  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What surprises have you "found" in your car...

Cleaning the interior, I found there is a removable rubber insert in the cup holder. Just pull it out from the center.

That is probably the best thing I have heard on here. I need to try that now. Thanks.

This feature should be available when the car is in P Park. Not N Neutral.

Should work either way, (P or N) once the car has been turned off. But doesn't the power end once you open a door? It is a retained power feature. Similar to the interior lights staying on once you have exited the vehicle. A timed delay. Which is what I would've liked to see Hyundai do with the headlights.

Still can't complain. Lots of car for 40K!

My car, a 2010 V6 with Tech, does have a timed delay with the headlights. They stay on for a while after you walk away (for 30 seconds perhaps).

Thr P-N difference: while on P you can have the car in "accessory mode" (by pressing the start button without pressing the brake) and play music. You can also have the car completely tuned off (no lights in the instrument cluster) and on N and also play the music.

That feature is certainly missed by me, and others I imagine, on the '09's!

My CDs must be changed manually in my car. Since I like to hear audiobooks while commuting, it isn't convenient, but not the worst thing. Loading cds onto Ipod didn't work because after turning off the motor, the Ipod starts playing somewhere else and I lose my place. FF and RR is cumbersome. If anyone knows how to get the CD's to change automatically, I'd love to hear about it.

Strange, as my 2006 Azera changes the cds.

In this case you will never be able to shut the car off completely.

In my 2001 Olds Aurora you could turn the car off and still have all power for up to 10 minutes including radio. If you were to open up the door the power would cut, or if you went over 10 minutes it would do the same.

Not sure why putting it in N is any better than P, other than you'll have to keep your foot on the brake with the way it is set up now.

Afaik, the stereo without Nav will move to the next CD when you finish one, the stereo with GPS will not. My 09 without Nav switches automatically.

I think its more of a saftey issue than a feature - you might think the car is in park as its shut off, so the radio stays on to keep your attention in the car.

Genesis without the Tech package has a 6 CD changer and it will change CDs automatically. The Tech package include a 6 DVD changer, not a CD changer.

Of course, but why wouldn't it automatically go to the next disk? Its poor design imo.

I agree. Whether it is CD's or DVD's the technology is there for auto advance. This is the first car I have seen recently with a changer that doesn't advance automatically. Again, it wasn't a deal breaker. Heck, didn't even know it until I tried it. But it certainly is an omitted function on our "high end" units!

Just apply the parking brake.

Get real and use the modern technology - put in a disk with mp files or USB stick and forget about CD changer!

The Tech version is a DVD changer, and most DVD's require user selection based on infromation displayed onscreen. Since the screen is disabled except when the car is in Park, it doesn't make a lot of sense for the system to automatically change to the next disk and leave the system in limbo waiting for the driver to make a selection that he/she can't see.

I do know that if you select a different DVD when you're driving and then hit the "Back" key you will get a menu that will allow you to get most DVD's to play but you may or may not get the sound track version that you want. For example, on a DVD that has a 2 channel track, a Dolby 5.1 track and a DTS track, you don't know which track you are selecting unless you pull over and put the car into Park. It also can take a bit of effort to decipher the Tracks from the Chapters and get the little sucker to play.

I'm guessing that it is all related to safety protocols that are related to screen based information. It would be nice if the system had the ability to sense CD's vs DVD's and automatically switch between the CD's that are in the changer while ignoring the DVD's. I don't know how difficult it would be to make it work that way but it would help if they could do it. The driver could always manually select a DVD and go through the gymnastics of getting it to play the way you hope to or pull over and put the car in park while you select the disc and audio track you want.

I know it seems crazy to have to go through all this just to listen to a single disc, but I am one of those that actually believes it makes sense to inhibit the video on DVD's when the car is in motion. I shudder to think how big the court settlement would be when someone run's over a little kid while a DVD is playing on a car that has been modified to allow the video to be displayed while in motion. I can't even begin to imagine a judge or jury believing that the mod was only done so that the passenger could watch the disc. In fact, I'm guessing that anyone caught in this scenario would have their sentence doubled just for having the nerve to try to convince the jury that they were paying full attention to the task of driving even though the latest blockbuster movie (or any other video) was playing on the screen for the sake of their "passenger's" entertainment. Can't you just hear it... "Honestly your Honor, I can't explain why the skid marks start 20 feet past the blood stains, but it certainly wasn't because I was distracted by the video that was playing on my DVD screeen."

I agree. I've been using a 16G flash drive. No more CD's!!:)

Get real? I wasn't complaining. Just replying to the post. I could care less whether it advances automatically or not. I would only have an issue if it didn't advance at all! Would really like to see a huge hard drive to store music. Oh well.

I like the USB feature in the console, but, when I start the car it defaults to the player connected to the USB port even if it was not the last function used. Any help?
