  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In case anyone's interested, Mobil 1 lists a single filter, P982, which hfits the Azera, the Genesis (3.8 and 4.6), Genesis Coupe (3.8), and 2010 Sonata.

I would not be surprised if this is identical to the OEM filter, and just re-branded by Mobil 1 (or maybe they don't even bother re-branding it and just stock the OEM part and assign their own part number to it).

I know XOM had Champion Labs build their spin on metal filters. No idea if they use them for the cartridge type as well, but it wouldn't surprise me. The secondary oil filter market is a dizzying maze of companies, marketing and technologies. That's why I always default to OEM. Here's a website if you guys wanna brain your damage...
Oil Filters Revealed

This engine oil filter numbers can be confusing. I think Hyundai should maintain the same parts number regardless of the vendor change.

I am now about 2,370 miles on my 2010 4.6 and just had the car serviced at the dealership. They drained the initial fill and replaced with Mobil1 synthetic oil. The dealer used the oil filter service kit part #26320-3C250 and 7 quarts of Mobil1. The total came out to $84.73 with the following breakdown; $15.23labor, $7.36 for the filter kit, $54.60 for the Mobil1 (7 qts @ $7.80), $1.50 hazardous waste, and $6.04 sales tax.

With all these different oil filter part number on this post, I wonder if they used the correct engine filter:confused:.

The V6 and V8 filters are identical. Different part numbers because of the drain washer included with the V6 part number. The nature of the cartridge filters is such that it is unlikely that the wrong filter will even fit (I know that because about one year ago a dealer sold me the wrong Hyundai cartridge filter for my Genesis, and there is no way it could possibly fit).

Open the box to the new oil filter. If it has a smooth white top- it ain't it. Hyundai has accidently tried to sell me the wrong filter 2X. The correct filter has a raised black center pedestal. Hyundai Genuine Oil Filer # 26320 3C250

Changed my oil yesterday. Second change - 7400 miles. First one was a dealer comp. Took about 30 minutes. I let the oil drain for about 25 minutes. 27MM socket/ratchet, 10mm socket/2" socket extension/ratchet, phillips screwdriver and a size 6 hex/allen wrench are all that is required as far as tools. I used the 'signature series' Amsoil and a standard Hyundai MANN filter. DO NOT TRY using a adjustable on the 27mm oil filter cover-odds are you'll strip the plastic as it is on there nice and tight. I used a 1" socket with 18" ratchet and still had to apply a little pressure. I have a lift in my garage and so access to everything is easy. Getting the shroud off may take some time if you are on a creeper but still easy to do.
What other oil filters aside from Mann Filter could be the best for the Hyundai? And what's the best oil? Thanks

MikeRoss: I have a 3.8 Genesis and have changed the oil several times since my Genesis has over 10,000 miles. I use a WIX 57250 which I ordered in bulk on the web. Even though Wix is located in North Carolina, the WIX 57250 is made in Korea and appears to be identical with respect to the factory supplied filter. I used a factory supplied filter for my first oil change. By the way, since I'm planning to keep this car for 100,000 miles or more, I bought 2 dozen filters at less than $3 each.

What about the 2 rubber gaskets and drain plug crush washer?

The rubber parts and aluminum washer are included with the WIX 57250. I did contact WIX and determined that this filter is recommended for the 3.8 Genesis and meets OEM requirements.

how much were they a piece?

I paid less than $3 each; however I bought 24 filters. This quantity qualified for free shipping.

My wife and I will put about 20,000 miles a year on the Genesis. It has been my practice to change oil every 3000 to 4000 miles. So, to answer your question, I have changed oil 3 times and the Genesis has a little over 11,000 miles on it. I bought it in January, 2011. I keep a car 100,000 miles, or more; so, 4000 times 24 equals 96,000 miles. I'll likely have to buy more filters before I sell this car.

That's 1667 miles a month. You're changing the oil every 2-2.5 months? You may want to think about Extended Life oils. You can extend those out to 10k miles easily. Unless you really like changing the oil in the car, as a hobby and sense of satisfaction.
