If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Fog Light Harness in the 3.8L?

I set it so that I had the ability to turn it off if I wanted to. Anyone who does lot of highway driving knows that fogs do not help in dark highways with no lights. They light things up well near the car but hurts your "night vision" when you're trying to see far down the highway bc things are bright near you.

OK. So got my fogs installed and they look beautiful!
All the parts I ordered worked with few tweeks.
H8/h11 connectors do work on our foglights but I had to plug them in in reverse/upside down to get the right polarity to my fogs. This means that those latches on the connectors were useless so I crazy glued the connects to the fogs. I'll have to be careful if I have to take the bumper cover off.
I powered my fogs from + terminal from fuse box and ran on/off switch to cabin. The switch is right next to electronic parking brake switch. My fogs do not turn off when the car turns off. Turns out that + terminal inside fuse box is hot all the time. Overall I'm very pleased with the result. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Lou:
Good to know that the H8/H11 connectors fit. However, they can be made to fit properly (latches locking the connector in place) by simply cutting and reversing the wires to the connector. Requires soldering the connections and shrink insulation, but the connectors will then work as intended.
One question: how did you get the wire(s) to the on/off switch through the firewall? Is there an existing hole or did you have to drill a new hole? If an existing hole, where is it located?

marshall.jones @att.net, LouKango or Roikins:
Need help on how to get wire from fog light switch through fire wall. It was indicated that it is unnecessary to drill any holes - that wire could be passed through an existing grommet near or beside brake pedal pass through. Which grommet and approx where is it located relative to brake pedal rod? Also, how do you get access to the firewall in the engine compartment? There is a cover over the brake booster and master cylinder. Does this have to be removed -- from what I can see getting to the firewall is extremely tight with the components located around the brake booster. Am I missing something? Would appreciate knowing exactly how you guys did it? Your help greatly appreciated.

you shouldnt have to drill a hole. there should be a hole with rubber cover on your firewall where you can run your wire through.
About H11 connector... the latch on the connector is too short for it to click and lock onto fog housing. So witching power and ground wire on your connector wont help. Also make sure you get the right type of H11 connector. Like the one I ordered which has space between 2 "prongs" so that orange tip can go in. Check page 14 for those parts I ordered.

Thanks for info Lou. Found out, as you indicated, that latch is too short to connect -- after spending an hour with Dremel tool grinding it down to slide into latch groove. H-11 connector does fit, but seal is way too thick to slide into lamp connector. Replacing it with a couple of turns of electric tape should provide an adequate seal and tight connection.
As for the firewall cover, could you be more specific about approximately where the cover is located? Thanks much.

on the driver side follow where the hood release cable is, use coat hanger to poke thu the rubber.

if anyone interested, I have two new 2015 5.0 foglights for sale. The plugs are there too, one can use them to create a wiring. $150 both + S&H.

George,

Would it fit 2015 3.8 RWD model? If yes, I'm interested. Please text me the details including price for 2 fog lights, pics and condition of parts to 6142857499.

Thanks,

Can anyone confirm what color the eyelash light wire is? I want to use that one to control my relay so the fogs are on when the eyelash lights are on.

I saw a black 3.8 with fog lights in Plano, Texas yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately I was in my wife's Acadia, so I kinda blended into the background, but I thought it had to be someone from this board.

Need a little help , which wire is the headlights low beam trigger? Had a switch but change my mind , I'm just going to trigger the relay with headlights. Thanks in advance . Please if u can a take a picture of the wire and where is located . thanks again

Has anyone actually installed a good set of OEM or at least OEM-appearing LED fog lights without much trouble? What's the process? I want a set that stay on any time the car is running... I don't need any additional stalk control(s) because I would not be turning them off. I'd love to learn of a good, solid, simple process before I make my decision on either a 2015 V6 or V8.

Found a very simple way to wire OEM Fog Lights (OEM Hyundai Fog Lights from RPMTrade on E-Bay) WITHOUT the unbelievable difficulty of wiring a switch through the firewall. Don't know if it's the way my car is optioned, but access to the firewall is almost impossible because of all the electronic boxes adjacent to the power brake booster
Found a simple solution today -- a wireless remote switch (with a small key fob) for 12V operation is available that will switch the fog lights on and off by operating the power relay remotely. It's available from "superbrightleds.com" in single or two channel versions for just $19.95 and $22.95 respectively. Model numbers are RCA-RF1 and RCA-RF2.
Wired to a fuse outlet that shuts off when the ignitions is OFF, it will operate the fogs exactly as the factory installation on the V8, plus it will allow the fogs to operate whether the low beams are on or not, which cannot be done on the V8 installation.
Trust me that getting wires through the firewall is almost impossibly difficult and very time consuming, assuming you are even able to fish them through. I had about given up until I found this simple solution. Makes a very neat and compact wiring harness in just the area of the engine compartment fuse box. As an aside -- the remote switch is made for remotely switching automotive LED light arrays.

So I was doing my normal eBay searching and found this.

I wonder if it really works without the 5.0 stalk. Anyways, I'm probably going to finish my custom hardness this weekend.

Thank you for posting this. It seems like a pretty good thing to have if you're buying the LED fog lights...

This is a good find as well. Thank you for posting it up. I do believe I'd like to have mine on "all the time", though - so I may not need this. Depending on how it looks inside after installation - I'll consider it, though...

After reading the info again, it does say that you need the new switch(the 5.0 stalk) and a connector. Too much money when I already have all the parts to install it for way cheaper.

Thank you for the update. I may just go with a V8 to avoid all of this confusion. And, of course, for the power of the V8 along with quad tipped exhaust. And while I'd probably appreciate the ride with the 18 inch wheels, the 19 inch wheels will look nicer (to me)...

So finally after having the parts sitting on my work bench for almost a month, I was able to finally install the fog lights. It took me about 5 hours of work because I was taking a bunch of pictures and trying to figure out how to remove stuff properly since nothing is available online.

I decided to wire up my fog lights to the LED headlight strip. So they will come on with just the LED strip or with the headlights on. I'm not worried about the High Beams, because I barely use them and in Ohio, our cars don't get inspected.

I created a somewhat detail How To for the Fog Light install. See the link below.
