  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

Ever since the beginning, the transmission and I are just not meshing. The car shifts fine, but we are not in sync. Does that make sense? Or, maybe it is I just cannot get a feel of the unpredictable/numb accelerator? I put about 25K mi a year working in sales driving all over metro Atl...so you would think I would have it figured out by now. For example, the other day I was in the parking lot, went to give it a little gas, and I notice it downshifts. Curious what gear I was in before the downshift so I switch it to manual and notice it downshift to 2 which means I was in 3rd gear in a parking lot?

When I leave my driveway, I have two hills I go down before going back up. When I ease down the street the vehicle refuses to upshift. In other words, it wants to ride the RPM's all the way to 2,800 holding in the gear before upshifting. Feels like crap to be honest. I am used to SUV V-8's that seemed to go into neutral when going down hill. This car makes you tap on the gas to make upshift or manually do it yourself.

Not sour grapes, just trying to figure this thing out. I want to like this car but I get frustrated sometimes

3rd gear for anything over 5 mph in this car is quite reasonable for just loafing along. It's surprising how quick it will still accelerate in 3rd if you've got any kind of roll going. And I'm talking the V6, the V8 probably more so.

It just takes Hyundai FOREVER to get parts. It almost seems like the dealers don't stock anything. It makes for a very bad service experience.

Black top banner in review camera display during start up "Reading iPod or what ever" resulted in fender bender in parking lot. Get rid of it.

No turn signal indicator in sideview mirror or heads up display.

Right now, it's an issue with peeling clear-coat on the front bumper of my 2013 Genesis. The paint is called White Satin Pearl. It looks like hell. Warranty on paint is good for three years so it seems I'm out of luck. My other vehicles are GM's, I've never had a problem with peeling clear-coat.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I AM HAVING the same issue in some places.... Rear bumper and thanks to my long driving, the front has rock chips everywhere.
Paint is VERY POOR (White satin pearl). Should we seek a law suit to make them strip the car all the way down and paint with PPG or Valspar paint + clear coat?

VIBRATIONS. I am so sick of the car vibrating at idle and when the A/C is on.
I have around 115k miles on her (I know I drive alot) but this is crazy. Is it the motor mounts or tranny mounts?

Paint quality, especially painted plastic parts (bumpers, grille surround, side rub strips) (PAINT FLAKING OFF), engine knock during first start in morning.(GETTING WORSE)

Leg room can be a problem for me, everything else is perfection.

Zero

I'm having the same paint peeling/flaking issues and it's the most annoying thing about the car. The clear coat on the plastic bumper inserts both front and rear is coming off. The large center insert on the rear bumper now has almost zero clear coat. The front bumper is peeling from where it meets the fender. Small pieces most don't notice, but they are killing me. I'm having all of the inserts repainted and cleared. I'll have the front bumper done too. The rest of thd paint is flawless though.

no folding back seat (gas tank in the way?), slow Nav with clunky, non-intuitive voice recognition, and that's about it.

I wouldn't say it's Genesis specific, but I am quite annoyed that "America's Best Warranty" with the 10yr/100k mile coverage is void for second/third/etc owners. I feel like they should be backing the CAR for the duration of that warranty, not the first owner.

Hyundai America replaced the engine (short block + heads) at 57,000+ miles because of excessive oil consumption.

Needing a new engine and transmission at 35,000 miles is pretty high on my list
I have a 2012 R-Spec V8. I just had a new engine installed courtesy of Hyundai America, 57,000+ miles due to excessive oil consumption. Why was your engine and transmission replaced?

Re post #73, Sliding sun visor.
Took me 2 years to figure that one out.

Adaptive Cruise Control. It completely destroys any attempt at smooth driving. Come just that inch too close as you go to pass and it kills your speed. I hate it

Wait... I'm confused. Are you complaining that you didn't know about that nice little feature, or complaining that it took so long for you to realize the car had it? I'd hardly call it a complaint as most cars anymore have them, and they're awesome.

I've owned my car for just over a year now, and I would say that the biggest annoyance is the stereo system, more specifically, iPod integration. While playing music, you can use the central command wheel to cursor over and select 'now playing' when navigating the menu. If you shut the car off, you lose this capability. The music will continue to play the last track, but you no longer have the ability to select 'now playing'.

Another annoyance is the adaptive cruise. It will literally stand on the brakes if you are cruising along and someone gets in front of you, even if they are at the same speed or accelerating. I would really like to have the ability to selectively disable the adaptive portion.

Sometimes the transmission is a bit clunky on up shifts. especially on the 2~3 or 3~4. It sometimes seems to hang up and then shift abruptly.

Otherwise, it's a great car. Fast, comfortable and surprisingly great gas mileage when you stay off of the fun pedal. I've been seeing upwards of 30mpg on the freeway lately and got over 500 miles out of a tank on a trip to South Florida and back yesterday. I was shocked because the most that I've ever gotten out of a tank was 410, yet the past few fill-ups Ive seen well over 430 miles from a tank. Not too shabby.

Dealers never have tires in stock!

That I don't have a reason to drive it everyday or any great distance to go.
