well, i took another test ride on the genesis last week.
i had posted here before asking for advice on this car and got some answers thank you.
as much as i like the genesis, on the last ride i took out a v8 and found :
A SLIGHT VIBRATION coming thru the steering wheel .more akin to the vibes felt on a 4 cylinder japanese bike . this is lousy given what they are trying to say with this car .
AND THE RIDE , even though it is great ,i did have a bad feeling about it lasting . i think that this is the type of car that deteriorates with time .
i found the ride, firm ,to my liking . but i have a feeling that the quality of materials under the hood may not be there. only a feeling.
i may be wrong .
POOR QUALITY MATERIALS and i do know that some of you may question this one but on very close inspection i found the i drive knob to be sort of flimsy and the menu it gives you acces to rather unrefined as compared to the infinity, bmw, mb,and others such as audi.
again, this is no big deal given the price difference here and i could live with it .
some of the surfaces are rather flimsy and badly finished. again not a major issue if you consider the price point
THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT does not have full articulation. it can only move back and forth but not ---up and down ---. big negative for anyone riding/seating here. this is a major issue for my wife and anyone riding with me.
THE DISCOUNT given to me of $ 5,000 on a 2009 is not sufficient for a car that has been stalling at northeast dealerships where the 2010 is not yet available waiting for dealers to unload the 09's.
had the discount been deeper ,say $ 8,000 then yes, maybe.
and the discount on the 2010 ,also too poor at $3,000.
and the BLOGS...........the majority here are very impressed with their cars . but there are some complaints ...vibrations, computer problems , one of the cars i test rode had a defective rear view camera.
overall , i found that 8 out of 10 loved their genesis . and i may be wrong ,who knows ?????????
therefore ,i am passing on this one ,for now anyhow .who knows , i may come back to it .
and what will i get .??? well ,another reason for passing is the fact that the new bmw 7 series is coming out this spring with the 6 cylinder inline twin turbo engine.
this may be a big mistake given the stealership practices near where i live and the high prices for parts,etc.......but ,you only live once.
so ,this is one to consider.
i also saw the new porsche Panamera yesterday and though too bulky for my taste ,the interior is perfect like the infinity m and the bmw. i turned down a etst ride on it becasue i found the rear 3/4 of the car too bulky looking and
again, who knows .........
and next is the new 2011 infinity . i do have a fx35 and it is great , a sports car in a suv package .very firm ride ,great handling .
we will see
and please guys ,i am not putting any car down, i may still come back to genesis next year if they improve the pass. seat and other. but not for now
