  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What’s with all the new “used” red ones I’m seeing for sale everywhere?

I just scooped one of these up yesterday.

On Monday I test drove a 2020 3.3 AWD Sport in Mallorca Blue. Dealer wanted $50k to finance, $47k to lease.
On Tuesday I noticed a different dealer had three 2019 3.3T AWD Sports in red posted on the genesis certified site. All 3 with less than 50 miles and posted for around $37 - 38k being sold as "pre-owned" certified.
On Thursday I made the journey and drove off with one for $36900.
While the finance guy was doing his thing I met a guy who arrived like 2 hours after me and said he was there to snatch up the second basically sight unseen. I'm not sure he did tho because it's still posted on the site.
The third one had a "Hold" sign sitting on the dash when I first got there. When I drove off the third guy had arrived and was checking it out.

Today (Friday) I call genesis and ask about being put down as the original owner so that I can get all the original warranties and other perks. They say no problem, and email me asking to provide:

- Original Vehicle Purchase Agreement or Bill of Sale

- Certificate of Title or Application for Certificate of Title

- Odometer Statement from time of purchase

Once reviewed and approved, they say all the original warranties and benefits go into effect and as long as the vehicle has less than 500 miles its not a problem. Mine had 70 when I drove off the lot. They say the car was originally titled to "Genesis of America" so maybe that makes things easier?

While Havana Red wasn't my first choice, the deal seemed too good to pass on, especially since its possible to get all the original new genesis warranties and goodies. I would recommend keeping an eye on the certified site - the first time I visit the page there were three 6cyl's posted, 2 days later only the 1 is left and also a few 2.0's in different trims for around 32-35k with less than 50 miles...

Great to hear that Genesis gave you all the warranties! I called them on mine and they refused. Their reasoning was that my car had been "repaired", but could not tell me any details. Mine had 86 miles on the odometer at purchase time.

That's nuts, you should get the warranty.

Sorry - let me correct this. They would not give me the concierge service with the free oil changes.

Did they give the remaining 10/100k warranty and the original ownership reinstated?
I'd call them again and buck them about the concierge service and the free oil changes for three years starting the date of delivery.

Especially with under 100 mi on the car, I think that's about what mine had (75?) delivered new.

Looks like you got it from Genesis of Wayne. That’s where I was shopping, who did you deal with there? I wasn’t really thrilled with them but we like the car/deal so I’m thinking of going back.

Basically had the same experience. It's definitely a high-volume Hyundai dealership first. I dealt with a few people all of whom didn't really seem to give a damn about me or selling a car. As best I could tell there was only one Genesis person there and she was the online sales rep. The others are Hyundai people just going through motions and you could tell they were fed up with, well basically everything. One of the guys even got confrontational with someone over monthlies on a Sonata (I think) so he just left.
Once they realized I was serious about wanting to make a deal on the spot it went smoothly enough I guess and I left with what I wanted for the price I wanted but the process was basically some kid shuttling offers between myself and some unknown person elsewhere.. I guess confirm the VIN of the car your looking at qualifies with Genesis for their warranty stuff and don't bother with the preowned cert jazz they'll try to push on you.
I just wanted to get the car and get out of there and not deal with them anymore. There's a much more local Genesis dealer I'll be working with for service and warranty stuff and look forward to not going back up there. I'm not sure I would want to deal with them if they were my only choice for service and warranty work tbh..

Took about 2 weeks, but I did get the email confirming the process went through and I'm now officially listed as the original owner of my "pre-owned" 2019 Red.

We have completed the retail delivery report change for your 2019 G70 , and you are now listed as the original owner.

Interestingly, when I created my genesis owners account and registered the car's VIN, I only had 23 months left on on the connected services stuff and I had expected 36. I'm guessing the missing 13 months applies to the warranty/maintenance as well..? There were some notifications during signup/agreement that it would take up to 24 hours to get everything updated so maybe that will change. Otherwise another call to Genesis may be in order..

Also, I had a chance to see the original window sticker after registering my account and found that its a "Dynamic Edition" whereas the dealer was telling me it was a Sport model. The preowned window sticker on the car had it listed as "Advanced AWD".. I'm not sure on the difference yet.

Just checking on how it's done, did you call first, go through website registering or did the dealer register for you?

My order of events went:

- Purchased the car preowned. Dealer did nothing.
- Called Genesis about ownership next day. Got a confirmation email and case#
- Create my own genesis owners account and tried(failed) to add VIN to my account
- Ownership confirmation email from genesis
- Login to owners account and successfully add VIN followed by agreements for services and such.

Here is what I did. back in April amid the COVID-19 situation.
Opened an account first then I called Genesis.
It took a few hoops t get to talk to a real person.
Explained to her the situation and she opened a case # on my behalf.
Submitted all the docs requested.
Waited a couple of days.
Check my account again. Voila!
It has reinstated full 3 years Genesis C.S. starting the day I purchased the car as well as my remaining 5/60 (from the day Hyundai purchased the car in 2019) which it would happenby default anyway so no big deal there.
A month later Genesis sent me an email confirming I am now the first owner of the vehicle (Not Hyundai as previously titled) and better yet as the first owner I've also received the remaining 10/100k.

Trying to decide among a few different options:
2.0T w/19" rims for $31.5 -50 miles
2.0T w/18" rims for $33.5 -50 miles
or
3.3T base for $33.5 with 9550 miles - service loaner

The 18s are actually preferred for us, this car is for my wife so the benefits of summer tires are lost on her and I'd have to switch them every winter/spring

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The 3.3 would be nice, but it's the base model and with that many miles as a service loaner, you know that many drivers dogged the crap out of it.

Not sure about your wife, but mine would not know the difference between the 2.0 or 3.3. Might as well get the more comfortable 18's, as long as the trim package isn't less than the car with the 19's.

You're right about my wife, I don't think she'd even know it was the 3.3 The two 2.0s are odd, both have the prestige and elite packages one has the 19s & one the 18s but the one with 18s is $2k more for some unknown reason.

The tires come in a package, maybe you can take a closer look to make sure they really have the same packages. Typically the 19s are a step up. These are 2019's?

In the 2020, the Standard and Elite have 18" wheels and are the same all around, meaning you can rotate them front to back. The Elite adds considerable options over the Standard, worth the money.

The staggered 19's come on the Prestige and Sport, but the Prestige has all-seasons and the Sport has summer tires. Not sure staggered is worth messing with when you have the 2.0.

The Prestige adds a lot of nice features like heads up display, ventilated seats, and wireless charging pad. The Sport adds more but they're not as big (to me).

Check out the online configurator at the GENESIS website.

These are all 2019s. The only difference between the 2 is the 19s - Dynamic Package. Otherwise they're the same as far as options.

Okay. Sounds like the package options changed names between 19 and 20. I can't see the 19 configurator anymore.
