  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good Afternoon People,

Has anyone installed any aftermarket HID headlight kits in their Genny’s? If so, how did it work out? Are their any issues after install? What brand is the best?? Let me know........

You cannot just install an HID kit. You will need to either buy factory HID headlights from a Tech Package or a V8 model or buy HID optics and do some fabrication on your end to fit them in your stock headlights.

What year model is it?

I'm not sure whey you say you can't install an aftermarket HID retro kit. I've seen it done very successfully serval times. You'll need to make sure it's wired correctly to avoid flashing, but it works just fine. I've seen 2014/2013 and 2012s retrofitted with after market hid kits.

I think what he means is you shouldn't do the HID kit unless it's an actual proper retro fit, not just a plug and play. Plug n Play kits have poor light projection and produce a lot of glare for everyone on the road. So the kit wouldn't benefit you are anyone else.

I'm not saying you physically can't. I'm saying you shouldn't. HID kits are 50-state illegal and due to trying to mix and match the wrong bulb types with your existing optics you're going to get subpar results. Hot spots and cold spots (uneven light distribution), glare, poor cut off, and the brightest point in the beam won't be where it's supposed to be at the cut off.
