I took the wife and kids to Knott's Berry Farm today and had a some great family time. As we were driving back up Beach Blvd to get onto the 91 I noticed a '83 or '84 Celica Liftback weaving through the lanes and driving basically like a nut. You know the type, it was lowered with after market
rims and fat tires, loud exhaust and painted several different shades of primer grey.
As we enter the on ramp this guy is trying to become one with my rear bumper, well I happen to know this on ramp pretty well, it is long, single lane but wide and has a pretty sharp 70 Degree turn before merging onto the 91 Freeway. So I decide that I would accelerate to freeway speeds a little quicker then normal and hit this turn at 80 MPH or so to see what this guy would do, if nothing else it would get him off from my bumper.
This guy tries to accelerate with me but when we hit the turn he lost it, the rear end started to come around on him and as he was trying to recover his front tire went over the curbing. Of course the proper thing for him to do was to add power and drift out of the corner, but he panicked and probably destroyed one of his
rims. He did keep driving so I knew that everything was ok.
My wife heard his car brake loose and she watched him hit the curbing, she asked what happened to him to get him to lose it? All I could say was that he made the mistake of trying to keep up with a Genny. We were so flat and composed through that turn that my wife didn't even complain that I was going too fast, it was just another day getting on the freeway.
