  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Would you buy the G2 again now that you've owned/driven the car for a period of time? If no or not sure, please state your reasons why.

Just curious what percentage on this site are satisfied with their purchase.

For full disclosure, I voted yes. I've had my car (2015 3.8 AWD) for about 3 weeks.

I like the car - but, next time, I'l wait for the 2nd model year of a new design - a few 1st year gremlins in my 2015. The Hyundai dealer/service experience is still a big negative to me as well.

I've made one trip to the dealer (key fob needed to be reprogrammed, no charge) and the service was great. Time will tell as issues pop up (knock on wood) or the car needs serviced.

I have leased/purchased a number of Genesis' and my '15 excites me every time I drive it. However, not sure about the future and How the Genesis branding might alter my choices moving forward.

Of course you'd buy it again... you just bought it! :P

I think the only real negative on this car is the voice interaction or maybe I should say lack of. Otherwise I would definitely buy again. The 2015 is a total redesign from the ground up and I cannot believe how great the car has been. No issues at all really except for the tail light sealing thingy. Would definitely put on my list of buy again.

A lot can happen in 3 weeks - buyers remorse, the wheels fall off, etc.

I waited a long year to buy mine and couldn't be more happy with the decision. I've put on about 1,500 miles so I've had a chance to get a good feel for everything.

I agree - navigation can really be painful when using the voice recognition. I have the ultimate so I tend to use the dial along with sending addresses to my car using the free Bluelink trial.

I selected "Not Sure".

I'm just rolling up on 10,000 miles over ~8 months of use. So far it's been a good car and for the most part I've been happy with it. But, I'm still not convinced about the long term reliability of the car. Only time will tell.

I voted no. While a nice car I'm annoyed by the wheel issue (flat spots every-time I drive even with Michelin tires), the A/C stink that never goes away (and can't be fixed) and the largeness of the car. At 6'3" I struggle with the enormous A pillar blind spots. I'm more than likely going back to a Volvo when my lease is up. But I am very impressed with Hyundai products and people. May go back sometime.

I would buy it again although would probably go with a lightly used example. Depreciation might be enormous esp. W new brand, unless they drop the V8.

Did they ever find a root cause for the stinky AC? So far no malodors in mine.

Fair point - If it turns out this isn't a reliable vehicle long-term, it could set back the entire brand. Sure, one can get into a Genesis at $10k-20k less than a similarly equipped Audi, Lexus, MB, or BMW, but if there are severe long-term reliability issues, then is the savings really worth it? Hyundai has had to overcome reliability issues in the past to get to where they are now, so I remain optimistic that the G2 will hold up over time. And considering the 2015/16 model year Genesis' are the new platforms for the Genesis brand going forward, these vehicles need to hold their own.

That's partly why I held out. I ended up getting a 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate CPO with 13K miles for about $38k + TTL (zero issues with car after 1500 miles, although winter finally came so we'll see how it performs under harsh conditions). I thought I did well based on other CPO prices but wish I was able to snag one of those $12K Hyundai discounts on a new car they were offering at year end. My alternative was a new 2015 3.8 AWD Tech for 43K + TTL.

I would buy again. It's a great car. Ref reliability, I've had an Elantra for 7 years, a real family work horse, a 2002 Sonata for 4 years and a 2006 Sonata for 9 years. They always started and always got me from A to B. In fact, perfect reliability. I get into the G2 and always notice something new, or really appreciate something I already knew about. Today I was admiring that amazing sun roof. And all at a very competitive price.

Yes. I love it as much as the G1 I bought in 9/08. Great car for the $$

One other thing I forgot to mention is that the dealer, and especially the dealer maintenance/service experience will have a really heavy influence on whether or not I'd buy one again.

I came really close to getting a fully loaded Lexus ES350 instead, and at a lower price than the Genesis, but opted for the Genesis because of the safety features and overall feel of the car while driving.

Following the Lexus forums, I see that the ES350 has some issues, too, but the after-sale dealer experiences could do a lot to make up for them.

My one trip to the dealership for a relatively minor issue (reprogram spare key fob, no charge) went smooth and they took care of me right away even through they were busy. I would hope that the G2 owners will get the same treatment as the G80 owners, whatever that may be, going forward. Seeing that they will use the Hyundai dealerships to sell and service the new Genesis branded cars, one would hope that there would be a level of preferential treatment in service (schedule service, pull up the car or walk through the door and you are taken care of promptly). Fortunately for me, there are 4 different Hyundai dealerships within a 20 minute drive, so I have options.

Last I heard, Hyundai Motor America said that not all dealers will sell the new Genesis branded vehicles. Only about half of the dealers now sell the Equus, so it might something similar to that, but that is just a guess.
