  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What New Feature(s) Do You Want on Future Genesis Sedans?

* Blu-ray player

Personally with a sound system of this caliber I dont see why they did not opt for a Blu-ray player instead of DVD

In regards to Blu-Ray for video purposes: With such a small lcd screen you will not be able to appreciate 1080p quality of HD. Maybe if there was a 50 inch+ screen option in the trunk with a motorized lift (ala MTV Pimp My Ride) you might justify Blu-Ray.

As for Blu-Ray for audio purposes: I know the Lexicon stereo supports 7.1 surround sound but not sure which particular audio formats. Regular DVD-Audio disks support Dolby Digital and DTS.

Blu-Ray disks audio support a lot more: Linear PCM (LPCM), Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus (DD+), Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio.

The problem is that I don't know if any music companies are selling Audio Only Blu-Ray disks yet. When they do, it should sound pretty good but until then might not be worth it for the Blu-Ray upgrade. I guess you could buy current Blu-Ray video disks of music concerts. Not sure if it is the same quality of audio recording as a studio DVD-A version.

I agree with Musher51.. I was initially concerned about the RWD car (I live in MN), but after enough research, I am no longer concerned because:

(1) Good snow tires and ESC can make up a lot of the difference between RWD and FWD.

(2) There are downsides to having FWD in snow: Yes, they are easier to get moving initially but when you are turning in snow, it is better to have the power delivered to the wheels that are not doing the turning.

If you are still concerned about the safety and control aspect, ask yourself this - how many cop cars do you still see that are RWD in the Midwest? Answer: A lot!

Upgradeable electronics tech system to keep up with new technologies
Voice command integration for iPod á la MS-Sync.

I am the proud and HAPPY owner of the Genesis with the Tech. package, but, I would love the following:

1) Power Folding Mirrors
2) Air Conditioned Passenger Seat (Specially here in Miami)
3) Rear Bucket Seats (with at least manual recline)
4) Optional 20 inch with low profile for both the V6 and V8
5) A rear spoiler
6) The "Wing" badge on the trunk and steering wheel
7) Wing hub cabs (which by the way I found both the badge and the hub cabs at Koreanautoimports.com
8) Manual rear sunshade for rear windows
9) Puddle lights under the rearview outside mirrors

Can't think of anything else, but, I STILL LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the car and the looks from other drivers.

On the Koreanimports site I noticed they sell the OEM Korean steering wheel with the Genesis wing logo. They don't have a price of course. How in the world would you install this, don't you have to worry about air bags, etc? It would be nice just to get that middle plastic piece instead of replacing the whole thing.

Dealer would have to install.

My 2006 BMW 530I had them and how it works when I either activated or de-activated the alarm through the key fob, a White light would come on and point to the ground, this was before I even openned the door.

I mean it's minor, but, it was kind of cool.

I would also like to add to the list:

1) Automatic up and down rear windows, not just the front
2) Remote open/close windows via key fob

That's it. I don't want anyone to misunderstand, I love the car, but it would be nice to offer some of items in my list - not that I wouldn't lease another Genesis if it did not offer these items in two years - when my lease would be up.

You know, you might try holding down the unlock button on the FOB for 2-3 seconds - on my old XG it used to lower the drivers side window! undocumented in the manual, of course!

Hmmm. Someone give this a try...

Sorry, you can't open the windows & moonroof via the proximity key. I thought of that shortly after I got the car (my 530i worked that way), but this isn't something that occurred to the gang at Hyundai (so far, anyway).

The electronic key fob that allows push button on/off and security features should be no bigger than a credit card so it can fit in your wallet and never be accessed unless you have a special need for accessories. A larger size fob should also come with the car for the valets.

As I mentioned in a previous post, dual MPG calculators would be nice. With two, you can leave one untouched to track overall mileage over the life of the car, leaving the second one to measure specific trips.

To heck with dual MPG calculators...who at HMC thought it was a good idea to program the one MPG gauge to reset itself with every gas refill? It's absurd to have any measuring device reset itself unless the operator initiates it! Hopefully this poor design choice can be remedied with a software upgrade at some point.

Another improvement that could be made -- to CD/DVD functionality, specifically -- is to allow for fast-forward/reverse WITHIN a track, not just movement between tracks.

Musher51,

You can fast forward within a track. While the track is playing, simply push the right arrow key on your steering wheel (below the volume up/down) and hold it for a few seconds..

Really? I've fiddled with that before and found that I simply moved up or down one whole track. But hey...I'll happily try it again. Maybe it's a finesse thing. Thanks, Viking...one less thing for the improvement list!

Something I would like to see.. The ability to set the volume of the stereo so that when a call is finished, it does not automatically go back to the volume it was set at beforehand. In the event that you increase the volume to HIGH gradually over time - allowing your ears to adjust to the volume - this is not the case when returning from a phone call. It's kinda shocking to have that volume go back to where it was before the call came in. More often than not, it'll be too loud after a low volume phone call.
