Drove through a construction site on the express way last week and they were cleaning out their cement truck with the water running across all lanes of the road. Got to work and both sides of my car was coated in slurry. Took it immediately to a touch free wash and it didn't help at all even after going through 2x. Had to get out my power washer and it still took 2 hand washes to get this crap off and it jacked up my
ceramic coating. So for the past 4 days the car has been on jacks while I scrub the undercarriage panels, rotated the wheels while cleaning, polishing and coating them. Clayed the car then hit it with all 4 stages of
Chemical Guys Optical compound-polish and reapplied 3 coats of Armor Shield iX
Ceramic Coating. Also took off the hood liner since my hood is vibrating so bad and found all but 3 of the weld/caulk points broken free. Inserted some dense foam weather stripping between the hood and weld areas then added some caulk and finished it off with some sheets of Kilmat 50 mil sound deadening sheets. The hood is like a rock now!
Also still trying to track down when is causing the vibration while driving at high speeds. I can't see any damage to the suspension or motor mounts. 3 of the 4
rims are new with all new tires aligned and balanced multiple times. Only thing I could find is that the front drive shaft part #49100-B1500 which I need to pull up my records but I think that is what Hyundai replaced last time. When you grab onto it and twist it there is a lot of play in it and it makes a tapping noise very similar to the flutter noise we all have. The other drive shafts don't make any noise at all when you twist them. Anyone know if this is normal?
Hopefully my map update will arrive today and I can install than and then put it all back together.
