  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The flames were flying in short order. I compared my recently acquired 2011 Genesis to my Lexus GS350. I made a statement that the GS350 was like a toy and a cheap compact and that the Genesis was a better car to me.

Some folks over there agreed with me and a few got very nasty. The thread was moderated, many posts deleted and my posts were changed. I was threatened to be ousted from the forum after 9 years of membership, because I was just 'baiting' everyone. I posted in their Car Chat forum, but I really don't think that they want to hear about a Hyundai being better than a Lexus. I am glad that the Genesis is better than my Lexus. It's Cheaper!

For your reading enjoyment

woohoo!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Just be glad that you got out of there alive. I purchased one of the first 2007 Lexus LS460 when it came out. After posting about several problems and my disappointment with Lexus and my LS460 you would have thought that I had torched the American Flag. When I posted that I was trading the car after eight months of ownership and what I was trading for it did not get any better. Now , do you think that I am about to go on the Lexus Forum and tell them that I think the Genesis is better than the LS460 and I can give them several good reasons why I think so with proof, you are crazy.

Its funny to read some of the posts. Some people get it and some do not.

Re: Well, I put a short review of my Genesis on the Lexus Forum.....They didn't like

I didn't read the whole discussion but some of those guys do have trouble "getting it". It's okay for Lexus to do what Hyundai is doing - but not vise verse. Then again, it's to be expected.

The administrator, DaveGS4, is a very level-headed guy...

Personally, I think it is a little rude to start such a thread in a Lexus forum. Most people call that trolling. Besides, only a comparison between a 2011 Lexus and 2011 Genesis would have been fair (and not a comparision between a 2007 Lexus and 2011 Genesis).

You may think it is rude for people to troll but what is disturbing to me are people who go on forums and post on cars that they do not own and have no intentions of purchasing.Personally I would not troll but if a person owns are had owned the car to whoms forum he or she is posting than I would think it would be fair game but that is just my opinion.

+1
I don't think he was trolling, some folks over there are just hypersensitive. He posted in "car chat" about a car he owns and tried to give some perspective. He might have left out the "toy" comment or worded it differently but if that is how he really felt then so be it.

Well if somebody came here and said.

I would not take it lightly either. You basically threw insults at them. Sure you can state you like the Genny better and why but a cheap compact toy??

read through the whole thread last night. wish i could read the posts that were deleted. what i got from it is that it is a real accomplishment for the genesis (and hyundai) to be even mentioned in a lexus thread. you would not get 9+ pages of healthy discussion five years ago.

i will admit that i'm a semi brand snob. but switching from sony to vizio (and having good results) has opened up my mind a bit. i'm seriously considering the genesis and would be proud to hand over my keys to my children one day and say that this car paved the way for the hyundai luxury segment...

Maybe it was a bit harsh. But you have to understand. After my test drive I had to endure pages of "It's a Fricken HYUNDAI".

cut throat you did nothing wrong. All you did was to defend yourself from the biased crew at Club Lexus. You have owned the cars we are comparing. None of them have . I don't know where they come off insulting you or your decision when they have never even driven a Genesis or sat in a Genesis. I own a higher end Lexus as well and feel that the car isn't the fabled car that everyone makes it out to be. This is why I would would consider a genesis. These guys at Club Lexus keep forgetting the comments people made about Lexus when it started in 1989.

"what 50k for a Toyota.....you must be insane". Well look at them know. I have a feeling that , like many Benz and BMW owners ate their words with Lexus, the Lexus guys will be eating those words sooner than later.

I do agree that calling your Lexus a toy just pissed them off more . I think the review would have been taken more seriously if you didnt go that far. All in all I am happy that you are loving the new car. In fact I took the wife down to the Hyundai dealership to take a closer look at the Genesis. She said it looked like a Mercedes or BMW. I have to agree. The lines of the car are gorgeous and the size is fit for a king

Re: Well, I put a short review of my Genesis on the Lexus Forum.....They didn't like

Come on guys/gals. It isn't trolling if you've been a member of a forum for years and then post a topic about a new toy you bought.

You better believe that if I bought a brand new (insert car here) that I'd let you all know about it. I would never call the Genesis a toy though.... on the basis of not believing that it is.

Lexus GS is mid size car.
Genesis is full size.

Those guys simply can't get their heads around the fact that they paid tens of thousands more for a comparably equipped vehicle plus a prestigious nameplate. They don't even want to hear about it. That's why Cut Throat was treated so harshly.

Re: Well, I put a short review of my Genesis on the Lexus Forum.....They didn't like

Its called Brand Intoxication.

...and we here at genesisowners.com are not impervious to it.

Uh... 75-90% of the posts on that page are supportive of you & your new Genesis. There's only a very small minority bashing Hyundai on that page, or on tear because you insulted their Lexus. I think you're just seeing so much negativity because you expected negativity. They really are surprisingly supportive and open about the Genesis, upon reading that thread.
