If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What cars did you consider buying when you bought your Genesis?

I am considering buying a Genesis, but am also considering a used Infiniti M or BMW 5 series. What other cars did you consider when you bought your Genesis and why did you decide to get a Genesis?

Considered Audi, Lexus and Infiniti. I couldn't consider a BMW because I was getting rid of a BMW for concerns about owning it out of warranty. I looked at the G and the M and just didn't like the interior or exterior styling. Also, I had never been a real fan of Nissan. I have previously driven several LS models, but Lexus quality has been declining as Hyundai's has been improving. Audi was out of the question because of previous horrendous quality issues. I drove the R-Spec after driving the new 3.8 (I had driven the 4.6 several times a couple of years ago). Seeing it, driving it, and then seeing the price made the Genny choice pretty easy. I have not been disappointed. :)

Lexus ES350, Infinity M........I did not want to like the Genesis when I did my 'Due Diligence' Test Drive......I was blown away by the Genesis test drive.

I've eyed the Genesis since it went on the market. Was a 3-series driver for years and in 2011, purchased a Mustang GT which is being lemoned next month.

I'm looking at:
3/5 series
C/E class
S60
Acura TL
Camaro SS
Challenger RT/SRT8

Wide range. Yet, over and over again, I find myself wandering the back lot of my local Hyundai Dealer sitting in Genesis 4.6/5.0 sedans. I think the biggest draws to the Genesis for me are:
  • Value - RWD, high power, vehicle for ridiculously low price.
  • Special - I don't like driving cars that are a dime-a-dozen.
  • Quality - Car screams quality. Everything fits, quiet, solid.

My biggest concerns right now are:
  • Drivers seat - very little upper back and lateral support and can't seem to find a comfortable supportive position easily each time I get into one.
  • Technology - Understand there is no A2DP and iPhone integration poor.
  • Handling - I get great satisfaction from taking curves at speed. I know this is no Mustang, but not sure the Genesis (even in R-Spec) is capable of satisfying that need. Requires some additional test drives.

Cert. 2009 BMW 550i, 2011 Acura TL, 2011 BMW 330i, but genny won.

I bought a coupe and love it.

I looked at Camaros and Mustangs. Chevrolet's sales gimmicks turned me off. Every little thing you add to the car costs more and more. Nickle and dime you to death. Mustangs looked okay but no yellow color, not really yellow.

The warranty was way beyond Chevy and Ford. The extended warranty was cheaper than Ford (bought my wife a new Fusion in 2010 and they really took advantage of me for the extended warranty.) by a long shot. $760 for 100,000 miles bumper to bumper on the coupe. The 72 months, 72,000 miles warranty on the Fusion cost me $1800.

I really wanted to buy a lexus sc-430 or the lexus ES.
I had both a 06 Nissan Maxima and a 06 nissan Z. at the same time so i knew i did not want another nissan and just so Hyundai had the genesis. do i regret now buying the Genesis Yes. because of Hyundai service the very reason why i bought a Hyundai is because i really did not want to drive 60 + miles for service. and also hyundai was offering a loaner car. two hyundai dealership near me both no longer offer this service.and i really hate to have to stay at the dealership for 3 or 4 hours.

My Genesis is so reliable that I have never been to a dealer. I go to Tires Plus to get my Oil Changed. That's it.....That's why I bought the Genesis.

WTF are you doing at the dealer?

About 6 Days of having the car. the car had to go in for service some kind of cluster went out . about 2 months later i have a rattle from the right front when going over bumps. i also have a rubber on metal sound from the rear. mine is going back in for service this friday and i have only had this car brand new for the past 7 months

But i must say that the few problems that i have had has only been minor
i just wish that Hyundai service was like Nissan.

Keep in mind that you're speaking for yourself and your specific dealer. My dealer is great. Each and every dealer is different.

Walser Hyundai - Brooklyn Park

Maybe I receive great service because I was their 1st Genesis sale:)

It's nice to know they provide great service since they are closest to me although I'll probably buy from another dealer maybe even out of state since from what I recall they were priced higher compared to others.

Stopped in a looked at Jaguar when I started car shoping because I was returning my Ponitac G8 under the lemon law. Loved the looks of them but no leg room in the back, even though the car is bigger than the Genney or my G8
Test drove a lexus LS460 and liked it, but not the price tag.

I was on my way to look at a Ford Tarus SHO AWD or a Lincon MK Z. I had my grandfather with me who said to stop in at the Hyundai dealer. I said ok, just to apease him. Boy am I glad I did. They had a black R Spec in the showroom that blew me away. So I started doing research on the car.

I wound up finding a Grey one near my house and took the wife to look at it. Bought it a month later when my Lemon law went thru. For a woman who never wanted to drive the G8, I can't seem to get here out from behind the wheel of the Genney. we both love the car and I'm glad I got it.
