  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What have you Raced?

There is no V8 IS-F. The biggest engine in an IS-F is a ~300hp V6. The R-Spec will win against those hands down. Now, if you meant RC-F, then the R-Spec has no chance.

The IS-F V8, if that was the letter destination for the smallish sedan, was cool. Someone told me the V8 is not available in 2015?

The reason you guys aren't seeing a big difference between the 4.6 and the 5.0 R spec is because your cars are stock. The first things that have to done to a R spec is a TIRE UPGRADE,INCREASE EXHAUST AND INTAKE AIR FLOW! You can accelerate to the cars potential if the ESC is pulling power like a 100 degree humid summer day. Leave the car in auto. not manual. The exhaust is so restrictive you might as well cap off the tailpipes. The pipe size and design are good but the secondary cats and rear mufflers must be replaced. The center resonator is a straight thru H-pipe design that flows well and eliminates some drone/ raspy sounds. The stock airbox is a good design and can be utilized once the resonators and filter are replaced. Once the R spec can get traction and breathe the only thing any 4.6 or 3.8 (sedan or coupe) will ever see is your taillights getting smaller from a roll or a dig. I pulled a manual 3.8 coupe so hard from a 20mph roll I thought he let out and hit the brakes. A stock Rspec sedan with traction and driven correctly should be capable of high 12 sec range.

Love the advice. Someday soon, will find good non droning pipes and cat delete you suggest. Plus the flapper removal on the air box.

If you're the spirited driving type, get tires first! A good set of rubber makes a HUGE difference! (hint: michelin pilot super sports do not disappoint as a summer tire).

Good point.

It has been replaced by the RC-F and it still has a V8. However, Top Gear tested it and it's extremely heavy for its size and handles ridiculously bad.

Thanks.

No problem sir! I don't mind helping and sharing my results. BTW...After testing my car with the flapper in the air box on and off I would not suggest removing it. At full throttle the flapper opens to increase airflow as needed. The engine seems to fall on its face and drone at moderate throttle with the flapper removed. The performance is more linear with it in place. Hyundai definitely did their research testing the Tau engine. The biggest restriction is the rear mufflers. It takes restriction to make a car that quiet and that was the plan for Hyundai.

Interesting. Which is suggested with your experiences above to leave the silly flapper installed. Less midrange and some more noise while on the highway? I keep hearing how off the line the car is more responsive... Which it needs.

Any idea on the mileage in verses removed? Just wondering.

I never raced any cars from the stop lights. I have more fun just dropping down a gear and pulling away from ~70mph....most of the time they tried to stay on my tail til 120, after that, they were giving up.
I hate that! Wide open road and doushebags want to ride your tail... As a police officer I don't condone Street racing but sometimes when you have to merge or get out in front... This car is a friggen Beast!

Which model year is your Genesis?

Not so much of a race per se.... but the other day on the freeway I was stuck as the last car in a long row of cars getting ready to merge from one freeway to another traveling about 60mph. A new Camaro came up really fast behind me and started tailgating and weaving back and forth. I knew what he was about to do once the lanes opened up because I was about to do the same thing. The freeway we were merging onto had both of the fastest lanes wide open. As soon as I could I punched it and cut far to the left across the empty lanes to get around the slow cars in front of me. He did the same thing and stayed on my rear until about 80. From 80-120 I pulled away from him easily. Then like a good citizen I pulled back into the slow lanes and set the cruise control for 70mph. I don't get too crazy these days but sometimes you just have to give these punks a what for.

:D

Wow, you're a LEO? I feel bad incriminating myself just now lol

Audi Rs7

Completely destroyed...

wow that is a fast vehicle (560 hp... yikes!)

after 90-130 he was pulling a little bit... then his second turbo spooled and pulled like a freight train. Left me standing at the altar with that look on my face...

RS7 is sweet. Many journalists believe it's under rated at 560hp and is more like 600hp.

Sunday I was minding my own business in the left lane doing about 75. had a lambo and another car pass me on the right like I was sitting still. I just waived it off. next thing I know, I got some other car (wound up being a Maserati) riding my rear. The road was wide open so I said screw it and nailed it as I changed lanes to the right. Left him sitting there. Hit north of a buck twenty before I started slowing down and he started passing me. :)

Tommy nice runs. I've seen your videos before on youtube. What's been your fastest ET in the R-spec?

8.7 in the 1/8th mile @ 93+ mph also it was hot out & engine was hot.
