  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Magnaflow Cat-back Exhaust for the R-Spec

Great feedback. But are they faster? If so, how much and is it quicker across the whole spectrum? Do tell all. :)

Hi, guys -
Got out today and put together a few driving clips. I'm not going to lie, I think it sounds pretty awesome now, but I'll let everyone by their own judge.

Sounds great:cool: It's so weird to hear the exhaust change pitch so much because of the 8 gears it has to change through. Only thing that I'm not a huge fan of, but overall I think it's a pretty sweet, refined sound.

I'll have to go do another extremely unscientific poorly controlled 0-60 test to see if the difference is even measurable there. I got 5.8s with just the intake and cat deletes during the winter.

Yeah, tell me about it. This is my first non-manual in 6 years so it was an adjustment. "Shifttronic" is a joke with an 8 gear slush box. It takes so long to respond and downshift to a usable gear that you're better off just mashing the pedal in D. It does make for a smooth take off and good fuel economy.

it does seem to downshift faster by mashing it in manual mode, than by either mashing it in D or rapid downshifting in manual mode. just my observation thus far

I like the new exhaust sound.

I'm not following. It won't downshift if you got WOT in manual mode; you have to downshift yourself. This is what I was referring to - it takes forever to go to the next lowest gear in Shifttronic mode, which defeats the purpose when you're going into a turn and want to engine break.

The only way it'll automatically downshift in D, which seems to be more useful than trying to do it yourself in Shifttronic.

True^ I was driving my wifes Turbo Optima this weekend and it's so damn fun to drive! Paddle shifters plus a tranny that downshifts instantly and doesn't upshift out of gear unless you tell it to. I hope Hyundai addresses this in the future Genesis sedans.

For those that had theirs installed, if it's been a week or so get under the car or put it on a lift and check the clamps and the alignment of the pipes.

My the clamp holding the driver's side pipe by the differential must not have been tight enough and it shifted and was rubbing a little against the differential. Shifted everything a little and tightened the clamps back down and she's good to go.

When the heck is something going to post a proper driving video of this exhaust?:p;)

I can't really get an understanding of this exhaust at all with the videos that have been posted, but it's funny the dude that bought this exhaust with the 3.8 does a good job:)

Yeah, come on guys. :D

Ok - what type of video did you want?

i guess i could take a clip of it dropping a few gears in manual mode for you since you dont think the genny can do it. back on topic, fedex is supposed to be delivering my magnaflow tomorrow, so will have to see which i can get done.

Please do. So you're saying when you push the lever over to the right and use the + and - to shift it will down shift if you floor it? I know it down shifts if you let the RPMs drop too low, but I've never heard of or observed what you are describing. I've had 3 Hyundais with this technology (Shiftronic) too.

Edit: Apparently I stand corrected. I was looking at a Tiburon forum and apparently in higher gears it does downshifting in Shiftronic mode automatically. I'll have to try it tomorrow on my way to work.

Ha! Maybe one like big "Z" or even something like my old video would work. Basically something showing different RPM's and engine load etc. The video that I did years back was from a picture camera that had video mode in 480, but the sound pickup was fine.

Can someone without cat deletes do a drive by video?

So during my drive this morning on I-75 I went from 8th to 3rd instantly at @ 70mph in Shiftronic mode. There was absolutely no lag, but it literally won't shift until the pedal is completely pinned and then the result is like being strapped to a rocket.

The last quarter inch of pedal space "gives it the beans" to quote Clarkson.

Good to know. Thanks for the enlightenment.

no prob. i was surprised myself and only found this out a few days ago. my s4 before the genny would drop a few gears and hold it for a few seconds to see if i wanted to floor it, if i just quickly punched the gas. the genny gets confused though and will quickly upshift again. have fun with her. magnaflow arrived this am. time to install.

Thanks. 5.8 seconds? Figured it would be quicker stock and with the mods, even with your unscientific 0-60. I need to post the app for Android that knows when you start moving.. The it clocks you via GPS to a set speed defined. A buddy has that he says.

I have not found one for the iPhone I have.

Yes this is good to know. Will test on my 5.0 today.
