  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Want to ask other Genesis sedan owners about chips in front of rear wheels.

My Genesis will be a year old this Thanksgiving. I currently have 7100 miles on it. It has not been on any gravel roads and rarely been out in the winter on bad roads.

I have noticed tonight after waxing the car that it looks like I have been peppered with a bunch of small round marks that doesn't look as severe as rock chips but looks like some sort of road debris damage.

I would describe these marks as scuffs that are mostly right in front of the rear wheels where it flairs out some. There are actually little plastic pieces that cover these I think to help protect the lower body.

Not only are these scuffed and pitted up but it extends in front of that to just underneath the rear doors.

I do have the Genesis mud guards on all the way around but after looking closer tonight I don't think especially the front mud guards do much good.
They just don't extend down very far. In looking at in more detail it looks like more debris can get underneath the guards than what I think the guards are stopping.

That said I can't figure out how I could be picking up enough stuff to be doing the damage I'm noticing. Most of the damage is on plastic parts although some is on the rear doors now to.

With this many little scuffs on it and its not even a year old makes me wonder and worry what can I do now? Some damage is done but what can be done to prevent more? If you tried to somehow extend the front mud flaps to the ground that wouldn't look very good at all either.

The tires and pretty big and no doubt kick up some debris but gee.........I am really bummed out between this now and the rough ride that I have!

Have any of you experianced this type of problem? I sure hope that none of you have but I can't help but think that I can't be the only owner with this problem.

Many of you are probably like me and can't stand one little ding, dent, or chip. Like I said I'm feeling pretty down about it.
