  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your #1 complaint about the Genesis Coupe

Well, I've only had my 2.0T for 2 wks, no problems as of yet and hopefully none in the future.. I guess my only complaint would be backseat leg room, but can't really complain, not like it was hidden when we bought it, LOL! :D

I don't see anyone have any trouble with this car. Hyundais have been pretty reliable for the past few years, especially since the 04 sonata came out.

This coupe is a true coupe. The lack of back seat, leg, hip, and head room is typical of most coupe. Its the main reason that they not as popular as they once were. I do hope that Hyundai refines the GC to move it more upscale than where it is since it carries the Genesis nameplate.

I first said to ditch the 2.0t, but I say keep it with the sonata version of the 2.0t only, 3.8 333hp, and the 420+ V8. Work on the computer or electronics to make sure that all are refined in shifting and power bangs. Be sure that the torque up with the power, not just power alone. Torque is shortcoming on the Hyundai engines/tranny setup so far. Don't know if this is gearing or electronic management issue to be able to maintain the 100k powertrain warranty

I saw this after my orignal post but I will still stand behind more torgue. I would have rather seen both engines have torque north of 300.

I'm posting this here b/c I believe it is relevant. I was intent on a 6sp gt track, after driving the v8 sedan - decided that it was faster or just as... and the stereo and upgraded cabin sold the deal. if.... however the sema Hurricane will ever be offered that may be my choice.

Back head room is cramped.

Boot is huge but the entry and exit is small for big bags.

Ac controls are confusing!

That slushbox of a friggin transmission!! I've driven some cruddy manuals in my time but really?? Worst part is it actually gets harder to shift when the tranny warms up! Mind you, my car has 8500 miles and the tranny was already replaced once because of a "silent known defect" which made 5th grind past 2500 RPM. Now, when you shut the car down, you hear the throwout bearing slapping around in it and dealership says its normal. Go figure.

This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever read. To anyone who complained about the power seats, no seat memory, or the rear seat room. Youre stupid. If you know whats up, you are the only person who drives your car and you dont sit in the back seat. Its a sport coupe. Not a luxury sedan. Go buy an Equus.

My first post! bought the car last night.
2012 R-Spec white 6MT (no options)

Hope its not "crazy" to post complaints in under 24-hrs ownership, but things that quickly became apparent:

- Headrest seems oddly slanted/tilted Fwd. feels weird on back-of-head.
I monkeyed around with the fwd/back clicking movement, but it doesn't seem to adjust the angle any better.

- No cruise control

- wish they put some pockets along side the center tunnel, at least passenger side would be nice place to slide a few things

- R-Spec rides DAMN FIRM!

- R-Spec rides DAMN FIRM!
What do you expect from a sports coupe?

My complaints so far:
The bottle holder between the front seats can hold a 1,5 litre bottle, but just barely.
The radio... The i20 switches frequency automatically to stay on the same channel. The Genesis doesn't do that.

That Hurricane is a BEAST!! But the word on the block is that it was just for show and has no real future in the production.

Would have been nice to see that 400+ supercharged Hurricane. Guess I have to build my own.

Too small of a turbo and intercooler, i wished that they had put a T3 or T4 in there instead of the tiny T2 that is in there now. Also they don't have fog lights in my 2.0T premium package. And a torque gauge but no boost gauge.

I have a 2011 2.0T with 6k on it - pretty much brand new, still smells like new car inside... If the car is not at a dead stop, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get it into first gear without placing roughly 40 lbs of force on the shift knob to thunk it into gear while simply rolling at 5-10 km/h..WTF?!. I dont like doing this because I know its not normal and I dont want to break my car. My 1993 honda civic rust bucket with 280k shifted smoother than this vehicle!

Second gear is also very very difficult to get into gear as well when the car is either a) cold, or b) moving at any speed over 30 km/hour. Due to this , I sometimes find myself rolling into intersections struggling to get the car into gear and almost getting hit by other oncoming traffic because the car should have been in gear 5 seconds before it actually gets into gear which leaves me hanging and rolling through intersections at times while other drivers give me strange looks as though I don't know how to drive properly... Very fun.

I told Hyundai of Richmond Hill about this problem and they had the service manager test drive it. They of course said they don't see anything wrong with it but they have "documented it". Funny how as soon as I drove the vehicle off the dealership driveway I immediatley experienced the issue right off the bat lol. I'd like to also mention that the service manager ripped the heck out of my vehicle while test driving it since the mileage went up from 9.0litres/100 km to 10.5l/100 km and he only drove it 8 km's... WTF? Thanks very much for that Hyundai Richmond Hill. Much appreciated

Finally, Hyundai of Richmond Hill in Ontario sold me the car with unbalanced tires and even with only 6k on the car refuse to balance them for me without charging me... again, WTF?! 6k on the car and you wont balance the tires you sold me that were not balanced to begin with so now I have to drive with a "performance" vehicle I cant take over 100 km/h or else it rumbles violently - nice!

Sadly dissapointed with the service / performance / mechanics of a production vehicle that is now in its 4th year of production - would think they would have ironed out the kinks by now...guess not..

hummm I love my car butttttt......
bumpy ride.. guess cause of the low profile tires.. But I LOVE the way it handles curves..wink..

Problem with the bluetooth, pepole on the other end have problems hearing me

Only had my 2012 GC 3.8 V6 for 2 days so no complaints at all so far about the car itself. Voice recognition for the bluetooth integration is not that great. No matter how I try I cannot get it to recognize "call voicemail".

And there's pretty much NO cabin noise in this model.

I have the same problem..

LOVE MY GENESIS!!! this baby has some serious pick-up-n-go! but there are a few things I do not like....

1. Love my car - hate my trunk! I know, I know its a sports car, what do I expect!

2. Blind spot central - I am 5'10" you would think I should have a pretty good birds eye view of things, backing up even with the sensors, lots of blind spots.

3. Front Spoiler alert! - This is my 5th Hyundai, always drove Elantra's so I guess I am still getting used to this car sitting so low.....caught my front spoiler twice on those darn cement parking stoppers, it was the second one that did me in, broke the seal and cracked the bumper....$2,000 later.........yes, $2,000 not only had the bumper replaced........spent the extra $$ to have a modified aluminum skid plate installed......I am much more careful now when parking but nice to know I have the insurance of the plate should I over judge.

Curious question for all of you..........has anyone modified the intake or exhaust system....was considering it......gas mileage is not so great on this car....I know, I know its a sports car, what did I expect!

There are several little nit-picky things to complain about with this car but it all comes down to one major category; the model line. This car is supposed to be a coupe version of the Genesis, yet the trim levels and options available are different between the sedan and the coupe.

I've had my 2013 Genesis 3.8 GT for about a month and love the car. But I've read some of the tutorials and troubleshooting in the sedan sub-forum and wish I had some of those options (read: tilt mirrors in reverse, smart cruise, etc).
