Today I decided to just come to a complete stop on a back road that was fairly level with no traffic and just turned off the traction control, put the car in Sport mode with the Sprint Booster set to Race 9 and just floored the gas pedal for quick 0-60mph run. I have tested half pedal movement and 2nd gear starts, etc. lately, but since I have performance summer tires and it warming up I decided to just go all out wheel spin and all.
All I can say is WOW. I have been overthinking how to launch this car. I got a time of 3 seconds, no kidding. Every other time was about 5 seconds today at stop lights with me pressing the pedal half way down in ECO mode. However, it seems like the traction control is the limiting factor that was slowing down the initial launches off the line aside from the delayed throttle without the Sprint Booster.
I am sure the 3 second run was due to some decline in the road I tested it on, but still the time on a level road should be mid to low 4 seconds if a slight decline gave me a 0-60mph 3 second run. The car did move quicker than I tested before. The last time I tried to make a run without traction control with all-season tires; the tire broke traction and gave me a 5 second 0-60 run in sport mode a while ago. The Falken FK510 summer tires I have are sticky to be sure and did not lose traction. I will try again tonight and see if the 3 second time is consistent, however I am sure it will not be.
Here is my best time in my Genesis with the Torque app. Impressive, but I will have to make the run a few more times to be certain that my 5.0 is really a 3 second car. Probably, more like 4-4.5 seconds on level ground to be sure which is still respectful for this type of sedan.
