  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 3.8 Tech and my wife really wants a wood steering wheel. Would prefer the factory one on the 4.6 without paying the dealer retail $$$$.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Those are tough to get - you could try an aftermarket solution like this one, but beware - they are expensive.

Hopefully you can find someone who has a spare after upgrading to one of those I just posted above. Couldn't tell you where, though. Sorry.

Good luck.

I would not call the above pic "after-market" since it is an official Hyundai part, albeit for the Korean version of the Hyundai. Here is one company that imports Hyundai parts from Korea and sells that particular item:

You should be able to order it with Hyundai logo (instead of wings) from a Hyundai dealer. These are not really wood, but "wood finish" since real wood is not durable enough for a steering wheel. I believe that the controls on the wheel are for the 4.6 Tech Model only, and not sure if the controls have changed over the years (you didn't say which model year you have).

I bought this one from KAI - it's not cheap, and it doesn't come with controls or airbag:

You have to swap the controls/airbag from your OEM wheel to the new one. So if you want the airbag with wings instead of the lazy H you'll have to buy a new airbag as well. I have had this wheel for about a year and really like it - it was expensive but I'm not sorry I got it.

I have the original 4.6 tech wheel which has some wood grain because I replaced it with the unit above. If you're interested pm me and I will take some photos.

Hi Metro 201,
How much did you spend to install the steering wheel? Thanks

Has anyone seen a black wood grain wheel to match the black wood grain on the R Spec?

I have a factory 4.6 tech package steering wheel for sale with the air bag, anybody interested? It has the stick on genesis wing emblem.

$695 for new wheel PLUS installation......I.Just started to really love the stock one, I have, more and more each day!!!!
