  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I thought since there was one of these threads for the sedan, I'd start one for the coupe. We've had our coupe for about a month and a half now and my complaints are in this order:

1. No memory seats. I'm almost 6' and my wife is 5'4". Every time I get in after she drives (or vice versa) we have to mess with the steering wheel, seat, and mirror positions. It's quite annoying. The sedan has this feature.

2. When putting the car in Reverse, the mirrors don't tilt down. Sometimes I can't see the parking space lines when I'm backing up. I like to back into spaces most of the time. The sedan also has this feature.

3. We have the power seat, only to find out there is only power on the forward and back position. Hello, I need to adjust the back support and the lumbar. So the seats are only half-powered. And yes, the sedan also has this feature.

4. Cabin noise. I understand that I'm close to the pavement, but come on, it can sometimes be difficult to have a conversation at speed. I don't know how much weight more insulation would add, but I think it could use a bit more.

I don't think the costs involved in doing these things would be that excessive, and the weight wouldn't either. Anyone else?

Sorry, I hadn't noticed those issues but there's a good reason. No one drives my coupe but me. My wife has her new Ford Fusion to drive.

My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that sometimes the traction control works (rear tires don't spin) and sometimes it seems to be out to lunch (rear tires break loose and spin till I let up on the gas).

The only other thing is it seems that bright yellow is a magnet for birds to crap on. I can park it in the same spot at work as my truck, my wife's jeep or my IROC and the coupe seems to get bombed more often with more spots that have to be cleaned off.

I also wish the exhaust was louder. I've got an edlebrock exhaust system on the IROC and believe it or not I get a lot of complements on how good it sounds. Some folks like exhausts to be a little loud if the tone is right.

It also seems to get real dirty on the back pretty quickly. Maybe the yellow paint just shows all that black stuff worse. A coating of tiny black particles builds up on the back of the car after a few miles. I'm assuming its exhaust particles being sucked up against the paint due to the way the air flows at the back of the car but I don't see this on my other vehicles.

Only 2 complaints,
#1 Drivetrain compliance. Power delivery is sometime necksnapping instant and sometimes it seems to wind up the drivetrain first and then move.
Especially at lower rpms (around 2000 rpm) it is jerky in its response.
And the manual gearbox, esp 5th gear, is rough, even after 33k miles.
Worst manual gearbox I ever had.

#2 Paint. It scratches very easy, none of my other cars were that sensitive. Especially the clearcoat on the wheels. Seems cheap.

Other than that I am very satisfied, fun car with good quality.

My wife does not have lumbar for her seat or power to move it. And no she does not drive my car. She has her OWN. 2010 Gears box for the 2.0 had problems because of newbee's did not know how to shift or a tooling problem. 2011 3.8 track that I have is rock solid, the only thing that is weird is going into reverse seems strange. All other manuals that I had the reverse was next to 5th at top right or sixth at bottom right. sometimes slowing down to shift to first you hit reverse, It should of had a LOCK out solenoid.

-Don't have complaints about power seat or tilt down side mirrors
-Don't have problems with bird pooping

I have absolutely no idea but people always hit my car in a parking lot for some reason. I'd think a bright yellow car will serve as a warning to others like, "Hey look, there's a car here, I better be careful" but apparently not. And believe me, everywhere I go I'd park as far away from people as possible or just park next to a wall / pillar to lower my chance of getting scratched.

Yellow, now that's funny about the yellow color getting pooped on. However, do you start your car in the garage? Possibly backed in with the exhaust facing a wall/garage door? My white sedan does the same thing with the black carbon build-up. I figure it's the exhaust at startup deflecting off the wall.

We have two Hyundai vehicles in the family. My only real complaint about both of them is the paint durability. The paint actually peeled off the front bumper of our 2007 Sante Fe and had to be repainted. The yellow on my Gen Coupe is very easy to chip off and seems paper thin. I wash the car often and wax it seasonally. The chips and marks I am finding are disheartening. Both of the paint jobs on our 2 Hyundai vehicles are a disappointment. So much so that it will be a consideration on the next vehicle we buy.

My sedan also has paint durability issues. I had two tiny rock chips in the area between the fog lamps and headlights. They morphed into one giant chip about the size of a quarter. So it now looks like I have a black spot there. Also, other places have quite a few tiny chips. I haven't had this problem with the coupe, however. The paint on that seems to be pretty good.

I don't have the car yet, but my complaint is that it isn't available in Blue Sapphire anymore for some reason. Apparently they're gonna replace it with Blue Shift, but I don't wanna wait another 6 months for that to happen. I think it's weird, because the show model on the AutoRAI was in this colour. It was also in the brochure and on the website.

I have had my 2011 G-Coupe for 2 weeks now and the only real complaint I have so far is the sissy horn they put on the car. Definitely going to swap that out. Wish Hyundai would have installed the running lights around the headlights like the Audi A series vehicles have. This is an aftermarket purchase as well.

I have a 2012 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Grand Touring Auto Transmission. Bathurst Black and have not had any of the above issues. I do wish it had more power, the car I traded for the genesis was a 2011 sonata se 2.0T. It was quicker from about 60mph and up to whatever top end is for both cars. I believe according to some reports about 140 for the coupe and 150 for the 2.0turbo (274hp for sonata vs 306hp for the coupe) pretty close in power and weight, but my sonata had the top end edge and seat of the paints feel as well. I wish I had my sonata back. Oh well maybe some one will come out with a few goodies for the V6.

My biggest complaint is that Hyundai did not design the coupe to accomodate the Tau V8. This could hav been a true world beater.

Cabin noise level, more than I thought

This was with the back seat up. The Camaro is nothing to brag about either in this department. The nothing with a Genesis name should be an entry level model. The 2.0t needs to go away or move to the Veloster and the GC with the 3.8 and the 3.3 turbo. No Supercharger

I have had my back end tore apart in the inside so I could have a good job on the window tint, and found no sound deadening material at all. They even use little pieces of rubber bands under all contact points for vibration rattles. There is at least 6 bands under the seats. Never seen this done before, little strange. If I keep it I will go total thru the car to up grade this to better sound deadening. Some metal components underneath are starting to surface rust. Need to put different paint on it.

Only had my 2012 GC 3.8 V6 for 2 days so no complaints at all so far about the car itself. Voice recognition for the bluetooth integration is not that great. No matter how I try I cannot get it to recognize "call voicemail".

And there's pretty much NO cabin noise in this model.

As well, I found today that the quality of talking over the bluetooth connection leaves much to be desired. I was talking to someone today and he said I sounded like I was in a wind tunnel. As for my side of the connection, his voice was hard to hear and there was noticeable echo. Luckily I don't take a lot of phone calls in the car.

Now I have one more to add, relating to the Infinity audio system. The counter (with iPod connected, anyway) can't seem to handle higher than 63'59". I sometimes listen to podcasts which go well over an hour, and when the counter passes 63'59" it goes back to 63'00". Annoying, but at least it doesn't stop playing. Perhaps the system will be firmware-upgradable :-)

The rear seats are very very cramped and low head room. All the while, the trunk is huge, so this problem could be remedied somewhat by moving the seats back six inches and eating into the relatively big trunk.
