  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased my car last November and was expecting it to cut out after three months as it did with my Mum's Santa Fe, however it kept going and in reading on the net it seemed like this wasn't out of the norm in some cases so I let it be.

I would check my mail for statements or other mail etc. but nothing ever came. My first service was a month ago and nothing then either. Then last night at 10 it went away and now I really miss it lol.

Anyone else lose their connection last night?

Also how much is the usual fee for a lifetime membership nowadays, I've seen quotes for $650

Mine cut off yesterday but I bought my car a week ago. WTF lol.

I wondered how long this was going to last! I got mine in October last year, and it was working fine yesterday, but today: just the radio ID. Oh well, time to pay up...

I bought mine in February and mine cut out Friday, late afternoon. I went on-line and added the car to my existing account (I have 2 Acuras, both w/XM). I picked the middle level of the 3 levels of service. It was back on w/in 5 minutes, but I don't think I have the traffic anymore. Do I need to upgrade to the highest level for that?

Mine went dead yesterday. Bought the Genny in late February.

Mine went dead right at the end of the trial period. I renewed today for $77 for one year, mostly because of the talk stations. I took the advice I read here and told them to bill me. They said that there was a $2 charge for that, which I accepted - some people have had problems canceling auto-renewal on their credit card.

If my trial had ended early, I would have renewed only if XM added the missing trial time to my one year subscription.

Seems XM did a massive dump. Tried mine for the 1st time in a couple of weeks and it's gone. I was hoping the Equus got a year as the original Genny did, but no.
The only reason to renew was the Nav traffic, which I learned to enjoy on a 2500 mile trip to Florida and back. But I certainly don't need it, and Pandora, iTunes, FM, DVD-A's fill the void quite nicely.
Adios XM, hardly knew ye.

Thanks for the reminder about DVD-A - I just ordered a couple from Amazon (The Beatles' Love and Steely Dan's Gaucho).

mine's too. I think someone finally remember to flip the switch. I called them back and gave them all the info, and they gave me 6 more months for free. We will wait and see how long this last.

So....

Finally got my XM + NavTraffic working again. Lots of confusion all around at XM, not helped by the fact that I have an old Sirius lifetime account on the same phone number.

It appears the radio was in "demo" mode. This may explain why it's been working fine since I got my car in October '10. So was this a dealer error perhaps?

How do you get the $77 rate? I've called twice and they quote $142 plus plus. Thanks

You must say you will not pay the higher amount and will cancel. They MUST hear this.
I have several accounts and my son got a new vehicle and they automatically renewed after the initial great trial rate for three months. When they automatically renewed at $15 a month- I told them "the above" and the operator made me repeat the fact that I would cancel the subscription if I didn't get the $77 rate.

25 1/2 months and still going strong as of noon today. I got on the net with both my radio ID and my car ID and they apparently do not know I exist. Probably in demo mode.

In certain cases you may have to cancel your subscription in order to get the $77 package. I have been paying this price on my Aacura for 4 years and they finally said no more. I canceled it and within one week they called stating they had a special 15 month program for $77. I bought it and two months later bought the genesis. They said they could not transfer it so I cancelled and they refunded $68. My free period has not ended yet.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Concerning the auto renewal provision of the Sirius/xm contract. It will auto renew at the higher rate automatically unless you remember to cancel prior to the expiration date.
What I have done the past two years is sign up for the $77 package and then go on line immediately and cancel the contract at the expiration date. That way I don't have to remember some date in the future.
Dealing with the xm billing department is like a never ending nightmare!!!!

An additional note is do not give them your credit card number. Tell them to send you a bill. If not they will auto bill your credit card for the higher rate when your special price agreement ends.

Just received a renewal notice from XM...$159 for a year, this after paying $80 for the past year!
