  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What New Feature(s) Do You Want on Future Genesis Sedans?

Correction

Musher51,

My mistake... I tried the FF feature with a CD on the way home and you are correct - it did not work. I have used it to FF a song on my USB (just by holding down the button) so I just assumed that the same functionality existed for playing a CD.

I guess this one goes back on the list!

No sweat, Viking. I tried it a number of times this afternoon, too, but to no avail. Interestingly, the owner's manual says that pushing the "up" or "down" arrows on the steering wheel for >0.8 seconds should enable FF/REW, but it doesn't. So technically, this isn't just a "wish list" thing, but rather a published feature that doesn't work as intended.

One more thing to jot down for an eventual trip to the dealer, I guess.

Just drop the trunk emblem altogether or ship it with emblem seperate so the Genesis wings can be afixed. No one wnats to be driving a luxury car with Hyundai all over it. This is why Toyota, Nissan, and Honda badged their luxury lines with out their names on them anywhere.

Does anyone see the need for a power port for rear seat occupants? (perhaps at the bottom rear of the center console).

Not done a road trip with kids yet, but they always feel the need to plug into something!

Remember the discussion in late August about how the "Fast Forward" and "Rewind" functions on the left steering wheel control don't work as indicated in the owner's manual (see above)? Since then, I've simply concluded that I'll have to live without that feature as I listen to CDs in the car (admittedly it's not a big deal, as it's not a feature I utilize frequently). Earlier today, I happened to have the CD/DVD screen up, and I noticed that this function is, in fact, available through the DIS control, although it's certainly not too convenient (and I don't know if there's an equivalent option for folks driving non-DIS cars...with or without the Prem Pkg).

At any rate, if you highlight the specific track that's playing and then push the DIS knob to the right, you bring up a short pop-up menu that includes FF & REW. And it works! Since I've usually got the nav map up on the screen, I've never noticed this option before, but I thought I'd point it out in case others are lamenting the fact that the steering wheel control doesn't work as advertised (a fact I've logged with the Genesis reps at HMA, by the way).

1. Direct fuel injection, as recommended by others.
2. 8 speed automatic. At least, the latest ZF JHP28 six speed automatic versus current HP26 automatic. Major ZF update giving better fuel economy.
3. Cylinder deactivation.
4. Electric water pump--speeds warm-up.
5. Electronic controlled thermostat--more even engine temperature control.
6. Variable valve lift (in addition to present variable valve timing). Aids fuel economy and power.
7. 5.0 liter V8. More torque, need not be much more fuel consumption in normal driving.
8. Better sound insulation in door for quieter closing (checked sound on V6 only).
9. User-adjustable transmission up-shift (vary the normal up-shift RPM).
10. Expanded buyer-selected list of options and deletes.
11. And, yes, full back seat fold-down. Very much used on present car.

ABSOLUTELY GOTTA HAVE!

These will most certainly happen with the next iteration.

I love my V8 Tech (Champaign with tan interior and black inserts)...

I would love to have Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension with at least three settings: Sport (BMW M5 :D), Normal (Current setting :)) and a Soft Mode (Lexus LS 460 :o).

Ideally it would be a semi-active suspension system that continuously adjusts damping levels according to road conditions; vehicle dynamics, such as speed, turning and cornering and responds to my driving inputs (i.e. when I floor it the front would lower instantly etc).

Boy I like that idea!!!!
My additions (mainly about the DIS)--
1. DIS to add weather information including forecast for your current or selected location.
2. Access to a protected portion of the hard drive to store pics, etc.
3. Allow the DIS to have an email address. This allows emailing a GoogleMaps route, restaurant list, etc. to the car.
4. Light the center console storage area when lid is up (I'm doing a DIY 'fix' for this and will share it when done)
5. Allow changing the Bluetooth Phone Ring sound and level (or did I miss that one in the manual??)

The suggested sport variant should offer AWD. Sportier interior too (i.e steering wheel, seats and carbon fiber inlays

A standard feature on my 2005 Accord that I'll really miss when I trade it for the Genesis: A key/remote that opens all the windows as I'm walking toward the car on a blazing hot day.

WOW I love that disappearing door design, very futuristic!!

With all the great high tech electrical gadgets on this car I would love to see a "power off" feature to be able to shut off all non critical systems all at once, ie display, esc, power options, etc. This would come in handy if the battery happens to get drained.

Also I do miss a fold down rear seat, a fold down on at least one side would be great!
