I have my wipers on auto all the time. If I get in the car and start it via push button ignition, they don't do a sweep. When I do it via BlueLink and get in, they do. Why should one have to turn off their automatic wipers before using remote start for it to not do a sweep?

Here's an idea. Turn your wipers off until it rains. It is a tried-and-true simple solution. ,-)

Works for me and I don't have your problem, which likely will never be remedied. ,-)

Not that I need it to be remedied; it's just a quirk. One sweep when entering after using remote start isn't going to kill me, nor is it going to stop me from using my auto wipers. Auto lights, auto wipers, auto(matic) transmission - if I have it, why not use it? After all, we all did spend a decent amount of money on the car.

and if you do, it's the same as texting while driving - a bad idea. Let a passenger do it or use voice input. I am increasingly burned out honking at lane drifting, green light stopped, slowly decelerating cars all tell-tale signs of drivers engrossed by the 4" screen in their hand.

+ 100. Use voice commands or pull over folks!!! Are we really that lazy or in such a hurry??? Not that I care if you if you drive off the road and hurt/kill yourselves (Darwinism at work) - it's the innocent people you'll end up taking with you!

I think I can handle it responsibly, thanks. 90% of the time it is a passenger. The question that I was answering was whether or not the 2nd Gen prevented directions from being entered by anyone, including a passenger, while the vehicle is moving.

I don't disagree that distracted driving is an increasing problem. However, call me a libertarian, but I would prefer not to have disabled equipment because some people can't use it in a responsible manner. I would instead advocate for stronger distracted driving penalties to help force responsible behavior.

Unfortunately the innocent guy getting taken out is the one that pulled over on the side of the highway to enter his destination while a distracted driver swerves into him. I can't think of anything more dangerous than pulling to the side of the road on a highway.

I can - texting or typing into a Nav System while driving certainly are more dangerous than pulling onto a shoulder of a highway. But if that concerns you, how about this concept: plan ahead and enter the info before you depart? Or exit the highway/road you are on and find someplace safe to enter the info if something changes after you've left? Geez, the way folks want to rationalize using their distracting electronics while driving amazes me!

BTW - I react so strongly as, 6 months ago in my town, a teen texting while driving ran head-on into another car killing a friend's grandmother.

Totally agree - make it really painful though: something like $500 first offense, $1000 for second offense and license suspension for 3rd offense. I routinely see people almost driving off the road while texting - it's a really serious issue for the rest of us sharing the roads with these morons - and it seems to just be getting worse!

Getting back to the “Likes”….I like all the cool little icons on the HUD for different the functions and quite well defined also. Turn on the FM and a nice little icon of a portable radio with the antenna partially up appears. Even the volume is displayed.

Actually the opposite is true. Believe me when I say I am very serious about driving distractions. Before purchase I wondered if it was a good idea this “On windshield” display or if it was going to be a distraction. I decided if it wasn’t I would not go with the Ultimate package. After testing and driving in different situations I saw how well implemented this feature was. I found it no way distracted me from the basic task. It actually enhanced it. The proof is the pudding. You have to try it.

+ 1 - actually helps keep you from having to look away from the road for many common tasks! The HUD is execution is really awesome on this car (other than, more matte surround materials would cut reflections/glare when the sun angle is low = not a big problem, but room for improvement there)!

I saw that review. On the next time I drove the car, I purposely bobbed my head all around and could not get anything like he describes. The HUD displays against the solid windshield glass and there is nothing to wobble around.

I do wish the HUD displayed in the middle of the lane instead of more toward the left side. Until I became used to the display, I tended to drift toward the curb side of the lane and I would frequently get a steering wheel shake as I touched the lane line. That doesn't bother me anymore.

I have posted complaints about the reflections when the sun is low.

I’ve actually only seen one other HUD and I thought it to be very hard to get used to. Clarity and Contrast. Big difference on the Genesis I found it to be well thought out and very clear. I've always enjoyed Brian Cooley’s reviews but I have to disagree on the HUD. Unless there was something wrong with the one he was using I see no such problems on mine.
