  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Ultimate

Hyundai U.S. needs to get out in front of all these pricing rumors and speculation so as to not kill the demand before the car is here.
I don't think Hyundai Motor America has ever released final pricing until just before cars were available to dealers. I think we are 45 days away from that for 2015 Genesis sedan. Pricing is not based merely on cost, but also competitive factors, so they want the best information they can get regarding the marketplace before the finalize the prices.

In the case of the 5.0 AWD, that car has not even been announced yet for the US market, and if it ever is announced, it is rumored to be available in later summer, so final pricing will probably not be until that timeframe. From what I have heard it will be a "performance" model, so not exactly the same as the Canadian or KDM 5.0 AWD. With highway mileage at around 19 MPG, I don't see much demand for it.

I would consider a 5.0 AWD Ultimate at upper $50's price point. Particularly when comparing to the German V8 AWD cars.

$57k seems high even when loaded w/ the latest tech and even for the 5.0.

The 3.8 V6 is going to start under $40k - so I can't see HTRAC and the tech adding nearly $20k to the sticker.

Even a loaded 5.0 HTRAC would probably not break $55k.

Look at the bright side? The traction with the public has grown with these cars. Since I live on a lake, and move about, I have seen 4 new ones where I have never seen any before I bought. They started filtering in after mine was driving around the neighborhood. I caught up to one who pull over to a bar.. When I asked him how he came to buy one, he laughed and laughed. He said he saw mine many times and tried to chase me down. Figured out what it was and bought one after driving it. And he said his neighbor say him in his and laughed.. He said his 2013 Cayman S coupe was dusted by one (that was me). Too bad his Genny is a V6 (could have a redux).. He said his neighbor is going to buy a 2015 V8 when they come out for his wife.

Point is... Our resale value will go way up, maybe 10-15k for recent models if they jam the price of the new ones. I remember when the first LS400 came out. For several years as they kept jacking the price up, the used value almost matched when they bought new. So demand for ours goes up because of the price jump.

All conjecture, I admit. I prefer to look at it this way instead of squawking about the 15 price points.. Just yet. Maybe I can trade better than
I ever thought for a 2014 Equus Ultimate.

:)

Everything I have heard is that dealers will get 2015's in May, so probably not going to arrive in port of entry until late April. I suspect we are a month away from that happening.

If they are supposed to be at the dealers in May, then they should be showing up here by now. It takes about 45 days or longer to process them thru once they roll off the boat here.

$57K for a 3.8? I think that price might have been inflated by about $10K. I don't doubt that's what the dealer said, but that number is unrealistic to say the least.

Hyundai U.S. needs to get out in front of all these pricing rumors and speculation so as to not kill the demand before the car is here. I love my Genesis and the great dealer I have and expect to buy a 2015 through the circle program but if the 5.0 RWD loaded lists for more than about $53k which is $5k or so over the 2014 I'm out of here. I am looking to buy soon and will look again at the CPO Germans just in case. My last two BMWs have been OK and the dealer has been top notch. The other car that intrigues me is the Chevy SS. I had thought that the stealers would be marking them up from $46k list but I see them for sale at the $42k level. The car magazines give it a top rating and based on the G8 GXP and the GTO, the depreciation rate will be far better than the Genesis.

Have you sat inside an SS? I have. The performance may be pretty good, but the interior is severly lacking. As I was getting out, a trim broke off from under the dash and landed on the top of my foot. The G8 and GTO have decent resale values because they were some of the last few Pontiacs(only in name, though). Don't expect the same for the SS.

The SS is just a Holden Commodore with a new front end and some rebadging, same as the G8 was. Funny that GM said after the G8, that they would not be bringing it back as a Chevy. Yet here it is. I had a '08 G8 for a couple of yearsbefore the Genney. I like the Genney better but the G8 seemed to have better seats.

I wonder how many other car models (manufacturers) have this much paranoia by owners of said vehicle? (ain't gonna' bother to find out either) But this is hilarious!!

I agree with the paranoia angle. However, Hyundai's marketing philosophy, or lack thereof, is frustrating. The sales manager at my dealer in Pittsburgh is virtually clueless about availability, pricing, models, AWD availability, etc. I have gleaned enough info from internet and various sources to keep them informed.

I intend to buy the 2015 R or Ultimate, if the animal exists even though my 2013 R-Spec has only 6,7xx miles. I just wish dealers could order a specific car for me rather than having to wait and see what they get!

This is child's play here. Go on a BMW, MB or Lexus board and the same passion, interest and overwrought concern can be even more frenetic. In the case here, it is positive to see the passion - that is what allows BMW able to charge premium prices, with a customer base whom like Apple fans, believe in the product and the company and will pay extra for that enjoyment. They can also be the most vocal when things are not right.

I would take silence or lack of concern here as a bad omen.

For cars built in Asia, that is the way it has always worked for billions of years.

I would be very surprised if it takes that long if they really wanted to move them through customs and out to dealers. Typically they ship them in big batches, and then have to wait until dealers buy them from the distributor (Hyundai Motor America).

Wow! Child's play......... that really is amazing...... Of course BMW, Lexus, and MB have much larger numbers than Genesis, but, I get your point.

And this paranoia does keep interest up and hopefully generates more sales.

45 days??? No way..... from port entry to reasonably close dealership (not half way across the country) maybe 10 days. Often times less.

Yes, if a dealer wants one, otherwise it sits at port of entry.

While you may not be able to order a specific car build you can document what you want to buy and let the dealer find it for you.

My cousin wanted a particular exterior and interior color which wasn't common and also the tech version. It took a couple of weeks but the Seattle dealer found the car in CA and shipped it up.
