If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'll start with my quesitons...

1. Does a Samsung GS4, GS5, and Iphone fit inside the USB/AUX slot in the center console with the door closed and plugged in to the USB power jack?

2. Does the 2015 Genny suffer from the same bluetooth connectivity issues with Samsung phones as the 09-14's?

3. Is there another power outlet inside the armrest compartment under the driver's right elbow?

4. Is the front hood height adjustable so the body panel gap can be minimized?

5. What model Hankook tires come on the V8?

and most important...

6. Can you fit a full sized bag of golf clubs into the trunk easily?

Great post... Does the 2015 have a slow retractable glove box? My wife hates it when it hits her knees :)

Why is the sky blue, daddy?

1: This area has been fully redesigned, behind that door is now 2x chargers the USB and Aux jack. When the door is closed it is flush with no room for the plugs to come out...oversight on their part?? There is also no ashtray or cigarette lighter that is readily noticable.

2: I have a Galaxy S4 and it connected in about 30-40 seconds after downloading all my contacts. The Bluetooth audio using Spotify worked great and displayed both the names of the songs and album art when available.

3: None seen though I'll verify this. The only thing in there now is an annoying little holder that you can take out, it will only sit inside in one position.

4: Unknown but I'll check for you.

5: They are Ventus S1 noble2's

6: lol.....I'll bring my clubs and put them in tomorrow, the trunk seems plenty big still and I do like the auto open/close feature.

It still comes down pretty hard, though this was loaded with 3 huge manuals plus all the other stuff that comes with the car. I will remove the manual for the tech features, this thing is easily 1.5 inches thick and 500+ pages.

I've heard rumors of a new R-Spec model in the works equipped with AWD. If so does Hyundai plan on any sort of weight reduction or force induction engine? The AWD system is around 200 lbs in the V6 model so I would assume the Genesis would be a whopping 4700 lbs. Yikes! 420 hp is quite a bit but the CTS V-Sport has the same amount of power with 50 extra lb-ft and ~700 less lbs to deal with (assuming an AWD equipped R-Spec.)

Excellent thread. GameDay is AWESOME!

lol thanks :grouphug:

I don't have all the answers but I'm doing my best to get them for you as quickly as possible. My dealership's GM, Sales Manager and Service Manager have been super cool letting me spend this much time in their vehicles taking pictures etc...

Many thanks to the entire staff at Holler Hyundai of Winter Park FL :D

Can the turn signal blinkers be seen in the HUD?

If a 2015 Genesis V6 leaves Kansas City at 9:00 AM heading east on I70 at 65 MPH, and a 2015 Genesis V8 leaves St. Louis at 9:15 AM heading west on I70 at 70 MPH, at what exact time will they pass each other on the highway?

If a 2015 Genesis V6 leaves Kansas City at 9:00 AM heading east on I70 at 65 MPH, and a 2015 Genesis V8 leaves St. Louis at 9:15 AM heading west on I70 at 70 MPH, at what exact time will they pass each other on the highway?

this question isn't really unique to the Genesis and could involve any other vehicle. I don't know if this question was meant to be facetious or contentious or neither. I wasn't particularly amused. but giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming no ill intentions, i'll play along and give a serious answer.

this question or problem involves a simple algebraic function of the distance traveled being equal to the rate of speed traveled multiplied by the time spent traveling or D = R*T.

using google maps the distance between Kansas City and St Louis via I-70 is approximately 248 miles. let's say exactly since an exact time is asked for.
we'll also assume that these 2 Geneses are using regular cruise instead of that fancy smart cruise so that instead of letting the computer adjust the speed around traffic, the drivers actually drive around the traffic without touching the brake to maintain the exact same speed until they pass each other.

at 9:15 AM, driver 1 of the V6 Genesis will have traveled 16.25 miles and be exactly 231.75 miles away from driver 2 of the V8 Genesis.

so: D1 = 65T and D2 = 70T
D = D1 + D2 = 65T + 70T = 135T
when distance = 231.75 miles the two Geneses will meet each other.
solve the equation for T.
135T = 231.75
1.71667 (rounded to the 100 thousandth of an hour) hours or 1 hour and 43 minutes and 12 thousandths of a second. if no rounding is done for T then it's actually EXACTLY 1 hours and 43 minutes OR

10:58 AM when they MEET.

but the question was not when they meet but when they pass each other which becomes a bit more complicated. and then the answer is dependent on the vehicle driven which corrects me and now it is relevant to the Genesis. because now we have to factor in the exact length of the 2015 Genesis to calculate the time it takes for the rear bumper of the V8 Genesis to align with the rear bumper of the V6 Genesis.

