If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

If you're getting some Extreme Contacts, are you paying for them, or is this the dealer doing it to replace the Hankooks. I assume you have the 2015 Genesis 5.0?

Yes I have a 5.0 and AWD to boot. ;) I ordered these tires about the same day the recall notice came out and yes I was paying for them however I have since cancelled that order since Hyundai decided to give me a set of free tires all while I get to rip up my Hankooks which actually work extremely well. I will definitely work with my dealership to have the new tires only installed at the end of summer and hopefully he will agree. Could always tell them I am out of the country and cannot possibly bring in the car until my return if they insist on me bringing it in sooner.

I got the recall notice to take my 2015 5.0 Genesis in to have new Contiprocontac. Tires put on. The letter is very specific and it has my VIN number on the letter. I don't want to throw away these nice Hannoks that came with my car? I've got 9,000 miles on them. Guess ill wait until my next service job and have tires changed out? I've had no problems with the Hanooks.

Don’t mean to derail this thread but I remember your posts concerning the discomfort of your seats prior to the new car. Like to know if your concerns have been eliminated with the new car. Is it comfortable enough for you?

Got the new Continental Tires today - noticed smoother ride - which is desirable in Northern Virginia because the roads are looking more and more like something from a third world country.

Query? Do the original recommended tire pressures of 33/35 lbs still apply to the Conti's?

So for the Ultimate 5.0's it looks like Continental Procontact TX are the replacement tire in the US as well as the most current original equipment in Canada. Has anyone in the US taken delivery of a new Ultimate equipped with these tires? Also, has anyone in Canada had a notice of tire replacement yet ?

When I spoke to someone at Hyundai Canada regarding this I was told there is in fact a tire exchange program coming to Canada however it would be several months before we got our letters so I assume we won't see those until Aug at best. I actually prefer this since I really do want to use the Hankooks for the entire summer as I really have no issues with these whatsoever.

See above (previous posts) for pictures and comments on the new tires.

I would like to see everyone measure tread depth on new tires. So far seeing 8-9/32nds. Very light on tread depth for A/S tires. Bridgestone Serenity Plus as an example of like tire, is over 12/32nds as measured at the Firestone dealer.

They are saving a few dollars at the expense of tot life for these "replacement" tires. Seen this before on custom production tres for OEM build runs.

My Conti's - put on yesterday - measure at just under 10/32nds.

Used a tread gauge purchased at Pep Boys - purveyor of Hankook tires.

Since I have low expectations for oem tires anyway - I am not disappointed by the Conti's - smoother ride than the HK's anyway.

Make sure your cars don't pull any way - I noticed a tug to the right after the new tires. They said they roadforced them, but it looks like it'll need a fresh alignment.

Sounds very odd - I would check inflation - I always check inflation and lug nut torque after somebody does something like this anyway.

Also, it's possible the shop did some damage - I was a little worried that somebody might take the car for a little joy ride - big V8 and all that.

p.s. also do a size check - make sure the right tires wound up on the right wheels - since the front and rear are different - crossing one of the rear tires with one of the front tires would definitely be a no-no - but it could happen, since they are all 19" - on my car, anyway.

ok... but I thought that combination was not possible anywhere. So, what do you know about new tires for the V6s with 18" rims. Do we get them or not, do you know? I think my tyres are a little on the noisy side.

Good news. Better than reported previous. Still not 11-

12/32nds of typical touring or HP A/S tires

In Canada we get AWD, like it or not and that is for both V6 and V8 as RWD is not available here. If you want me to rub it in some more, we also get fog lights on all models/trims and LED DRL's like everybody here is complaining they do not have. Icing on the cake is the suede headliner on the V8. I am pretty sure the only V8 AWD models available in the world market are in Canada.

How's the Bluelink?

How's the Bluelink?

Not so hot and yes you are correct we do not get that up here. That being said, I do not really need it since my drone mobile does what I wish the Bluelink would have done for me at half the subscription cost. The rest of the system is not something I am interested in however I am sure many would like it. We do not get the rear sunshade either but honestly that was a rather useless gimiky feature I never used on the Gen 1. That's a lie, I used it 3 or 4 times because I thought it was cool and it happened to be there. ;)

was told at service line have 3 years to swap out tires,,i hope to wait at least 2 years to do mine...

Tire Recall

Called the 877 number and customer service looked up my car by VIN...he said all genesis 2015 are eligible for new tires...The good news is Hyundai will swap out tires for 3 years after the letter sent out which should be this month..I will wait at least 2 years from now..I have no problem with Hankooks and by waiting will avoid having to buy new tires when car is 6 years old...I live in Florida and put very little mileage but change out tires because of heat causing cracking..This way can keep the car 7 or 8 years and not need to buy a new set of Tires...Very generous offer from Hyundai..

Great news. I think it is a very generous offer, too. I have never heard of a car mfr issuing a TSB to replace all tires on all vehicles like this. It really appears that Hyundai is dedicated to building an upscale brand variant, which is way different from just building a couple of halo vehicles.

I ran into a similar tire problem with Dungflops (I stole that name from this forum - and I love it) being out of round badly back in 1999 on a different auto mfr's "upscale" car . Went through set after set and thought about selling the car because I began to believe the car had been damaged in transport. Changed tire brand and ALL problems disappeared.

The point of the Dungflop story? The mfr never admitted that anything was wrong, Dungflop never admitted that anything was wrong; in short, no one cared.

This Hankook TSB seems like a huge PR move by Hyundai to build and keep loyal customers to me.
