Yet another tire question

Just drove them home. They felt solid, all the way up to 95mph (where I dropped off in fear of passing a trooper).

As for the Contis, I was sure the difference was like $280. But I've spent so many hours on tire websites over the last week that I could very well be crossing them with something else (and I'm sure I am, since you obviously just checked TireRack).

Maybe I'll see you at Morrie's when I'm in for my next oil change. Don't know how long you have worked there, my my car is the Black R-Spec that was Jessie Bishop's when the R-Spec first came out. He put 2,000 miles and then I bought it.

I've noticed your nice black Genny when I've been in the shop. I drive for other Morrie's stores too so I'm in and out of Hyundai. It's a great on-call retirement gig. Perhaps you know that Jesse is now at Lupient Kia in Brooklyn Park.

First snow experience. Got these on just in time. Not great, but I don't imagine much would handle like a Grand Cherokee on this car. Four inches of unplowed snow was just always going to trigger the esc I guess

Scottao - how are you liking the purecontacts now that you have had them for almost three months?

I'm still waiting for TireRack's snow testing on AS3s. They said they were supposed to have it "soon" last October.

I have A/S 3s on mine and I love them after 1,000 miles.

Good traction and quiet. Pretty good in the snow.

late to this dance, but just ordered a set of Conti Eco-Plus (a la snork - thx for the confirmation/advice) to replace EOL OEM Dunlops that were trashed over the weekend by a compliments-of-Toledo pothole-zilla. TireRack has 'em on sale for 159 per - well within my wheelhouse.

hope the rim isn't bent ...

We have the '09 Genesis with original tires, have had them rotated religiously and on schedule, have a mere 29,000 miles and they need replaced. All city driving. We are going with the Bridgestone Serenity Plus based on reviews. For those opting for the next lower cost option, why not shop around and get the best price possible for BSP tires?

A lot of tire selection should be based on driving type and style. The Bridgestone Serenity Plus is a "touring" tire. So, if you and your car live on the highway it's a great tire.

If most of your driving, like most of us, is around town with a mix of highway driving, then I'd stay away from the Bridgestone Serenity. I love the Perelli P-Nero Zero tires. They came on my used 2010 Genny, ride just fine, low noise, and handle terrifically.

Unless something else comes out to change my mind, I'll be going back with my Pirelli tires.

I liked my Pirellis too but they wore out in 10k miles -- unacceptable.

I had Sumitomos on my last TT Z. I loved them, super sticky, decent tire life and comfortable ride. Those were HTR-Z III.

I will look into Sumitomos for my 09 if the price is right and are comparable to the A/S 3s I have now.

P-Nero Zero?? I thought they were P-Zero Neros...

I had Sumitomos on my last TT Z. I loved them, super sticky, decent tire life and comfortable ride. Those were HTR-Z III.

I will look into Sumitomos for my 09 if the price is right and are comparable to the A/S 3s I have now.

P-Nero Zero?? I thought they were P-Zero Neros...

Had the HTR-Z III's on my OEM 18" wheels before my R Spec wheels. They are good tires, but really don't offer what a more expensive tire can. I am now a believer that spend more and get more with tires. Currently run Conti DW, which are MUCH better the the HTR's. My friend has the HTR's on his AMG55. The HTR is all day better then an all season tire, but that's about it. The DW is much quieter and offers a better ride, but is noticablly stickier then the HTR. Also to mention the DW are much harder to get hydroplaining too. If I was in the market to buy new tires soon, I would also consider the Pilot Super Sports also.

Bought my set for around $700 maybe a little more like $750 on my OEM 18 inch wheels. Pretty good for those tires. My DW's were $1,000, but were also a 19" vs. the 18" and I also went with the 245 width instead of the 235 width.

Scottao - how are you liking the purecontacts now that you have had them for almost three months?

I went with the Kumhos, but they've held up just great. Still quiet, and no issues at all. I don't have any regrets so far!

I recently went with General Gmax. They are generals new UHP all season tire. They have nearly the same makeup and compound as the continental dws and use some of the same tech if you look on either brands website being that continental owns general. Cant beat the wear and mileage either for the price.

I honestly don't believe anyone here is capable of outdriving a set of HTR ZIIIs in a Genesis sedan. Great tires for the price, though a bit heavy. You don't need extreme performance summer tires on a car like this since they would never be able to take advantage of them.
