2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Can anyone that has seen this car in person verify that the hood is much longer than the current year and you sit lower in the seat/vehicle than before? It appears that both, the hood and the seat are different dimensions.

The hood is definitely visually longer as it is more horizontal, and it doesn't round off as soon as it approaches the nose. As for the seat, drpearso has said that Hyundai stated that the "h-point" was lowered. The seat obviously still has vertical adjustment, but it seems like the lowest point in the range will be lower.

Just got back from the auto show in Toronto. The hood does not appear to be longer. It does not go all the way to the grill on the 2015, there is a body colored section between the grill and hood. About 4" or more. The seats are lower than on my 2012 and way more side and seat bolstering. I was not able to sit in anything but the base version so could not check out cushion extension or adjustable bolsters.
The Hyundai Canad reps at the show state;
1) the base price in Canada will be $45K not $43K and that top spec 5.0 with AWD will be $64K, but there will be a lot more content even on the base car to justify some of the price push
2) the base car does not have rear seat heaters but does have front seat cooling on both sides and 10 way power and lumbar adjustments on both
3) a back up camera and nav is stock
4) 18" wheels are stock on the base car and 19" on the upper trims
5) AWD does come on every car in Canada but the rep would not say as to whether the 5.0AWD was R-Spec. he did say that more news will be coming about a possible high performance version in May.
6) the cars will start showing up in Canad on May 1st
7) he said that he was told that both a 3 size coupe and a luxury SUV are being seriously discussed
The base car that I sat in had both HUD and a DIS controller but the rep could not, or would not confirm that they would be on the base car.

I hope that this helps clear up a few things but I know that it wont answer all. I could not get any interior shots of the 5.0AWD as it was on a display turntable with the doors closed. I did sign up for e-mail updates and a test drive as soon as they appear in show rooms.

The DRL's are very dim looking and the turn signals aren't integrated into them like the Korean version of the vehicle. Also the blinkers on the mirrors still seem to be using a cheesy underpowered LED strip instead of individual LED's.

LED fogs on 3.8? Illuminated sill plates? Seems on original options document they are not available.

Standard LEDs for the tail lights and fog lights on all, door sills were not illuminated.

Just to make sure everyone understands, this is for the Canadian trim levels, not necessarily of US versions. In the past there have been differences between Canadian, US, and KDM versions.

I have to disagree about the hood. It is indeed longer on the 2015 model. Even in the comparison picture posted, you can see the added length from the wheel well to the door. That, along with the extra wheelbase is what gets the Genesis' weight distribution where it should have been all along. The blurb about the higher performance car is encouraging. I think Hyundai is going to do it. If they turbo the 5.0L or even the 4.6L(which I think is more likely anyway) and add a few extra goodies from Korea for a $5-7K up-charge, I'd buy one.

Also the 3 Series competitor has been long rumored and should be here late 2015/early 2016. There will be a sedan and coupe and will most likely have different names. The luxury SUV(which will most likely be a crossover if produced) is intriguing.

You're forgetting the 5.0 will have a continuously damping adjustable suspension that will undoubtedly make up for the slight increase in weight. Personally, I think that if you are thinking about getting a car like the Genesis, why not go all out? Then again things like gas mileage isn't very high up on my needs list.

Explain to me how fast you need to go. I'm telling you that my current 3.8 has never lacked passing ability on a freeway, climbs hills effortlessly and has been terrific. What does that extra engine give you? I'm just curious. I'm 61 and come from the muscle car era and I know speed can be fun. But you can't really use any more than what the 3.8 gives you unless you think drag racing is on your to do list.

I owned a Q45 and an I30. The 0-60 times of the two were surprisingly close but the torque on the Q45 allowed mid throttle to select just the acceleration desired while the I30 required flooring it with a two gear downshift and high revs. To some this difference isn't a big deal. To me it is. The 2015 gets a slightly detuned V8 that trades 9 HP for a broader torque curve. In daily driving that should be a good trade off.

It's not about how fast I need to go; it's about how fast I want to go. No V6 can match the passing power of a V8. Also don't forget the adjustable suspension that the 3.8 won't get.

I forgot to mention earlier, the power rear window shade was missing from both cars at the show. There were manual rear side window shades but none on the rear window. I mentioned this to the rep and he confirmed that it had been removed because of the rake of the rear window. I really hope this is not the case.

The increased rake makes it more important to have a sun-shade. But I would just get it tinted instead (with high quality ceramic film).

In looking at the K900, the rear window rake looks similar and it still has a power rear shade, so I am hoping the rep I spoke to was wrong.

Weird, I wonder if they took it off from Canada Models? It was available at the Detroit auto show when I sat in both the 5.0 and 3.8 models. Would be pointless to have the side shades but no rear shade.

Agreed

I saw the car at Chicago Auto show and confirm that the rear window shade is there. It does look a bit weird from the outside through the window with the support blades sticking out. I would've missed it if not for two other enthusiasts arguing about how the support blades were sticking towards the rear glass. Don't know if it is manually or power operated.

Just saw the car at Chicago auto show. It's a fine looking machine. Very impressive in person. Should say pictures don't do justice. The elongated hood and roof-line is very attractive. The interior is surprisingly nice. Looking at the pictures I thought it looks dated but it actually is tasteful. Very generous use of premium materials and the wood dash looks beautiful. The seats are very nice. The quad exhausts on 5.0 looks beautiful.

Few gripes though:
On 3.8 there is no fog light! Hope it is an option, otherwise it is plain silly.

The greenhouse looks a bit out of place, will take time to get used to it.

The grill is actually nice just the way it is and I am bummed that the front licence plate will make it look bad.

Hyundai has a long way to go from presentation stand point on the floor at the car show. Could've turned on the car and let people experience the Lexicon stereo which is one of the best feature in current generation. I asked couple of product managers to demonstrate the auto trunk opening feature and the standard reply was they can't as the car is not powered on. One manager went out of the way to get the car keys but apparently he wasn't able to demonstrate it. Don't shy away from showing off the best features! Come on Hyundai, step up the game.

Overall, nicely done car. Hope the road dynamics are as good as it looks.
