If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Finally drove both cars loaded but no AWD on the V6: there is a big difference and better ride in city streets/highways with the V-8 I am not a fan of all the "nanny" choices that Hyundai has made for me in the various "package levels". I guess I long for the days when you could cherry pick your way to a new car. There are choices in each of these packages, that I would not want or use, but there is always one or several that I want !:(

I am going to pass on the Genesis for that reason and because it is too much car for my wife who is used to a 1998 Monte Carlo. I will look at the Azera and possibly a CTS entry level.

The Azera's interior dimensions are nearly identical to the Genesis's and the exterior ones are only marginally smaller. It's still a large car. I would take a look at the new Sonata if you want to stay in the Hyundai family.

Have you looked at a 98 Monte Carlo? It is almost 201" long(longer than any Hyundai other than the Equis) There is 2" less width and 3" less in height. The Monte is larger than a 2014 CTS ! Back in its day, she was a mid-size car-now she is full size(tells you something about were we are headed).;)

My dad has a 2012 Azera. Pretty sweet ride except FWD. It has higher quality materials than my Genesis and options the Genesis didn't get until 2015. Also, the 3.3L is sweet at just a hair under 300HP.

I just had a 2012 Azera loaner and while it certainly looks good, the ride compared to my '15 Genesis is night/day. The new Genesis is solid, quiet and just feels more substantial (but not heavy). On top of that, the new Genesis materials are definitely higher quality.

As for 'nanny' choices, that is the way all cars are headed, for better or for worse. I myself like them so long as they still let you drive.

Drove the Azera with everything on it-ran like a dream and it was very much like driving a rear wheel car! Trunk is larger than the Genesis and seats feel the same as does the amount of interior space. Flew on MD 270 to over 80 without knowing it and I had not even given it my lead foot. Accent lighting is a plus and the driver aids are at a mini:)mum which prevents sensory overload. I've been told by many "best kept secrete in America" and I can see why the car sells in low figures here and over 100,000 per year in Korea. Now, if the wife likes it!!!!

I just drove about 200 miles in a new 2014 Azera rental. It was a nice car - but paled in comparison to my new 2015 Genesis and the difference is significant, though that's to be expected with the price differential. Also, I don't know what model Genesis you sat in, but the seats in the Ultimate are several orders of magnitude more comfortable/supportive than the Azera - huge difference there!

When you say "better ride on v8" how exactly does that better ride manifest itself?

Azera Limited with premium package(Loaded)-seats front and back were great and the rear seats are heated!

When I rode in the 3.8, it was OK but it is not as great as the V-8 when it comes to ride and acceleration, The V-8 has a more pleasant ride and the whole car feels like it is at a higher level. When I compared the 3.8 to the Azera, I thought the Azera beat it out in all but the "nanny" department!

Big $$$$ difference here and each to his own-just thought I would put in my observations. At 3,600 or so lbs. you get low 6 second speed and much better gas millage and you can carry more in the trunk-especially, when you pull the two trunk release knobs and drop the rear seats!:)

I've driven the Azera and Cadenza multiple times. They're comfortable, quiet, and refined. Having said that, the Genesis 3.8 is more comfortable, quieter, and more refined - after all, it's in a higher class and is the current flagship for the brand globally...sorry, Equus.

You'll notice a big difference with the slightest spirited driving. While the Genesis isn't a sports sedan, it will be far more confident in the turns than an Azera.

Also, all the "nannies" on the Genesis, like on every car with driver assistance features, can be turned off.

Be sure to test the Kia Cadenza if you like the Azera so much. Many mag tests rate it better than the Azera.

Have you even considered the Avalon?
The redesign looks like a very nie looking automobile.
It would be a nice comparable with Azera or Cadenza.
And it's a Toyota so you can't go wrong.

Sonata is not in the same ball park as the Azera-nice, but not that nice, The Avalon is in the same ball park but the ride and interior are not(IMO) I did drive the new Impala-road noise and 6 speed shifting that you could feel when pushed turned me off as did the 20" wheels, The 19" were a bit better but the noise was still a distraction. Still liking the Azera:)

Point is the Azera is not in the same ball park as the Genesis-nice, but not that nice. ;)

I was in a new fully loaded Avalon and honestly the ride was nothing short of horrible. The older version was extremely comfortable.

After reading the rest of the posts in this thread, I think Marylandrauder prefers a relatively soft ride. I determined that especially from his comments about the new Toyota Avalon (as well as other comments).

Many professional auto reviewers have commented that the 2015 V8 Ultimate in standard ride mode (it has adjustable suspension), has a softer ride than the V6 (non-adjustable suspension). Most reviewers favored the V6 even over the V8 in sport mode setting, because they thought it was better balanced. So I can see how someone would think that the V8 standard mode suspension was softer and more comfortable than the V6. However, many on this forum (and the automotive press in general) prefer something a little more firm and sporty than the standard V8 suspension setting.

Likewise, many in the automotive press are raving about the new Avalon, which no longer drives like a large boat (that has been characteristic of many large American cars over the years).

The days of the Buick Dynaride. Felt like you were cruising on top of a cloud. My grandfather's LeSabre was as smooth as they come. Turned a corner with the composure of a double-decker bus.

Soft ride-100% correct and let's not forget $, size, speed, and regular gas. So those out there do not think I do not enjoy a "sporty ride" - I do, but I also enjoy a car that will suit my wife.
I have a Mercury Marauder that the Genesis 5.0 is not in the same league with when it comes to speed and thrills. Having said that, I am looking for a car that takes me back to the days when a softer ride in nice surroundings was the norm.
If this opinion shakes some of you up then you should have heard the comments on my Marauder site when I announced that I wanted to get a new Genesis !!
There are many cars and many car lovers-for those of you I disappointed in not picking the 5.0 Genny, be happy I stayed in the Hyundai family and picked the Azera.:grouphug:
