  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tested and recorded.

As intended, we blocked off both factory intake tubes and ran 0-80MPH on just our Cold Air Intake system. It did just fine even though it takes air from under the hood.

It prooves that with Factory intake engaged our CAI will add some air flow and it's capacity is more than adequate.

The isolating pan is in the works, to make sure only cold air from outside goes in, via our Hood Scoop.
For those who will doubt there is a long unedited video on http://youtu.be/FzpxNIhTFvE

The short version with comments is here: http://youtu.be/Hf6moabpPzA

How do you know that the CAI is producing any gains? Any dyno runs?

Not yet, this first run was just to proove the CAI is good enough to move air by itself. it is reasonalble to assume with factory system engaged our CAI will be of extra help.
When we build air boxes for the CAI filters and route them through the hood scoop there will be some gains, specially moving at high speeds, on account
of the ram effect. That of course does not show on a dyno b/c car is static.
nevertheless, check out this dyno pulls of 3.8 Coupe.

THIS THREAD IS CLOSED

Sorry that the tone of the thread between all parties trying to contribute to new product development and aftermarket support for the New Genesis platform went south and turned out the way it did. Not everyone is going to agree or like every product that comes to market but that is the nature of the car industry. Keep in mind that the individuals on here are the majority of your potential future customers base. I would avoid being aggressive and using insulting comments, you might be burning one of the only bridges in the small Genesis aftermarket community by doing so. If you want the thread closed you need to contact a moderator, otherwise people can continue to post as I am doing now. Best of luck to you and your business.

I'm sure aftermarket including tuners will come up with lot's of stuff for Genesis.

This has yet to happen with the 2009-2014 Sedan platform, very limited options across the entire modification spectrum.

In my opinion this thread still has potential discussion left. If OP wants to close the thread, please let me know and I will per request.

Thank you

I agree that there is potential left. As stated, there is not a lot out there for the Genesis (especially the 2015+) and there is a good potential market for a savvy designer/businessman. I said in the aero thread that these specific mods are way over the top for me but I think that if ZZR kept talking to the community and gathering feedback about what more people do want, I see the opportunity for a decent amount of success. Hope he comes back and does that.

crazy how ya'll ran away someone who was doing R&D. The idea can work

I think very few people buy a Genesis with the idea they will modify it to improve performance.

When you read the 5.0 vs 3.8 threads you find a leisurely cruise is fine for everyone who bought the 3.8. I expect that for anyone with the 5.0, they will pick up a C5-6 Vette rather than spend a lot on modding a Genesis.

Sure, there might be a few who would do it just to have something different, but I don't think there will be a lot.

Now, if you could make a kit with a larger TB, headers, CAI and a tune and pick up 50 HP for $3-4K you might have some takers. But, realistically, the 5.0 doesn't benefit a lot from another 50 HP. What would that be worth? 2 tenths to 60? 5.1 instead of 5.3? Probably a little nicer midrange.

Make this a "stage 1" kit and then have a twin turbo "stage 2" kit for $6,000 more that will add 100 HP and then a "stage 3" kit with bigger wheels and tires and and an aero package.

But of course, then you're getting closer to Audi S territory and Mercedes AMG, killing your warranty in the process.

As I said, if you want something different it might be worth it but it wouldn't be for many.

Absolutely silly that the community irritated OP. OP was putting in work for us and I appreciate it. Aftermarket parts for the sedan don't come by every now and then.
