  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

the easiest/cheapest way to go is wheels and tires, it will not void warranty :readclose:

also... i bet the boost CAN be upped without reflashing the ecu.. thats what we did with the neon...

Hopefully, the ECU isn't stingy like Chrysler's. If it's closer to the Mitsu/Subaru ECU a quick reflash will add fuel, advance timing, increase boost.

All of which will be invisible to the dealer.

well i'm sure we can ask someone from the Mitsu platform how easy it is to mod the ecu..

What's available for tuning at this point? I know Cobb Tuning is working on an Accessport for them, but I haven't heard of much else.

Tony
OMFG, are you serious !?!?

if that's the case the Genesis just won me over. i had the Cobb AP on my STi and had it protuned by a local shop.

unbelievable tuning device. i hope Cobb jumps on this car !!!!!

i pray for open source tuning capabilities like the STi/EVO.

You're welcome.
Boost tuning can be done but by reflash .. you need to trick out the ECU or actuator or aftermarket wastegate itself

So in other words you need to buy a boost controller... just like every other turbo charged car on the market ;)

A good Electronic controller will run you about $300-$600, a manual controller is about $50, and you can run whatever boost you want at that point..

As for my first mods:

Convert to E85 and crank the boost up as high as the factory turbo will push it should be good for at least 18-20psi. Might have to make a simple boost cut defender.. not sure yet. Hopefully there is some software out by then that will allow me to tune the ECU directly.

I'm sure Aaron@Realtune will have one of these running 11's within months.

11's is nothing to be proud of... 9's or better or you will just get laughed at :D

hehehehe...

I'd probably get exhaust done then I would turn up the boost if it was possible without a reflash (or with a reflash that the dealer can't see)

Depending on aftermarket availability, how I feel the stock units perform, and how reliable the motor is with a reflash:

1. Brake pads/rotors
2. Turboback exhaust
3. Intake
4. Any and all piping from the intake all the way to the intake manifold.
4. Slightly larger intercooler with a good core.
5. Coilovers
6. Reflash
7. Go from there :D

Once my oem tires are done, Ill get wider tires and wheels.

Doesn't the Coupe have Bembo brakes?

Yeah, it will depend on the OEM pad compound. If they bite and are pretty good against fade, ill keep them.
If they bite, but start fading, Ill change them out and rotors while I am at it.

Why is everyone looking to reflash the ECU to raise the boost? Why not just install a boost controller?

Well from what I've hard, you won't be able to to just connect up a boost controller and turn up the boost. The boost is set by the cars computer, and you would have to retune the PCM in order to raise the boost.

This is just what I've heard. The car isn't out yet so we can't say for sure you have to do this, we'll just have to wait until people have figured it out.

There will be a dealer installed lip-spoiler that will be provided by HMA for the Coupe.

the boost is PCM controlled.

if you raise up the boost in an SRT you can get away with it with no tuning whatsoever.

when you raise up the boost in an STi/EVO you most definately have to tune.
