  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

Glad it worked but at 5 years and one deep discharge, I'd be looking for a new one.
As long as it hold a charge then it should be fine, but I will be ready if it does not one day. I drove it tonight with out any issue.

I usually keep it charged when the car is not in use, but I forgot to connect the charger the last two weeks and it did lose it charge down to 4volts. I doubt the battery would come back after doing that again.

I wouldn't play around with the 5 year old battery. Replace it and be done with it before it creates new unforseen problems.
AGM batteries usually last a long time if properly charged. I did not drive it for two weeks so it did lose it charge due to electronics that are still running in the background even when the car is off. However, I usually keep it charged when not it use so hopefully it last a while longer. I forgot to connect the Genesis to the charger for two weeks while it sat unused.

Even new batteries will fail if not properly charged and allowed to run down. My best bet is to keep the battery on a charger when not is use for a week or more.

I couldn't agree more with you Carguy75. I hard wired a battery tender hook up to my Genny. I plug into it when I know that I won't use the car for a week or more. I actually have all of my vehicles hard wired for a battery tender. Using a battery tender prolongs the life of your battery. I replaced my Genesis Battery when I noticed it was the original. I did not want to take a chance of finding out my battery checked out a 1000 miles from home.

Hence why I love AGM batteries. They are usually life long batteries if properly kept charged. My old stock battery did fine last night while I was at work. It held the charge even in the 35F cold and fired up strong this morning.

No need to replace a perfectly good AGM battery if it works and hold a charge. Lead acid batteries is hit or miss after they run down.

All washed, clayed and waxed.
Installed the oem 18" wheels with Vredestein Quatrac Pro tires..
and the G is ready for winter!

I'm selling my 20" staggered wheel and tire set.
If anyone is interested, check out the ad in the Classified section.

I agree, I also charge my battery every couple months (1 in the winter) as I dont drive far enough for the alternator to properly charge my battery. I am careful not to overcharge as I have read that can damage AGM batteries. Mine still has the original and no sign of degradation.

I use a Battery Tender smart charger to avoid overcharging. The charger has kept my 5 year old battery going strong. Only use it when I do not drive my car for a few days or longer.

Next project, coming up soon..
I'll be flushing out the AT-Fluid completely with a professional trans fluid exchanger machine.
Will also be replacing the trans pan w/attached filter and install an aftermarket trans cooler
along/in-line the oem atf cooler. I'll be using the Ravenol ATF SP-IV-RR fluid that is specific
to our 8-spd transmission.

There is a great BlackFriday deal going on now on this fluid till 11/30/20 if anyone interested.
The 3.8L 8-spd trans will require 11.09 US qrts (10.5 ltrs) for a complete flush.

Will keep you updated of how it all worked out.

My new 2 ton floor jack came in at the right time! perhaps, it was going to be my X-mass present. Oh, well....I'm using it now ;)
I punctured my rear tire last week, they tried to fix it by plugging it but it didn't work, still loosing air. The damage was too close to the edge, so I'm getting 2 brand new rear tires tomorrow morning. And because I purchased protection plan, I'll be paying ~110 dollars for both, saving ~600 dollars.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I actually ordered them through the dealer. I can send you the part numbers if you like? They are for a 18 g80 5.0
Thanks. I've looked them up before. Just haven't gotten around to getting them.

She's dirty AF! :grinlaugh: I took her on a road trip. A 750 miles from home to Conowingo Dam on Susquehanna River in Maryland. Never went that far, but it was a pleasure to drive it. Made it there in under 11 hours and I wasn't even tired. Tomorrow morning, I'm going back home.

I logged a 2000mi round trip in my 5.0 this time a year ago. 500 miles at a time is nothing to this car.

Honestly in a pinch, if you're west of the Midwest (have to cruise at about 80) and you leave early enough (leave by 5:00am) and you're traveling alone (have to be able to push it without worrying if someone traveling with you is going to get bored), it's possible to put 1000 miles on this car in a day and not be physically uncomfortable. Mentally is where the challenge lays. Have to be able to switch up the entertainment medium (spotify, satellite radio, audiobooks).

16 years ago I drove straight through from Austin to San Franciso in my Acura TL (something like 36 hours if I recall) to surprise my then girlfriend as she got off an international flight. We spent the night in San Francisco and hit the wine country the next couple of days. She skipped her flight back and we ended up driving back from San Francisco, hitting the Grand Canyon on the way (her first time seeing it). It was a good trip.

That would be a great drive... Heck, I've been in Houston for 12 years and never driven much further west than San Antonio.

I had a 2006 TL - That was a great car. It had 120k on it and was still going strong... until an old lady pulled out in front of me at an intersection and totaled it!
