  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tell us about your "double-take" moments

Sitting in Cracker Barrel eating breakfast this morning. Guy in his late 60's or so pulls up in a new Lincoln MKZ. He walks all the way around, stopped and looked in the window for a bit then walked all the way around again.

Just today, coming out of Lowe's Home Store, walking behind a father and 5-ish year old son, the boy said, "Daddy! This looks like your car!". The father replied, "I wish!".

LOL

I love it!

:D

Just a funny story, my future wife and myself are planning our wedding. We were at our dj's office planning songs for the evening and he asked what type of vehicle we would be leaving in, a limo a rentacar etc. I told him no with a big grin on my face I said a Hyundai Genesis. He responded oh "just a car" I responded just a car just a car, no this is a hyundai genesis rspec with the 5.0 custom exhaust as well as intake. My wife had to apologize and responded sorry hes a car guy. He had a puzzled look on his face like why is this guy excited about a Hyundai. Showed him a pic his jaw dropped.. I also had several people stop an ask about my car compliment it in traffic etc. I love driving this car, it makes me feel good an I know I got a great deal on a great car. Gives me that BMW type confidence without the douchebag attitude.. Not all Bmw owners just some, most lmao..:D Thanks Hyundai for the American Dream at a much cheaper price, because uncle sam is a d..k.

My girlfriend and I get looks from people all the time when we're in it. When I've gone to a garage, rustproofing place, etc. they all said they really like the car and they tend to know about it.

Multiple neighbors commented on my 2012 Genesis thinking it's a brand new car, one told a friend of mine he saw my Maxima in another parking space and the Genesis in its place so he thought I moved out and some older rich guy moved in lol.

Most people say they thought it was a Bentley because of the Genesis logo (mine doesn't have any "H" logos except on the keys) and every time we go to restaurants we see people check it out, sometimes people take pictures...And people who sit in it and check out the inside are generally even more impressed, especially when they hear how much I paid for it.

It's definitely an interesting feeling to have such a reaction to a Hyundai but it really goes to show most people don't know about the Genesis/Equus so they never equate Huyndai with luxury cars since most people buy the low end models. It still has the exclusivity factor right now until the Genesis becomes more mainstream so that's a good thing I guess (as long as the price doesn't reflect it ;)).

I've had the nice bentley. Or oh I thought that was a bentley comments a few times. Always puts a grin on my face

First day of ownership has been interesting to say the least. :)

Picked up the car from the dealer after signing the papers & went straight to a friend's birthday party. He saw the wing on the nose and asked me, "Why did you buy a Chrysler?" Ass! :)

This morning - 3 neighbors all asked "what is it?".... none of them had the foggiest.

The 4th neighbor said, "Is that an Italian car?"

God damn I am gonna enjoy this :D bahahaha

"Hello Sir. Is that your Jaguar parked outside?"

I went to the US last weekend (Burlington) and people checked out the Genesis, one guy in a truck was driving by, slowed down to look at it and kept driving.

I think outside of Montreal the car is pretty rare, I've basically not seen any driving to Toronto, Niagara falls, Burlington or Plattsburgh.

I should be driving up to the North Country of NY (west of Plattsburgh) next month. It will be interesting to see if mine draws any attention over the week we're there.

So I'm cruising down the Glenn hwy in Alaska and a guy in a BMW 5series thought he'd be cool. I smoked him. At about 120mph I backed off (tickets are expensive). He followed me, changing lanes for good looks and took the same exit. Followed me into a gas station. He got out and walked over and asked what the hell it was. It's a 2014 5.0 R Spec with the resonator replaced with an X pipe and electronic exhaust cutouts. Sounds badass. I replaced the trunk H with the wing. He walked around it and after handing me the key to his Bimmer, I let him drive it. After finding out what I paid ($41900 new, got a smoking deal) He admitted he bought the wrong car.

The 1G Genesis looks more like a BMW than anything else.

My Wife and I love the look of the 1G Genesis. We bought it in January of 2015 and could have chose the G2 but don't like the look. Not trying to offend anyone.

I haven't had my first double take moment yet. However, I did see my car twin (the 2012 version) when I went to a local restaurant for lunch today. Naturally I parked right beside him and those two beauties couldn't have looked sweeter parked side by side!

Rich I think everyone has their own preference on the looks. I slightly prefer the lines on the 2009-2011, while many significantly prefer the sportier lines on the 2012-2014. Still others are awestruck by the unique grill and front end of the 2015. Personally I think all have something special going for them.

Bought my 2014 when it was sitting next to a 15. I like the look of the 14 better, too.

+1 ... I did the same thing...... It's going to take me awhile to get used to the 2015 Grill :(
