  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just bought a JB4 for my G70 2.0T, what plugs do you guys recommend if any are necessary, I have read a lot and only see specifics for the 3.3t.
Just trying to barely keep up with my brothers 2021 G70 3.3T Sport. Thanks
Ok so I got the HKS M45 Super Fire Racing Spark Plug (50003-M45XL)
Let me know if thats correct. Thanks in advance.

Hey guy why do I have to disconnect and reconnect again the CANbus wire for it to allow me to rev at my own desire

I just installed my new gapped HKS spark plugs and JB4 today. My lord, the pull feels ridiculous. I had some guy in a Dodge Challenger 392 Scat Pack fly past me with a screaming exhaust note, but he got stuck at the light on the access road. He started revving his engine, so I took that as a sign. I absolutely torched him off of the line and in the quarter mile. 😲

So, we have 93 octane here which is what I’m running, of course. I have been using Map 3. Would it be safe to run Map 4 or 5?

The JB4 will not like it...it has safety measures in place...you will feel the car stall out.

Next step is to either do an an E85 blend...or get some BOOSTane Pro...which is what I did. It will blow your mind.

I actually stopped doing it...as I drive so little now...and don't want the booster sitting in my tank. So I am running just 93 and Map 2. Sometimes I go Map 3...but I've settled down. Map 2 is crazy plenty for me.

I found a station right by my house that has E85, so I’ve been using 4 gallons of that topped off with 93 octane since. It runs amazing on Map 4, enough to embarrass a 2021 BMW M340i in a 60 to 100 mph run. So, I’m pretty pleased. However, i’ll provide a word of caution. When I returned home immediately afterwards, i turned the car off and noticed that the cooling fan was still running on high. So, I turned the car back on, switched back to Map 0, and took a five minute drive around the block. The fan stopped after that, and I haven’t had the issue come up again. I’ll keep an eye on it though and let you guys know if it happens again.

I let my car idle for ~45 sec. before I turn it off, always!

These cars can run on E85? I have plenty of E85 in this state, but unfortunately, we have 0 pumps with 93. 91 is as high as we go.

When you are running the E85 blend do you make any changes to the tune? I have been running boostane but am considering an E85 blend.

Not straight E85, but a blend. There are articles out there that it explain it more in depth, but based on what I’ve read in here and in the articles, I use a mixture of about 4 gallons of E85 and the rest is 93 octane (10 to 12 gallons). That has allowed me to run in Map 4 with no issue so far. The mixture for 91 octane would be different though.

Even more so after going to the drag strip on Friday night October 12, 2018 and got beat by a bone stock Volkswagen Jetta GLI 2.0L turbo by about half a car length that only had a tune done. Did two runs. The first run was dead even. The second run was when he beat me by about half a car length. I did beat a few mustangs and Camaros though 😁

Find me a bolt on kit and someone to tune it and I’ll jump on that ASAP! So serious!

A bone stock tuned Jetta. :p They're very quick...
:ROFLMAO: I love this. I'm taking delivery of my '21 G70 3.3t this week, but it'll be worlds slower than my '12GTI tuned with the Golf R turbo (k04). That EA888 engine is such a peach. Incredibly extensible. It'll take at least a tune on the 3.3t to match the GTI, if not intake and downpipes as well. BEWARE the mk7s and mk8's are even faster tuned, too.

Now, there's no getting around physics. Worst thing about the GTI is the engine layout - not only FWD, but the transaxle and mounting can only put so much of that power to the ground. It'll spin the wheels through 50mph

Quick question if you were just staying on Map 2 could you NOT gap your plugs and run the stock ones to save money?

You wouldn't be saving much, just about $250 parts/labor to replace them with "colder" ones.

Well for me I know that level 2 is fine for me so If I don’t need to change them I won’t bother unless those plugs provide other performance results. Now if they are required for level 2 then for sure it’s a no brainer

That timing chain tensioner is a nightmare though. If that thing fails and your timing chain skips, bye-bye engine 😩

It's overblown in my experience. People tend to put too much stock in what they read on car forums - it's like assessing the health of a community by their emergency room. My car hit 150k miles and the only issues I had were O2 sensors and sway bar end links.

I’ve never owned one so I’ve never been to a Volkswagen forum. I just like to watch engine tear downs on YouTube and that little bugger seems to be the culprit. But who’s to say how those engines have been maintained prior. I will say when they are good they are great!
