  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post your 2015 Genesis Questions Here

will not play DVD , I put one in and it did not read

Hmmm...When I tried playing a regular DVD movie while in PARK, it played beautifully on the 9.2" Ultimate Package HD Nav screen (although not in true HD; probably more like progressive scan 480P).

Judging from my experience with my car I think there could be an option issue. Mine plays DVD-A’s (which I have from my 2011 use) and video disks with surround sound. What are the options on your car?

This link you gave is for BlueLink. In the top right of the 9" display are several icons when the phone is synced, a battery, something with headphones and an antenna symbol, sometimes with a signal strength, sometimes with something red, can't see what it is from the driver seat. Maybe a lost signal icon?

Here are a few questions all about a 3.8 Ultimate:

1) Does the 3.8 Ultimate come with lighted door sills?
2) Is the heads up display visible during the day?
3) Can I use the homelink to open my garage door without paying for a bluelink subscription?
4) Are there any radio issues? 1st Gen radios would periodically lose sound. Mine did today again.
5) Do you get free bluelink for any period of time with a new car purchase?
6) Can you enter a full address with voice on the Navigation system or do you go step by step i.e. city, street, then house number
7) Does the voice control work well with the Navigation system?
8) Does the voice control work well controlling the radio i.e. changing channels by voice? I've read some owners here have problems with #7 and #8

Thanks for any responses. I love the new G but want to see what issues I may have to deal with if I buy one.

I'll try my best as I have a 2015 V6 AWD Ultimate:

1) No lighted sills

2) Yes - no issue day or night - you can change brightness and colors too. Only issue is you can't really see it if you use polarized sunglasses (no way to avoid as the HUD is really just a reflection on the windshield).

3) Yes - Homelink buttons on rearview mirror has nothing to do with Bluelink - they're transmitters.

4) Radio is great. Sirius loses sat signal every now and then - but does that in every car I've ever driven with Sirius.

5) You get 1 year free trial for Connected Care (enhanced roadside assistance, etc.,) with Purchase, 3 month trial for remote access (start, unlock, etc.,) and Guidance packages. See below for what you get and pricing:

Bluelink-XL.jpg

6) Have not played much with Nav, but I think you might be able to do that - Others should have more experience to answer this one!

7) I have not had any issue so far, but have not used it too much.

8) Works fine with the radio, climate, etc., for me. Also works great with the built in Siri Eyes Free if you have an iPhone!

Thanks for the response. Can't believe they would leave the lighted door sills off the ultimate package.

3.8 RWD Ultimate for one month.
In NW Oregon HUD does occasionally partially wash out on bright, clear days. Not a real issue.
DITTO on SiriusXM ocassionally dropping out on flat land. It is really bad in the coastal range. Likely will not be renewed at end of trial unless they offer a significant discount. USB with 32GB mini flash holds my entire collection and was used on my last trip to the coast. Going over the Cascades next week, we'll see.
Just learning voice operations. Waiting for the bell each command takes getting used to. Right now I have less than 50% success. My Texas Drawl probably doesn't help. Would be better with a quicker bell.

Has anyone yet sourced an accessory hitch receiver? The manual indicates the new Genesis is not to be used for towing, but I'd like to be able to use a bicylce rack that fits into a standard trailer hitch receiver.

What format does DVD video accept. (2015 V6 AWD)

I am having a hard time to figure out how to watch a movie or jpeg still pictures on the nevi 9.2 screen, of course when not driving. Thank you

I’m a little foggy as to the purpose of the WIFI on/off system in the car. I don’t believe it’s to turn on and off the on board modem. The manual is vague at best on this subject. I’ve been able to link it to my home network and my portable hotspot. Right now I see no purpose for it since there no apps to run or download. The Bluelink service provides anything needed for it’s on board system. So I’m thinking it must be for future apps. Anyone…..

It's to allow the car to connect to your home wifi to download apps and their updates more quickly (presuming such things existed). When I first saw it I thought it might be a hotspot and got excited... sadly it's not

Anybody overly excited about the 2015 Genesis Blue Link app? Not sure about the functionality and future cost for this. There's really not much to it other than locking/unlocking doors and remote start which doesnt seem to work 100% of the time. I did read about other functions that we dont have like GeoFencing and curfew and speed alert. Again these functions are pretty useless to me.

Help me understand why I would pay for this in the future?

From what I have read the geo-fencing, curfew, and speed alert work with the new Sonata but not the Genesis. The Genesis Android app works rather slowly. If you live in a very cold climate I see some benefit to the remote start. I also see some value in the POI locator button on the rear view mirror. It's fun to show the app to my friends but how long does that last.

The real question is how much would I pay? Answer is not much. These services are overpriced and the costs were reduced once from what I read here. I suspect the costs will come down again. I might consider it at that time. I might add it is not easy to find the current pricing on the bluelink website.

One question about this please. I noticed a google destination search option on the NAV menu. I tried it and it worked before my bluelink was set up. Does that google search option work all of the time?

I'm not surprised they're dragging their feet releasing the new Genesis app, but it's pretty pathetic if the Sonata version is up and running 100% as it should just be a regloss with Genesis branding as far as programming goes.

I finally gave up. never did get my smartphone remote to work...SO, I just drive my new car and like it. the features I got on it do all work, except Blue link remote! Thought it would be cute to start it from the house like my kids to with ONSTAR, but I don't need it!
