well neither do Lexus and Toyota, but I think any certified ASE tech can change oil and do general maintenance without much of an issue all of the models service manuals are available to them online. For major warranty issues I agree, go to the brand.

To add...I would not suggest buying a Genesis if you are over 100 miles out of even anticipated dealers. Could get ugly.

Outside the 50 mile radius you can call Genesis roadside assistance if the car breaks down. They will pickup the Genesis and take you to the dealer, where you will get a concierge vehicle. You have road side assistance for 5 years, unless you opt for the Platinum Service Plan and then for 10 years.

Concierge service naturally needs to be limited. However, Santa Fe, NM is over 60 miles away from Albuquerque and they deliver a Concierge vehicle there. So, I think it may have to do more with the particular dealer, then Genesis themselves.

If you do purchase a Genesis and the dealer is 100 miles away, I believe not having the Concierge service, is an obviously not a valued feature for the buyer.

I don't like others driving my Genesis anyway, so I arrange to have one available at the dealer. Then I set the BlueLink to alert me of any violations due to Geo-Fence, valet and speed alerts. They are worth the cost involved.

The current generations of The Toyota Avalon and Lexus ES are powered by the same base 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which is also used in the Highlander, Camry and Lexus RX, but there are tuning and configuration differences between them giving the Lexus version slightly more power:

Yeah I'm not sure WTH is up with this forum, I've been on a lot of car forums over the years and I have rarely seen this amount of issues without moderation of any kind in a long time.

Anyways I did get some answers back, much like people have reported they are firm on the fact that only an actual Genesis dealer can do it. They were also quite non committal in having a dealership on Vancouver Island. They "just added one in Kelowna" so they weren't sure that was going to show up before the SUV line launches in the next bit. Our population in the south island is probably 2x that of Kelowna, and its wealthier overall, sheesh.

They cited what was mentioned above by others, if the car experiences a breakdown they will tow that sucker back to the closest Genesis dealer, and in my case even if that means going over on a ferry! I asked and the rep said they would put that in writing. Not 100% ideal but it's something. Not sure how they'd address me getting my ass home, if I had to ferry with the car to the dealer to get a loaner that would be quite "entertaining".

I'm generally OK with this as I feel the odds are slim there will be a real breaking issue like this but the whole scenario has made the wife a bit concerned over it all, may make the C300 a more attractive option on that alone.

Price for what you get here is still really damn good, the lease rate is very competitive at 1.9% and the trade in on my Santa Fe Sport is I feel pretty good. With another 1k for Hyundai loyal discount is its main saving grace right now. It'll be a hard decision especially if the benz dealer comes up with a decent trade in value when I visit them this weekend. Only wish Kia had a better set of financing rates on the Stinger or I would probably just go that way TBH, the 2018's are being blown out right now.

The forum was set up as a hobby by an enthusiast. He has a real job and other life aside from here. There are no full time moderators. Most people behave without a nanny.

Sal has also paid for the servers and software and relies mostly on donations from members to pay for it all. Would be nice if some members would pay a few bucks for the value received.
