  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why does the Hyundai Genesis have only one cooled seat?

As for the logos, now that Hyundai joined the fray, that makes it 5 companies using the similar looking winged logo. Chrysler is one, Aston Martin is another, Bentley is another, and Mini was another one, now come Hyundai. I don't know what's so special about the logo with wings on it. I don't like it, but it seems that car makers loves 'em.

As for the cooled seats. I can care less. I do love the heated seats on my Grand Prix, but I see no use for the cooled seats, for the A/C, and Sunroof will do it for me.

I suppose it's a nice looking logo.. As for the cooled seats, the people down south really appreciate them.

The latest I'm hearing is that there is indeed only a cooled driver seat. It looks to me that we're not going to know anything for sure until the car is in showrooms...

Exactly how do "cooled" seats work? do they run a vent into the seat?
I imagine heated seats are simply a heat grid within the seat.

Yes, the heated seats have a heated coil inside. They work VERY well.. Cooled seats normally have perforated leather - which has either cooled or non-cooled air blown through.. Early versions didn't work very well. However, the seats on the Lexus LS work VERY well...

I read somewhere that the US model may not get the passenger cooled seat because that is one of the things Hyundai cut out of the US model to reduce the cost. By that I mean that the cooled passenger seat was probably an option they decided not to include to reduce the cost of teh US model from the whopping $53,000 that the Koreans are paying. I think the rear entertainment option was also cut. But look at it this way, if the Korean model has it, then there is bound to be a way that it could be added on the US side after the purchase of the car. I know noone wants to deal with that but if you really want it, u'll find a way to get it. ;)

Good point.. So the wiring will likely be there. If you want to buy a cooled seat and install it yourself, which is no big deal, you can. Let's see if that's the case.. That would be better than not being able to have it at all..

If it IS possible, we'll have detailed instructions on ordering and installing posted...

I like those picks of the car at that website. I have never owned a luxury car, and sure thinking about making the Genesis my first one. Maybe not this year, but in the next year or two.

At the bottom of that website there is a small pic (bottom row, second from left) of a car that looks like a SUV or CUV that is not in the US market. Does anyone know what it is?

Um, which site are you talking about? I am not sure which one, there are few different links posted by people in this thread.

That's odd. It didn't do that for me. Maybe if you try the original link...I think it's on page 3 of this thread.

Here's the link. Click here.

WAIT! Here's a link directly to the vehicle he's talking about. HOLY NUTS! THAT'S NICE!! Click here!

It's the new Terracan! I'm going to start a new discussion about it in the Other Hyundai Vehicles area...

Let's keep this discussion about the single cooled seat. :)

Okay. Back to the cooled seat ordeal.. Let's somehow try and figure out how much more it could cost to make a seat cooled.. Obviously, there's only one cooled seat in the Hyundai Genesis - the driver's seat. I really NEED to KNOW why Hyundai did this..

Let's say it would have costed an extra $100.00 per vehicle to have the passenger seat cooled as well.. Couldn't Hyundai have raised the price $100.00? Or made it at least an option where if you wanted two front cooled seats - you could pay that extra hundred bucks?

Or does it costs THOUSANDS of dollars for a cooled seat? Please.. Somebody explain this to me.. I just don't understand...

It appears the Korean version of the Genesis gets Dual Heated/Cooled Seats!

It also appears they get a ton of additional options that are incredible! Check out that rear entertainment/media center, rear heated and power seats. Look at all those buttons! I don't know if I really need all that stuff but I know I want it!

This site loads very slow but there are some great photos!

Cars like Genesis in Korea are chauffeur driven. Therefore the most luxurious and optioned area is the rear seat behind the front passenger seat. It was the same way with XG and Grandeur. None of those fancy Korea options will ever make it to the US model.

I'm still shocked that there's only one cooled seat. I've never seen that before.. I don't think this is one of the "firsts" that Hyundai wants to be noted for...