OKAY... the exact length of the 2015 Genesis according to the internets is 196.5 inches or .0031013257575758 (rounded to the 10 quadrillionth of a mile) miles. multiply that by 2 and you get .0062026515151516 miles for the new D.

so lets do the equation again.
135T = .0062026515151516
T = .0000459455667890 hours OR 165404 hundred thousandths of a second. why hundred thousandths of a second? because at 135 mph or 60.3504 meters per second, the cars are still traveling 2.4 inches (about 6 cm) away from each other every thousandth of a second. .024 inches (about .6 mm) is much less noticeable.

the final answer is at 10:58:00165404 AM.

if there are any problems with my math, please let me know. this actually turned out more amusing for me than I originally thought...

My head now officially hurts ! lol.......

I wasn't particularly amused.
  1. I am crushed.
  2. WTF are you doing here? I don't think intelligent people are allowed to post of this forum.

Perhaps, but accounting for the wills of each of the individual drivers, one or both will likely be making a pitstop at Bob Evans, etc. They will also be running into rush hour traffic at that time of day and it is unlikely that either driver will be able to maintain a constant speed for their travel. Additionally, one or both drivers is likely to have a nagging spouse along for the ride, so all bets are off. This just goes to prove how you can't approach any problem with simple mathematics.

And I'm sure that the driver of the 5.0 will be hard pressed not to push the go pedal to the floor on occasion that the road is clear in front of him. ;)

Update....

There is no power adapter in the armrest.

Golf Clubs do fit in ok but only by putting the bag in straight then turning the club heads in....at least with my bag.

The glove box does come down fairly soft when I had just the main owners manual an the quick reference guide in it.

I didn't remember to check the hood will do it tomorrow.

A few questions for me:

1) What is your opinion on the 3.8 AWD vs the 3.8 RWD? Gas mileage on the RWD is more similar to my loaded 2011 Maxima. What am I losing besides the AWD system, heated steering wheel ( I live in Texas) and rear seats?

2) with a 3.8 Ultimate with RWD coming in at around 49k, what would one say I should target as a buying price. Invoice should be around 46k or so.

3) Any word on the Extended warranty for a '15 Genesis? I would like a true bumper to bumper through 100k miles.

4) Has anyone gotten in the car to see how long it takes for the bluetooth streaming audio to connect? Frequently in my Maxima it takes 45 seconds or so before the music will begin playing. Phone calls can begin immediately upon pairing. We have tested it on several other Maximas with my phone and others and it's the same problem.

Bob Evans...eh...my one and only experience with them many many years ago left a bad impression on my intestines...

really? people can't hold their fluids or tolerate a little thirst or hunger for a little more than an hour and a half? where are all the road warriors? I guess I can look forward to that when I get even older...

I didn't think traffic would be too bad after 9:00 am leaving a "metropolitan" area. I thought the rush would start several hours earlier. I obviously don't live in that area, but who the heck goes to that ghost town of St. Louis anyway :D ? there are better suburbs of Chicago out there :D .

my response was just meant to be in good humor. I certainly didn't hope that it might highjack this useful thread. in all seriousness, I do feel that the 2015 Genesis will turn out to be a great commuter car for just a "trip" like this with "decent" highway mpg for the V6 and not too bad real world mpg for even the V8 with all the comfort and tech to handle a myriad of distracted driving like spouse (come on, I know you wanted to say wife) nagging or munchy eating while driving or just general banter with the other vehicle occupants with the occasional acceleration rush when the road opens up...

I do have one question for gameday22 (the resident real-world 2015 Genesis expert for now). in reading the numerous reviews of the car, when pushed hard, the Genesis exhibited understeer. I don't know how many people care about that, but I actually do even if I will almost never notice that about the car in my daily commute. I don't know how hard you pushed that car around, but did you notice that? if you did, was it even a big deal? most of the reviewers said it wasn't. that's all for now; I'm sure i'll come up with something much more important later...

1: Heated headlight washers. I only got to drive the V6 AWD for a short time, it was raining and the car felt very stable @ 60+mph, we took the circle of the on ramp going around 40 (posted 25) and the car was well composed and never felt like it was losing traction. The only thing we noted in the vehicle we were driving was a droning/hum noise and a slight vibration when sitting still at a light..it was resonating throughout the cabin. They gave it to a technician to look at but I don't know what the outcome was, I'll ask the service manager and see if he can tell me. If your in an area that your think AWD is beneficial or travel a lot to places with bad weather then by all means the loss of gas mileage is worth it.

2: When it first hits the lot I'd doubt there will be very little if any discount, maybe a financing and military one but that's about it. They will be able to sell them pretty much at MSRP for a little while if it does as well as I think it will...this car is really night and day from the previous generation.

3: I'll ask the finance manager but it will probably be similar if not the same as current warranties and range in price greatly depending on how much profit the dealer wants to make.

4: About the same amount of time, the audio connects about 10 seconds before my contacts are done being downloaded. Anything under a minute is just fine by me and most of the times it was around 30-40 seconds.

Supposedly, Hyundai is prepping a TT 3.3L V6 for the Genesis.
