What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

check pages 82 to 90 of Nav/dis manual. Many settings there. On page 82 it mentions that it changes to next disc.

what's the point of paddle shifters if the car up shifts anytime it wants to on it's own...

My Acura RL allowed paddles to be used in full auto mode, I don't think a Genny Coupe would let you do that.

Either way, for paddles to be effective the tranny needs to react quicker.

Not sure what that is either. While browsing some of the latest pics on that site, I noticed MANY of the Genesis owners had custom equipment (mostly Prada wheels and cooler LED/HID lighting - those seem to be a big hit over there).

As for aftermarket, many of the pictures showed dash cameras, aftermarket 3D nav systems, and even LED strips inside the cabin:

Yeah... these are Korean market cars. And the cooled passenger seat omit is probably like #1 on the list of complaints in this thread...

You know... I'm not an LED or neon kind of guy, but if the darker blue color was a little more muted, and the footwells lit as well (someone on here has done the mod, I forget whom)... that sorta reminds me of the mood lighting on the new Azera!

Changed all my footwell and puddle lights to blue-white LED bulbs. Real easy, purchased LED replacements for 194 bulbs from amazon .com I used the ones with 4 LEDS on a flat round head.

I want to complain about the ground clearence. My wife ran into a 7 inch curb and scratched $400 (repair cost) of paint off of the front bumper. Ouch!

If that happened to my car I don't think it's the clearance I'd be complaining about. Just sayin'...

Most all new luxury cars have low clearence. My 2004 Acura was low and so is my 2005 Mercedes E500 not to mention my Z3. So if you own a lux car then be careful. We leave the parking sensors on all the time and they catch the really high curbs most of the time.

the clearence for most sedans is 5-6". You want more get an suv or a minivan or a crossover.

2013-2014's and still no blind spot monitoring, sub-par navigation + voice recognition system, excessive oil consumption in GDI models, stock 18" tires are loud (Michelin), Blue-Link is slow and can use a lot of application tweaks.

What year and model are you ragging on about?

I have a 2013 R-Spec, and I do really like the car. Great motor, great brakes, really nice ride, good handling, and I think it looks very good. But there are a few major gripes that I have opened cases on with Hyundai, but so far it does not appear that they are going to issue fixes for any of them. Here's my list:

Audio issues:
1)The user interface for the music selection is pretty rough. After navigating into the directories/sub-directories of your music (stored either on USB key or transferred to internal SSD "jukebox") when you use the "up" button to go back up, it will will not let you move back up the directory tree properly, it forces you into the top level directory.
2) When hitting the "next" function to jump to the next song (either tapping the DSE wheel to the right, or using the steering wheel button, the systems clips off the first 1.5 seconds of the song. If I then click to the left to repeat the song from the beginning, the song plays with no clipping.
3) It appears that the system has no ability to recognize audio track numbers, and reorganizes tracks within a directory only alphabetically. The result is that songs do not play in the proper order. The same USB drive playing on a PC works fine, since the PC recognizes the track number. Really annoying.
4) I cannot find any way of getting play lists to transfer, nor any way of creating play lists.

Navigation
1) Really bad. I mean really, really, bad.
2) Poor user interface, very clunky. The audio input for destination is almost useless.
3) I hate having to choose which State before I can enter a destination. Since I live in Massachusetts, I am constantly driving into Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. I would prefer to just be able to enter destination verbally with as much ease as I do with my Android Google Maps app.
4) Route recalculation is very bad. The Nav system cannot figure out that I have chosen an alternate route, and all it wants to do is get me to turn around. Very, very annoying.
5) The maps are not very current. I have been driving in major cities and the maps are missing numerous secondary roads. My 2013 Genesis has a map from 2012. Hyundai directed me to MapNsoft for info on when the next update would come, they first told me a new map would be in November. No update ever came out, and now MapNsoft says there will be no more maps for this generation of navigation platform. I get better Nav functions from my Galaxy Note 2 using the Bluetooth interface for turn by turn directions.

BlueLink
1) The Android app functions inconsistently. For inexplicable reasons, sometimes a remote command to start the car will work, sometimes not. It seems to be about a 50/50 chance, even when the car is parked and locked in the same location (like my driveway).
2) The app seems to have some authentication timeout issues. If I reboot the phone, then the app will prompt for login, then vehicle selection, then choose remote function, then PIN to send the remote command. But later, after having gone through this sequence only minutes earlier, if I attempt to send a remote command the app will present the choice of functions, the PIN, then it displays a "processing remote command", then times out and then goes back to the prompt for initial login.
3) Bluelink seems inconsistent in the amount of time it takes to process a remote command. Sometimes the command will execute within 30 seconds, sometimes it can take 2 minutes.

Bluetooth
1) It takes a long time (several minutes) to switch between paired phones. I have three phones pre-paired (my Galaxy Note 2, wife's Galaxy Note 2, daughter's Razr Maxx HD). If I want to switch from mine to another, then I select Disconnect for my phone, then select Connect on one of the other phones. Then I wait, and wait, and wait, and eventually it makes the connection and can stream music from the phone.

I have demonstrated these issues to my local dealer. They had no knowledge of these issues, and directed me to Hyundai customer support. Hyundai customer support had no knowledge of whether anybody else had reported these concerns, and could only suggest contacting Lexicon, MapNsoft, or the Hyundai Bluelink support team. Lexicon informed me that they merely manufacture the audio components, and another company that is contracted to Hyundai handles the user interface design, but they didn't know who that company is. MapNsoft was useless, and the Bluelink teams best suggestion was to drive the car around for 30 minutes so that it could get a better uplink. Really.

So I am now attempting to escalate these issues with Hyundai, and am trying to arrange for an appointment with the Hyundai regional representative so I can demonstrate these issues, and hope that perhaps they can at least get more definitive answers as to whether any of these issues will be addressed.

But other than that, I like my Genesis. I just wish Hyundai would be more responsive to these issues and provide firrmware updates to correct these issues.
