What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

Funny that you should mention that. I just finished a J.D. Power survey on the Genesis nav system and wasn't shy about calling attention to its deficiencies.

We ust be talking about different nav. systems as the one in my 2010 4.6 with premium package is the finest I have ever used and I've had Magellen, Garmin, Tomtom and several built in units to compare it to, perhaps a Rolls Royce just may have what your looking for at a slightly greater outlay....

I started bringing my Garmin because it seems futile to attempt to use nav in my '12.

Ditto here. I did the same thing..

A couple we know showed us their new (to them) 2010 Lexus SUV. The NAV screen was well recessed into the dash (but still gives a good view to passenger and driver). For the user interface, it really had a mouse like thing and not some huge rotating semi-joystick. It was pretty neat to see and I was wondering why Hyundai didn't get a better interface.

Good for you... I drive a 2010 v8 w/tech & my electronics is just a pile of junk !!! ON / OFF sometimes it works and sometimes it just does what it wants .. one thing does your ipod work as well ? and your radio does it go on and off when it wants or is it also the best radio you ever had ? can you pick any song on your ipod when it's playing ?DOES IT EVER FREZZE ? I'm sure a lot of us would love to know .....thanks

You guys want state of the art and best of the best from a car that costs thousands less than the cars that can give you exactly what you want. Hyundai is a business. You bet they know how much it costs and how much it would add to the price to give you 3D Google maps (licensing fees) and adjustable suspensions, etc. You're going to continue to find cost cutting measures. But the gestalt of the car is remarkable. They put the money where it counts.

I've been using the Audi MMI with nav for over a year now, and I really prefer the Genesis tech nav better due to the simpler, cleaner interface.

for those wishing for a touch pad type of interface, well, that's a relatively new one. when hyundai designed the genesis system for model year 2009, no one had the touch pad.

Better watch that 75 to 80 mph around corners my friend, my 4.6 is solid as a rock but I still am careful on curves living in W. PA.

yeah I hear ya - those turnpike turns out in western pa are a bit more curvy than the ones from harrisburg to philadelphia. And it is was only turnpike curves I would dare go that speed.

I've stopped using the NAV in the Genesis. Anyone who has used an Android phone with Google's navigation feature will realize just how crappy and archaic the Genesis system is. In fact, Google makes Garmin look bad as well. Being able to naturally say a street name, or a restaurant name, and have it magically appear with an up-to-date map (no yearly updates for me!) and turn-by-turn directions using satellite imagery is exactly what navigation was meant to be.

If Hyundai could learn to use a Bluetooth or WiFi connection that the Genesis could use to download and display Google navigation data, that would be pretty cool. While they're at it, maybe they can fix the terrible iPod interface as well. Why on Earth do I have to re-tell the DIS that I want to have my playlist randomly shuffle every time I start my car? Lame. Best solution would be to have an iPad (without the glossy screen) stuck in the middle of the dashboard. That would solve a lot of problems.

i have a nuvi navigation hardwired into the cigarette lighter. i just take it off the cradle to program it and then set it back down. I don't need to see the screen when i drive i just listen to the instructions. Half the time passengers think its a Hyundai feature. But BmW is going one step further and actually allowing you to order a power harness and bracket that is built into your dashboard that allows you to put your own portable nav on. The slot is covered when not in use. hyundai should consider that option.

Does anyone know where the mic is for the Bluetooth?? My wife's little voice is so light that sometimes people can't hear her when talking on the phone/Bluetooth...where is the damn Microphone so she can get closer to it????

I agree on the passenger seat, it really makes no sense as the cost would be next to nothing.
You may have a problem with your tilt steering, refer to the threads on the tilt wheel issue. Go to the dealer and check out the range on other Genesis and if you see a difference in yours let the service department know. I had to have the tilt wheel TSB performed on my 2010 4.6 and afterwards turned off the easy exit steering feature. I have seen where some other owners of the 2012 have the tilt wheel issue.

I don't know if I'd want to personally pay aftermarket, but it would be great if the dealer would be willing to sell it as a dealer installed option. Hyundai dealers ought to do what my local Porsche dealer recently announced. Pick any car on the lot and we'll see if its cost effective to transform it into the car you would order online except we'll do it in 10 days or less. New steering wheel, bi-xenon headlights, navigation, power seats, different spoiler etc they have a team in place just to do that. I guess for them it means fewer cars sitting on the lot with features no one likes.

my complains:
#1 Lag in the transmission, it thinks for about a split second then goes on my 6cyl 8AT unit. it very annoying and I only had a car for less then 24hrs.

#2 Annoying warnings and useless music when you turn on key on.

#3 Better Navigation, or just instal the original GARMIn and let it do the JOB

#4 Get rid of all the emblems, H, Genesis, just put the Wings in the back, make the car cleaner.

#5 Offer free oil change like the competitors do.

The tire pressure monitor should tell you the actual psi in each tire instead of just waring you when the pressure is low.

Talk about features you don't miss until they're gone... now I have to take a tire gauge to each tire before trips! That sucks

My current Genesis?

1. The iPod integration is clunky. Very clunky. There are work-arounds, but work-arounds shouldn't be necessary for such a device in a car like this.

2. I'd like to take advantage of the streaming bluetooth. I didn't think it was a big deal, until my GF bought a Lexus this past Monday.

you may already know this by now but you CAN stream bluetooth through your stereo. i have a 2011 genesis sedan, and use the iPhone 4. just pair the phone per the manual, then select the phone (i just use the actual selector knob not voice) and open the "air play" icon on your phone and make sure you press the aux button on the car stereo until it reads "mp3 stream" on your stereo display.not to worry, it takes 30 min to learn/ set up, then 5 seconds any time you want to use it, very easy. i use hands free phone, iPod, even pandora!

I don't have my owner's manual handy to confirm this, but I think it's in the headliner near the visor on the driver's side.
