  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tell us about your "double-take" moments

Had an interesting one this weekend. I had just dropped my daughter off at her girlfriends and was headed home. Had to go thru a traffic circle. AS I was in teh circle and had teh right of way, a older red Trans Am cut me off pulling into the circle, they had a yield sign.

We went thru and then we both made a right turn on the main street. He was going really slow, so I gasssed it and pulled around him. I got to the next light and was waiting to turn left. They eventually made it to the light and was on my left, a car back. Double left turn lanes.

I could see an older couple in the car and they were both staring at the car and trying to figure out what it was. They both had puzzeled looks on their faces. I have the Genny wing on the back but all of the other stock badging. After the turn, I made a right on the next road so they didn't have a chance to pull up along side of me.

I have a lot of double take moments but these two were the most memorable:

When I first got my 2012 genesis back in August of 2011 I was parked at a gas station and getting gas and then a guy randomly came up to me and started making a video of my car and was so amazed at it.

Another was when I was in the mcdonalds drive thru and this pimped out chrysler 300 drove by, and then drove around the whole building and went next to me while I was ordering in drive thru line and said wow that is a really nice car! and then he said "could I take your picture??" I guess they thought I was a celebrity? lol

Took the family on a trip to Montreal a few days after getting my Genesis. As you know, with the wings, its almost impossible to tell what the make of the car is. anyway, I was sitting in traffic in montreal and noticed the guy behind me taking pictures of the Genesis. The passenger also had is face pressed up against the windshield trying to figure out what kind of car it was. Had to laugh!!

 I'm surprise anyone would do a double-take on the Genesis anymore; they're so common place nowadays. Now, I might do a double-take if I see one with a lazy H - those are rare.

I have only seen about 20 Genesis sedans since they were released for sale in 2008. Only have seen 3 with the KDM wings.................

I am seeing them more regularly. Tuesday, a Platinum one on Crosstown and last night, another Platinum one on 42 in Burnsville. Both were V6s driven by stately looking middle-aged couples and wearing their H emblems.

It's been almost a year since I bought mine. I've seen about a total of 10 on teh road in that time. And I've traveled all up and down Cali., from North Frisco bay to Escondido.

Yeah they are a lot more common now. I even thought my particular model, a 5.0 non-RSpec, would be rare. Wouldn't you know it; I've seen two of these already. I pulled into the dealership the other day to get my "steam" issue fixed and pulled right behind a black 5.0 non-RSpec identical to mine :D.

Ah well, it's still a lot less common than a Lexus.

I seen about 70 now lol they are so common but its crazy people still double look it. I guess they are that good looking!

The car is is more common now. Last week while out to eat here in Athens GA there where three in the Applebee's parking lot. My white one, a silver, and a 3.8 light blue. All had the wings not the H.

I've had my car for 7 months now. I've only seen ONE other Genesis in all that time... and it was not a 2012. I have yet to see another 2012, though my cousin swears he was driving behind my car's twin the other day.

I don't buy it.

I work in the kind of office that when anyone buys a car everyone comes outside to take a look. my Boss thought that I have bought a Mercedes and a coworker thought that it was a Bentley. I guess taking every Hyundai badge off the car including the steering wheel did not make it easy. the one thing in common from everyone is a belief that it was an upgrade from my Lexus. I have to admit that I am getting a little tired of people saying, " really that's a Hyundai".

You know... I thought those kind of comments would have bothered me too. But they don't! I just shake my head and smile, 'cause I know what a great car I drive.

I've had a few "is that a 200?" comments in the last couple of weeks. Not amused. Really? A 200? The Genesis is about twice the size of that car, but whatever I guess. Although my last comment was if my car was a Bentley. I was pulling into a golf course parking lot for a wedding and 4 dudes on 2 carts came haulin' ass up to me to ask about the car.

I would agree, but I'm still waiting to meet a female that cares about cars as much as I do:cool:

The last "moment" did not involve words. The guy was too embarrassed to talk, because he almost fell over the hood of another car parked next to mine as he stepped off the curb not watching where he was going. It was a mini-Mr. Bean moment!:D

This morning I'm backing out of a space at my coffee shop and a guy is walking behind the car. They usually step aside but this guy walks up to the car forcing me to stop backing up and walks slowly around the car just staring at it in a trance. So awesome.

A couple of weeks ago, I was on my way home when I was being slowly overtaken. Turns out the overtaking car was a Equus. The driver waved and I waved back. Then I had to get off the interstate as my exit came up.

I see 2-3 a day. Though V8 models only account for a few of them. Seems like half have the badge replaced.
