  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got confirmation from Derek at Hyundai that they are expecting the 2015 Genesis to hit our lots down here in early May. He stated that the discount program will not start until initial stocks (inventory) increase. He stated that I might have to wait a month or two once they hit the lots before I can get that discount.

There won't be any discounts on the 2015 Genesis. Ever. Just get a E350 and be done with it.

Exactly what discount program are you talking about that you expect to get in a few months after introduction?

I have it in writing from Derek that I will be getting a Factory Discount.

larry'sown I don't like the E350. I like the Genesis :)

Trust me, you want the E350.

I WANT a 575 Maranello.... there are lots of cars I want. The Genesis fit the bill without to many compromises. A few, but ones I could live with.

The only thing "binding" with an auto dealer's sales dept. is a signed contract.

I talked to the GM at my dealership a few days ago (Columbus OH area). He told me that he only had ONE 2015 slated to hit the showroom in the early days, and had received countless calls from interested buyers. Said it would probably be many months before they had any kind of inventory, so I could forget finding one, particularly one equipped the way I want any time soon. So, I ended up getting an E350. Maybe next time :)

This is because.....

ksoze I have been emailing Derek Joyce since the beginning of the year getting info on the new Genesis. Over the course of several emails he offered me a Factory Discount when I was ready to buy.

Only time will tell but if he is a man of his word, it will be worth the wait.

Help me out here, please. First of all, no discounts "Ever" is a joke I guess?
Secondly, I roughly priced an E350 configuration comparable to the 2015 Genesis V-6 with Signature package and easily got to about $64,000. Comparing this to $43,000 for the Genesis, are we talking apples and oranges?
Or am I missing something? I'll admit that I didn't spend a lot of time on the Mercedes "Build you own" thingy.

I doubt that you have become Derek's new best friend and discount buddy. He was probably referring to this ever-changing special offers listing of New Vehicle incentives. In other words, whatever special deals apply when you are ready to buy. Just enter your zip code to see what offers apply in your 'hood.

Some are claiming that one can usually get $10K off list on an in-stock E350 these days.

In the LA area, $10K off list is the norm today, was even better in December. Elsewhere $7K and up off MSRP is easily obtainable for cars on the lot or incoming.

Yeah, it was a joke based on the assumption that you could get massive discounts off an E350 without trying.

I must live in the wrong part of the country........ we don't get $10k discounts on any Merc.

Also to say there will never be discounts is hilarious. Just wait and watch. Also, this Derek who is promising a "factory discount" is sales speak for, when the factory puts on an incentive, you'll get one.................. just like ever other customer.

What folks who have never been in the retail business don't realize is the dealership absorbs some part of these incentives from the factory. So, therefore you pay for it one way or the other....... I know people don't like to believe that because we all got the best deal ever, right?! NOT !!!

0% interest is nothing more than a buy down just like when you buy a house and want a lower mortgage rate, you can "buy down" your rate by putting up more money, well in the case of retail sales of automobiles, you don't actually give them cash for a lower rate, you just don't get the same discount you would get if they didn't have the 0% finance rate. The difference comes out of the profit built into the car.

Granted, the factory does absorb "some" of this, but, it's on the dealership's back to meet certain quotas on particular models in order to be reimbursed for the buy down rate from the factory.

The list goes on and on and too numerous to mention by me, but, that old saying of "there ain't no free lunch" always has and always will apply.

A great deal is nothing more than a state of mind. If you truly believe you got a great deal and you're happy, then you got a great deal and the sales person did their job well. It's just that simple.

Update:

Got this response today from Derek Joyce at Hyundai Public Relations regarding status of the Factory Discounts.

"It will take about 6-8 weeks or so to get volume up to do the factory discount. (estimate only). The car is popular. As soon as it is open, I can get you on it."

Hopefully by August I can pick up my new 2015 Genesis... :)
