  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wanted to officially say hello and share my excitement, im eager to get home and pick my baby up, I will be posting pictures on Saturday afternoon. I been following this forum for a while now but I didn't want to be one of those guys who posted before being 100 percent sure they are getting a gen. I am going to copy alot of what you guys did to your genesis, for anyone that will take offense remember "imitation is the greatest form of flattery,"

Congrats and welcome!! A couple of notes:

1. If your dealer offers XPel Ultimate or 3M Scotchgard Pro paint protection film (make sure it's actually a film and not some useless dealer add-on spray that does nothing but add to their bottom line), consider getting it for the front bumper, front mirrors, and rear-bumper, and possibly the first few inches of the hood as well. You will be astonished at how quickly these areas (the front bumper in particular) take damage from road debris.
If the dealer doesn't offer these, find an Xpel Ultimate dealer in your area and have him come and apply it at the dealer lot after you've settled the paperwork, but before you've driven it off the lot. I got my first bumper nick at a mere 800 miles, in the week between I took delivery of the car and getting XPel Ultimate applied.

2. Insist that upon vehicle prep the dealer not run the car through a car-wash (most of the dealers near me hand-wash their vehicles, but just in case...)

3. What color did you choose and did you get the Ultimate?

I got white 2015 v8 base, I wish I could have gotten ultimate but I got it for 49,400 out the door so I can't complain too much.
I doubt they will offer me any service like 3m film I'll have to have it done when I have my windows tinted, thanks for the heads up though. As soon as I have it in my driveway I will order the storm springs, I'm curious to see how the genny is going to look with oem wheels and rims but lowered...what hyundai should have done in the first place.

Can’t agree more had my car done with Xpel when new and it still looks the same as when I first drove in tor the treatment a solid investment. You got a great car enjoy it.

Great ride, just wrapped up my first long road trip and it was a pleasure in the Genny.

Sticker on my Ultimate with every option was $56,050.
Took her home for $50,000 and this was back in October of 2014.
Seems like you paid a bit much for a base 5.0.
OP, congrats on the purchase.

Lowered on stock wheels may not give you the look you desire. The stock wheels have a high offset so they look sucked in when lowered. With that said I drive around like that for a few weeks after lowering until I finally got my wheels. Doesn't hurt. You will start thinking about getting spacers to fix the look but everyone will tell you to stay away from spacers, hubcentric or not.

Please note that the Genny's front end is quite low and easy to collide with parking blocks as it is. If you lower it further, be very careful when parking. I'm one that values performance and comfort over appearance; lowering will likely make the already firm ride (thanks to Lotus) even more firm.

Definitely not going to lower mine since it's my daily driver. Can't imagine the snow getting packed in what little room in the wheel well after the lowering springs are installed.

It was 45,000 on the dot before fees and tax 2.5k under invoice I didn't think it was too much. Yeah, no kidding I could only imagine your genny literally plowing the driveway every morning when you get up for work. Luckly I live on the border of FL GA. I will lower and add rims...if they ship the springs from Korea I might have waited, ordered, and received the rims before the springs get here.

Yeah i see your point, I wasn't either till I saw everyone's gen lowered on here...now it's too late my mind is set it just looks amazing. Plus it's not my daily driver since I'm never home, it will sit there and look pretty 99 percent of the year.

My gen is lowered and I can say from personal experience it's not any more firm than stock. I'm sure Huddleston can attest to that as well since he is lowered too. If you were anywhere near southern CA I'd let you drive her so you'd know I'm not full of it. In regards to the parking blocks, that is absolutely true. Your front is in danger of hitting them. To avoid all that I park backwards almost everywhere so I can see where the blocks are with the cameras. I have the signature so I don't have the sensors in front.

If it's not any stiffer, then it must bottom out at times - physics are physics (F=kx), right?

The springs are progressive so when they are compressed the spring rates increase. I honestly don't know the science behind it but the ride is not stiff during normal driving but when there are bumps in the road the suspension does stiffen up to prevent bottoming out. I suppose if you were driving on bumpy roads everywhere then yes, you would have a very stiff and uncomfortable ride. But if you were just doing normal driving with the occasional bumps the ride would be just fine. Admittedly though, it doesn't feel like you are riding on clouds if that is what you are looking for.

OK - progressive would help keep the ride comparable to stock - to a certain limit. So likely would notice a little stiffer on anything other than pretty smooth roads/minor bumps. As with most mods, there are trade-offs, so folks need to decide what's important to them...

Even if you told me it's going to make it stiff and the ride will be like an old henry ford T model, I would still lower it. It looks way too good with it lowered and with 20's added. I'll add pictures this saturday of it. I hate it's Christmas weekend, I wont be able to debadge it or tint it till I get home again in a month. At least rims and springs should be waiting on me when I get home.

Incidentally, that's exactly how I feel about it too

It is!! What the hell? That isn't an authorized article lol. He's wrote it like he interviewed me. How funny.

That was my drop before my new set of springs. It's lower now.

I'm actually kinda flattered in a strange way lol.
