Price Paid For 2015 Genesis

Hello Everybody,

I'm up in the OH/MI area and am currently shopping for the 3.8L AWD Montecito Blue/Gray Interior w Ultimate Package.

I have seen a deal in PA and MA pricing this car between 46-47K before TTL or any Manufacturer Rebates.

A) Is this a good deal on this Model? I have seen truecar.com estimates to be lower but people do not really swear by it's effectiveness
B) If I do purchase a car out-of state, what should I be on the lookout for?

My first posting and I am seriously considering purchasing this vehicle.

Thanks to this forum and the excellent, vibrant community....I am poorer by $50K

Decided to buy (vs lease) a new 2015 5.0 v8 Base...picked it up yesterday....Empire State Grey, with Black interior. Really wanted the Ultimate (for the HUD), but was not getting the price/value for that one option; maybe could have waited longer to get a better price....HOWEVER, based on the 400 miles i drove yesterday (bought this from quite a bit away from San Jose...don't ask...there were good reasons; still have 400 more miles to go today...all fun miles in the Genesis!), absolutely no regrets of missing out the Ultimate HUD (the other indicators are sufficient, and a leap from my Nissan leaf (yes, yes, i know...slightly different cards .

Now, did buy the HPP Extended Warranty (Platinum) for 10 yrs, 100K, Zero deductible...but not sure if i should keep it, or cancel it for no cost within the first 30 days...seems that there are key key exclusions that make it less valuable (see below cut/paste...suggestions on keeping this extended warranty of not?
My rationale was that if i keep the car 5ish years, it is worth it (the price for 5 ys vs 10 yr was small), and if i were to sell it then the warranty has value and makes the car more desirable for resale.

Has anyone used the HPP warranty on any cars...not necessarily Genesis? Experiences?

While I understand the exclusions of the consumable part of the Platinum list (ie: brake lining, battery, etc.). I do not understand why various safety electronics, including non-deployed air bags would not be covered. It would be interesting to know what percentage of repairs and dollars fall in this exclusion area. If they needed to bump up the charge for the coverage say by 10% to cover this they should provide as an option. Seems like safety related electronics you would want to stand behind to build confidence.

It depends on how you read this. I think they are covered and that they are talking about aftermarket items...

Offered an AWD ultimate for 47k. It has 330'ish miles on it, not quite as virgin as I'd like but no dealer around here has more than a few on the lot, slim pickings for test drives I suppose. This was through costco auto.

I do believe I'll pull the trigger.

Test drove a '14 XTS fwd v6 the other day, it felt very wimpy in comparison, and a slight bit less cozy for my liking.

I see one (v8 ult) advertised for 46k up here, don't think they sell very well in the north here.

Does 47 seem offensive to you for awd ult? I haven't seen many awd ultimate specific prices in here. I see one mention of 46-47k - possibly before rebates?

Dealers down here in Texas are taking $6k off across the board regardless of trim, engine, drivetrain, ultimate, no ultimate, etc.

Went ahead with AWD ultimate at 47k. Also got HPP 10yr/120k mi/$100 for $1500, which seemed reasonable. I had to name drop this forum and the deals that could be had by shopping around other dealerships

Regarding the 10yr/120k plan, that's all the dealer offered to me initially. I had intended to get the 10 year/$100 deductible one, not aware there were other mileage options.

Regardless, I drive a bit less than 10k miles a year anyway.

I'm not sure i got the best deal, but I got the tech package RWD 3.8. It started at 46k, then they had 5,500 in incentives plus they paid the last two payments off of my lexus. I got zero down, 3 years and my payments are $590/month on my lease.

I hope that helped. I'm sure you can do better than I. I'm pretty happy with the deal since Lexus was offering me $650/month payments one a new ES350 that would be 48k MSRP.

You should qualify for the $1,000 valued owner coupon. I know in previous months, Hyundai has had $1,500 lease cash as well, though I'm not sure if that is still a thing. Some dealers seemed to be giving it while others weren't. Also, the most I have seen discounted, pure dealer discount that is, is $6,000. So given these numbers, you could potentially be looking at around $8,500 off.

If the cars selling price or final cap cost was $41.5, that sounds like a pretty high lease payment.
