  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What surprises have you "found" in your car...

Just tried this in the parking lot, and it doesnt work on my car. 2011 3.8. Is this an option on some kind of package?

Only available if you have the Tech package.......If you have this package then ensure your mirror switch is either switched to left or right....

Going from Running Engine to Accessory with Push to Start

I recently purchased a 2012 Genesis sedan with key fob/push to start button. I was frustrated that I was not able to go directly from the engine running to accessory mode. The owner's manual explains how to go to accessory without starting the vehicle but not in reverse. I found that with the engine running, pushing the engine start button twice quickly stops the engine and leaves the accessories "on". Maybe this was obvious but it took me a while to figure out. Maybe it will help someone else.

Re: Going from Running Engine to Accessory with Push to Start

Any time I'd tried that, it still reset the accessories and displayed the start splash screen. How fast were you pushing the button?

Re: Going from Running Engine to Accessory with Push to Start

IIRC, I think you have to take your foot off the brake for the second push of the button.

If you want to stop the engine but leave the stereo playing or whatever, what works on my 2009 sedan is to put the transmission into Neutral, not Park, before shutting off the engine. I also get the reminder to "shift into park" on the dash display between the tach and speedometer. Tapping START again, without the brake pedal being pressed, then switches the car to "ON" mode without actually starting the engine so you can shift into Park, open/close windows & the sunroof, etc.

Oops! My bad - no brake required - just push the button twice.

Re: Going from Running Engine to Accessory with Push to Start

I need to eat a little crow. I did push the button twice quickly and it stopped the steering wheel in the process of retracting (I had set the seat not to retract). It is better than pushing the start button at an interval but it is not the answer to the problem. Sorry about that!

Ten months on and I am still discovering new (undocumented) features with My R-Spec! :)

Tonight I had the (boot, sorry I meant the) trunk open, put the car in reverse to straiten it out, lo and behold, the Parking Break came on all by it self, the car would not move and the EBS would not disengage until I closed the trunk, go figure!

It looks like we have another built in nanny feature, where the car might as well have said "don't be an idiot, you can not reverse, if you can not see where you are going"!!!

I still love this car and the 4.6... But as far as the R-Spec, I can't wait for the new NAVDY HUD to arrive, the shifter to be installed and will shortly add Siri Eye Free button, not to mention the dream of adding gobs more power sometime in the not so distant future, if all my prayers are answered (don't ask about that last one, as my lips are sealed :D)......

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Here is one I did see in the forum's.
Have a 2013 3.8 with all options. When navigating to a destination and using active cruise control, if my speed is set to high to safely go around a curve, the car automatically (and gently) slows down going into the curve. When the road straitens out, the speed resumes. It will do this with no other other cars around.
Great safety feature!

I love the idea of a HUD but damn that Navdy unit is ginormous.

I'm in once they figure a way to reduce the footprint.
And what shifter are you referring to?

There is no way I'd put something that ugly on my dash. Maybe if it was the size of a deck of cards.

A few months ago I discovered that the SCC will "almost" bring you to a complete stop, at a stoplight, by itself. It brought the car down to about 1 mph, and then kept rolling at that 1 mph.....I see that the 2015 model will do a complete stop.
.

If you have the Tech Package or the R-Spec, you can cancel the route guidance by double tapping the DIS knob while on the map screen.

You can point the backup camera almost straight down. When you first put it in reverse and the backup camera comes on, a little icon appears. Push that icon and the camera will point almost straight down. If you wait more than about 5-10 seconds that icon disappears. This is on a 2015 5.0. Not sure if it does the same thing on earlier model years.

Please advise the 'how to' on both the door locks at a certain speed and the seat and wheel retraction on exit. Much appreciated.

Mine came with Michelin's, can't beat'em.

Or, press the volume arrow down till it reaches 0 and the sound goes off (of course) but nothing else changes until you turn the volume back up, with either the arrow button or the vol knob.

How do I get to the 'car setup area'? Thank you.

Voicing in the word "display" toggles the navi display (on to off, off to on).

We all know that with the Tech package or R-Spec, when driving with the adaptable cruise control on, there's the little image of "your car" and the car in front of you.

What I just noticed, was that if the car in front of you slows down and your cruise control automatically applies your brakes, the "brake lights" on the image of your car light up.
