Just called the Map Center aka Mapnsoft.com. They said they are working on a map update. You'll should be getting a card that will remind you. It's a DVD and you download it to the system. It will require a security code so you can't share it with other owners. The 09 Sonata uses a DVD update and it requires the security code. The 09 Sonata also updates the Software so the Genesis will install that dreaded T-63 update while updating the maps. In the 09 Sonata you do lose your settings when you update the maps. So expect to pay about $200 for the update. Hang in there if you want an updated map. Maybe it will be more up to date. Mapnsoft uses Navteq for their US map database.

I called Map&Soft today & was told that there will not be an update for the Genny for 2 to 3 months.

Reasonable prices are even better at reducing piracy. $200 for a map update that costs $60 on standalone units isn't exactly encouraging people to be good corporate citizen.

I had the T63 update done last Wednesday. I knew that it was whacked the moment I started the car.... very sluggish. I thought about going back in, but I needed to get home, and we were leaving on a road trip.

I turned on the Nav Sys... it located the position, froze, then restarted.

We took a long trip over the weekend, and on the way home yesterday the whole system rebooted twice.

I'm taking it back in today.

Good news, complete functionality is restored. They must have only reinstalled a Navi update, because the couple of settings that I had made stayed after the system was updated again.

As someone else mentioned, the whole system seems snappier.... the HD radio stations also seem to connect easier... but that's just a quick impression

I called MapNSoft today (7-15) and received the usual 2-3 months. Hyundai Motor America needs to get their size 12 out and get these guys moving!
There are no excuses to wait this long!

I'm flabbergasted at the out-of-date maps on my brand new Genesis which are at least two yearly releases behind the maps for my $100 Magellan portable GPS from COSTCO. There are major new subdivisions within a couple of miles from my house that the Magellan has shown for some time and the Genesis lacks. Several major freeway segments, open for years, are still not on the maps.

It would be neat if you could add a new road segment and share the information with other users like it can be done on the TomTom GPS.

Both Hyundai and Mapnsoft appear deaf to these very reasonable complaints. I don't get it. I think Hyundai screwed up by choosing this vendor for their maps.

There is a map update in the works for the Genesis. I was browsing the mapnsoft update checker for the Azera and it mentioned a test update for the Genesis. So mapnsoft.com will be selling the Genesis map update. The lady said it would require a security code so you cant use this update on more than 1 vehicle. To get the security code you have to call them or go online and enter your ID. Only 1 ID per disc.

MapNSoft's SKU is 3C for the Genesis Map update. It's still in testing though.

How do I find out what version of the maps I have on the Genesis sedan. Somewhere I read about pushing butons 1 and 6 at the same time I don't have any buttons.

Hope I have that many fingers to press all those buttons at once. Can I assume that since I have no update disks i can bypass all the disc unloading and sowfware disk loading steps that come befor the multiple button pressing, don't want to screw something up since as i said I don't have any software discs. Thanks Grip.

You don't have to update it if you don't want to. Later Genesis sedans have the latest software already preloaded.

Yes, the button presses get you to the service menu, no discs needed. Note that you should only do step 6. If your versions are as listed in step 7, then the dealer didn't apply the TSB as they were supposed to. If the version is as in step 18a, then either the TSB was applied or your car was part of the running change and it was imaged that way at the factory.

M&Soft uses Navteq since navteq now has a link to Hyundai but doesn't mention M&soft.
