hi,

The dealer was Brad Benson in South Brunswick, NJ. Its a 4.6 with tech. It had a new car sticker on it, and i spent about 4 hours with them talking down the price.

That's on the rare side of the spectrum. Majority of people will not find that kind of price for a 4.6 Genesis.

My price was more of an average expected price, and not the lowest.

You are absolutely right! I paid less than $37 for my 2011, after trying to negotiate with dealers trying to sell 2009s and 10s.

I used www.cars.com to check out the different available ones in my area, and also make sure that I was comparing apples to apples, since there were the tech and premium packages in those years, and that quickly adds up. One dealer is offering a 2010 with Tech and Premium packages (7K miles), and rebadged for $40K, and it's not even a Certified car, so no extended 100K warranty-that's when I looked into a new one, with the exact color combination I wanted, and that's what I went with.

Some pretty good deals depending on the dealer, and I noticed that non-Hyundai dealers usually offered better prices that the Hyundai ones; just my experience when searching in my area.

I just purchased a 2010 4.6 tech with 8,000 miles for 31,500 certified.

I had just bought a sonata limited full option in July......couldnt pass up the deal, and opportunity to get into the Genny.

I think the market for 2010 4.6s is quite limited. Production was small, and most owners are happy with the car. It is a special situation when someone unloads a year old 4.6, I think.
2009s are more plentiful. I have done some recent research on 2009 prices because I have had to dicker with my insurance company over valuation of my totaled 2009. What I found was that just about all 4.6s have the Tech Package. The market is not differentiating, yet, 2009s which have the 2010 suspension (built after April, 2009). Very few 4.6s go to auction; and there were just ten sold at auction nationwide during December at an average price of $25-26K. My research came away with valuing a nice 4.6 with average mileage being listed by dealers at $32-35K. There are probably private party offerings, but I never saw one.
Next fall 2009s will be coming off three-year leases; and one can expect to see a lot more on the market, probably at lower prices.
I think the ultimate price one pays depends on the dealer's financial situation, and your tenacious bargaining skills.

i finally got around to asking my friend what he saw at Manheim auctions. he doesn't differentiate between Tech and non-Tech though.

he said:

2010: 27K-32K
2011: Too new, only one when through an auction in the entire country within the last month. Had 13K on it, sold for $33,250

2009 4.6: 21.5K to 27K, about 1K less for the 3.8. A 2009 4.6 with 14K for for $22,600 on 2/3/11. This year seems like a better price, but the V8 is much rarer than the 6.

Dealers around me are giving $22-23,000 as trade in's for 09 tech V8 with 20K miles.

My dealer is asking $29,900 for the '09 4.6 with Tech I traded in for the Equus. One owner (me), 16xxx miles, serviced only at that dealership. My guess is he'd let it go for about $1000 less, but they charge an extra $500 to certify cars. I know they don't like to keep "heavy" (higher priced) cars in used inventory for long, so who knows?
(Black/Black, not a scratch or ding on it)

I recently took delivery of a 2009, v8, tech pack with 20K miles, Hyundai certified. Paid 26K. All services and washes done at the dealer - all recorded. The guy traded it for the Equus. In great condition. Really pleased with the car - way better than what I had hoped for. I had been negotiating with a local dealer on a 2009 6 cylinder, non certified and for the same price. Found this one out of town with all the bells and whistles. Fly out and drove it home. Great buy.

I live in Texas, but just purchased (2 weeks ago) a demo 2010 4.6 w/Tech (MSRP $43900) for $34158 from Shawnee Mission Hyundai outside of Kansas City and drove it home to San Antonio. It has 2400 miles, but never titled. As of 2 weeks ago, they had 2 more identical 2010 4.6's: 1 "ice blue" demo, 1 silver brand new. Steve Genova was the salesman (816-591-4735) and we did the deal via email, phone and Fed Ex---great guy.
