  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis News?

Just purchased exactly the same car (blue exterior/beige interior w/signature package) at a dealer in Philadelphia, but my car was assembled in Asan Korea as opposed Ulsan Korea. In fact, mine is the only car I've seen assembled outside of Ulsan. In reading about the two plants, Ulsan is a Hyundai's largest and Asan's focus is building cars for export. I am wondering if sales of Genesis have increased beyond Ulsan's capacity to build them. They are now sold in Europe and Australia.

Wow this is really big news; this is the first I've heard of this. I think Ulsan is not only Hyundai's largest, but also the world's largest.

Hyundai's inventory search shows two 3.8 RWD Genesis in Wesley Chapel, FL (just North of Tampa). So whomever said they were released to the SE USA is apparently correct.

The dealers in Raleigh who have been vague and standoffish are now suddenly falling all over themselves to get me to sign up for one. May have to order one from another dealer and have it delivered tho

The dealer in Raleigh surprised me today and said they had gotten 3 in, and already traded one for the car I want. It should be here tomorrow!

!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
There are quite a few 3.8 RWDs in Florida and some other SE USA states now. However, I still have not found a 5.0 on the inventory search page. Hyundai why do you torture me so?

Looks like some inventory is coming into central California (in Dublin, CA)! It's the first inventory I've seen on the west coast. Hopefully they will hit up in Seattle in a few weeks <fingers crossed>.

JSwap..

If your looking for a recommendation for this car then you can PM me if you want. Live in South King county...

Just took delivery of a 2016 Ultimate 3.8 AWD in Chicago. They are in the midwest!

Interesting enough you can build a V8 ultimate in both 2015 and 2016 flavours on the US site and they price has actually gone down a few hundred dollars for the 2016's.

Some options were switched around and the Continuous Damping Control suspension was dropped from the V8.

Actually, more than a few hundred dollars. On the Hyundai USA site, a 2015 V8 Ultimate prices out at $55,700 while the 2016 comes in at $53,850, so almost $2K less! Interestingly, the V6 AWD Ultimate increases to $53,100 in 2016 from $52,450 in 2015.

Yep. Automotive reviews of the 2015 Genesis remarked almost unanimously that on the adjustable suspension on the V8 Ultimate trim, the Normal setting was too soft, and Sport setting was too firm (and caused unwanted changes in shift points hard coupled to the suspension setting), and most all of them liked the non-adjustable Genesis suspension as a better compromise. So probably a good decision on the part of Hyundai to scrape it. Plus the G90 will need some things that the G80 doesn't have to make it attractive to buyers (other than just being bigger).

That's a little strange. I do have the CDC and love both settings as they do exactly what I would want them to do. I see them dropping this as a cost cutting measure if you ask me.

Oddly enough when I do the exercise I come out with 55,700 for the 2015 and 54,800 for the 2016 which is a difference of 1,100 and you get foglights. :D

Well, yes, it is a cost cutting measure, especially if reviewers like the fixed suspension better.

Keep in mind that what reviewers say is sometimes more important than what the public thinks. That is just the nature of the beast. However, I do suspect that they were right about the Sport setting being too aggressive and they didn't like it tightly coupled to the transmission gear shifts (they would have preferred to have the two settings made independent of each other).

In the end, any automaker is going to choose whatever options they think will sell more cars. That includes the functionality of the feature, and how much it affects the price of the car (which does affect demand). The USA Genesis has always had a subset of the KDM features, because the USA market is very completive (especially on prices).

If the CDC feature is really important to buyers, and it is no longer available, then buyers may go elsewhere, so I am assuming Hyundai Motor America doesn't think that will happen. Any idea what Hyundai Canada has decided to offer in terms of CDC?

We are usually so far behind here we probably cannot build a 2016 until Feb of next year so I really do not know of any possible changes to our cars. Only thing available to the public is 2015 info in Canada.

There is glitch on the site as I ran it again and got $54,800 versus the $53,850 I got the first time - looks like it did not include the the $950 freight charge the first time, for some reason? 2015 USA V8's had foglights too, but V6's didn't.
